I don't undersatnd why in NY fashion week collections like Marc Jacobs were highly accepted with the 80's revival; and in Milan they say is just not right.

I thought about that for a long time, and I'd like to put in my two cents: I think the most important factor is each designer's intention.

Marc Jacobs intended to recapture the 80's, in what I understood might've been a personally-motivated decision.

Frida Giannini, for example, seemed to react against the world news of economic decline, so she went disco/54/80's.

I think Marc wanted to go 80's for Marc's sake, Frida wanted to go 80's for business' sake.

Because Marc Jacobs is never expected to do anything new cuz everyone knows how unoriginal he is.  His looks are outdated.

For me the best of milan was Armani, folowed by Alessandro del Acqua, Gucci, Bottega Venetta and Jil Sander.

i dont consider bottega veneta as been keeping it safe...i saw it as not going over the top i guess...i really liked their line...but i definately could not understand the whole eighties thing over and over again...its like they had a big conference and miucca prada missed it...she was the best this season
