@Onidax No, so easy use of polarizers etc. Does have a 49mm thread though, so if you already own some for your other Sony lenses you may need a step down adapter.
@PureSolidness The 18-70mm 3.5-5.6. Could have got the camera bundled with either, I went with the 18-70 - I made a mistake. Having now had a go with the 18-55 I would now go with that, it's a fair bit sharper.
@PureSolidness I never use the kit lens, unless I need a very wide angle that one of my other lenses cant cover, it really is very poor. This lens hardly ever comes off :) There is now a 35mm version of this, which I would personally get instead as that focal length would suit me better - but since i already have this I'm not going to trade in.
Thanks for making this video. It was very helpful. I decided against the lens based on your video and bought myself a Minolta Beercan off ebay. The original Beercan that is, F4, 70-210 and I looooooove it :)
I agree with the others. I use this lens almost full time, great lens for the money.

Hi, does the filter threat rotate? Would make using filters hard if it does. Thanks

What kit lens is that? I have the a33 18 55 kit lens and it looks very different and has SAM motor, no screw drive.

@Ed999B Thanks, now that you've had the 50mm for a while, do you use this more than the kit lens? Thinking of getting a 50mm.
