  • I've always been quite terrified by war chariots. No idea why though, i would have been on the right side of them :)

  • Who would explain me how came that the poor Brittish people being so sacked with Roman taxation still had enough resources to rise a massive army of chariots? :-)

To say the truth, celtic nobles had some chariots (limos of their days), as many peoples used them before learning horseback riding. But there were few of them and they were completely worhthless in warfare for millenia by then.

  • @Artyom2012 they build them by using wood, plus they would of already had them before the romans attacked,

  • @Artyom2012 when Caesar visited Britain, the Brits already had chariots... hundreds of them, which proved to be a pain in the neck even for him...

  • @Grimrippa1 well 'even for him', Caesar wasn't actually a jenius military stratagist, but he was a very uniek politician and he could wrigth things in such a way that even if he lost a battle or something he could say it in a way as if he actualy won it. and most things we know about his battles came from written things wrritten by him, like the 'bellum gallorum'. and of course he wants to look good for the people of Rome.

  • @theerasmussoldier you could say the same about many other famous generals and heroes. Alexander, Napoleon, Nelson, etc. Facts are facts though. Caesar did beat Pompey, who named himself Magnus, in a civil war after having conquered all of Gaul. No mean feat as Gaul was warlike and territorially enormous. He made such an impression on the Germans that they used the title Kaesar for ages. Good politician he was but a unique strategist and tactician also for sure.

  • Weleaaaaase Wodewick!

  • Reg: All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

    Attendee: Brought peace?

Reg: Oh, peace - shut up!

  • the 9th got ambushed by the scottish up in scotland am almost sure off

  • @evilscotsmin Transferred to Holland I'm afraid. The Eagle of the Ninth is a good story, but only a story.

  • Human nature has never changed and it never will there will always be war invading armys will always rape theive murder and get away with it the only thing thats changed over thousands of years is technology and laws YOU CANT CHANGE HUMAN NATURE ITS INSTINCT

  • Very interesting but this part with the fake horses is so self serving of the presenters. The Iceni didn´t have a 9 to 5, and each idividual concentrated on what they were special at from the day they could walk. Their patience broke and they stood up for themselves and were defeated. AVATAR rewiiiiiiiind. It´s a patern that repeats and repeats, throughout human civilization.

  • am i seeing things ? or is that a woman dressed as a roman soldier at 5;24

  • @markdangerman because when the roman rule at the time in ancient U.K they say there have some woman working is soldier an ever gladiator too that the only part of the ancient roman empire that have woman is a employed at the time that why woman in the U.K are bad ass you see XENA warrior princess right she from there too

  • Britain was like the end of the earth to the Romans, though he didnt conquer it when Julious Ceasar and the Romans first tried to land and colonise it, his reasons were simaler to the USA trying to put a man on the moon... they must've been very cold and theyd never seen waters as difficult to navigate as the cold unpredictable northern seas... a bit off topic, nevermind

  • @j3parrots USA? WTF! YOU clowns didn't mind crying like lopwlife babies when Germany was knocking on your door. Without us you would be speaking German today! Milions of us died to save your fagot asses. You idiot!

  • I dont think I was talking about ww2 or hitler or all the stuff you see on tv and movies. I ll say it again .. it, you still with me...would have been odd. Paranoid fk back to the fox news network with yer

  • News has nothing to do with it, especially since Fox News portrays Britain in a fine light. Please don't insult anyone, the British and the Americans are so alike, and are the ones who should be standing together for Western Civilization. What happened, happened. We are the result. Let's be civil, if we think we are so advanced. :)

  • @masterfeatherpen indeed I cant remember what I typed here but you make a sound point.... we are apes sir condition to behave by advertising

  • Like the moon because its a land away from whats known and its totally alien therefore getting there shows how powerful you are fk it you probably dont believe in evolution why bother

  • PLEASE don't give people a reason to think worse of Americans than they already do. You are right in many ways, of course, but name calling won't help anyone. :)

  • @Dallouez I can speak german In der dritten weld Walder gerodet werden

  • lmao, come on you guys. The Roman Empire was the light, and Imperialism is just the correct way of thinking. All peoples united, all ideas shared. That's the main idea. To rebel against that is horribly selfish. People should rejoice at being a part of the whole, rather than fighting to 'maintain independence.'

After Rome fell, there were lots of 'independent' Dark Age warlords using common people to fight each other, weren't there?

  • Sig heil.

  • Small correction to the video:

Only 2500 of the IX legion was present at the ambush. Nearly all of them were killed.

The other half of the legion was stationed elsewhere and so did not die with their comrades, as reported in this video.

    Cheers

  • Yep, it would have been nice if these videos concentrated a little more on the details instead of the dramaticisations!

  • violence breeds violence

  • so which one came 1st?

  • Destructive and Deserved Revenge on this scale is Awesome. Of course, it would have been so much more climactic if somehow the Germanic tribes got in on the Celtic's Rebellion against Rome.

  • Actually most of modern culture has origanated from the Roman empire and the reason Every hates the UK is because you guys conquered everything you saw but i gotta give the British Empire in the 18h century there props t

  • Well EU doesnt hate Britain it dislaikes it..

Cause it is Americas Lackey instead of supporting fellow EU'as more

And idiots from the Romano-British unions come many many today British people

  • you guys went completally off topic, the video its about boudiccas warriors, not the us or brittish current situation, that is very ignorant of all of you,....

  • Go write me a book or something - "Tribal" men took on Russia in Afgan-

you know the place you suck a foreign policy dick too- "TRIBAL" men just shut you out of the Mountain SWAT REGION in

the Middle east- You're all show man - All talk and all show -

  • Hahaha...what the fuck are you babbling on about now? Actually, I have just finished writing my second book.

  • We've all seen you guys hunt lol, you had to adopt other forms of warfare to keep up- Odds were actually in your favor in the American Revolution, you had an established Gov. with resources from other invested surrounding countries, and still , with a fleet, an army , and fully stocked, you lost , hows that economy going by the way lol

  • Like I said, the French, Dutch, Natives and Slaves, otherwise you'd still have an ugly union jack in your flag too lol.

Hows urs in the US? lol, you dickhead, they're all in the shit, so is that supposed to be funny?

  • Actually, the odds were stacked against Britain: a warzone 5000 miles (6 weeks) away, with massive logistical problems was the biggest issue. The other problem which was decisive was that to have surpressed the rebellion, britain would have had to garrison every town - it just wasnt't worth it. On the other point, re. the economy, I think you'll find that (a) the US economy is as fucked as anyone's and (b) the world crisis started in the US. Obama has just pumped trillions of dollars, wake up

  • by the way America kicked your ass- remember, the whole American revolution, then they shelled out a few billion to rebuild your economy after Germany stuck a tank up your ass.

  • Umm...no America, with the help of the French, Dutch, Black slaves and Native Americans kicked Englands arse...you'd have been fucked otherwise.

  • huh? everyone beat you guys, irish men with rocks beat you guys goodlord the only thing you do is write paper victory LMAO- tell me a war you won, ya just withdrew from some tribal men in the middle east in the 21st Century, you're "still" gettin your butt wooped

  • Who exactly are we talking about? Where do you think Im from?

  • Oh dear. You tube attracts 90% idiots, and 10% intelligent people. You're not in the first catergory. The prob with people like you is that at about age 12 you stop reading, learning etc about history, which is a problem because you simply don't have the knowledge to debate. Britain for 100 years had the largest empire the world has EVER seen. This involved being successful in war. Heard of the Seven Years, Spanish succession, Napoleonic, Boer War, Crimean, Zulu War, WW1 and WW2, Falklands?

  • debates over- and you ruined the ending - go away butthead, go try on some over weight armor

  • Go and lick the walls or whatever retards like you do in their spare time lol

  • You're gettin a ego from enslavin Black Africans? lol they were being sold by African Kings, you didn't catch em lol, when was the last time you won in the Olympics lol, Slavery has been in Africa for thousands of years, all you did was brag about it...ooooOooo big deal, you were enslaved too, why ya gotta be so negative lol

  • I never enslaved anyone, nor did my family, and Im fully aware of the situation to do with buyers and sellers, but what has that got to do with anything? Man, keep to the topic will you, you seem to have a problem with focus, do you have ADD?

  • Judas- when you get a pair large enough to stick up for your roots, hit me back up for a fight- you're just sad at this point, no matter how many Roman style buildings you build in your area, it's still a tribute to your Masters, damn man, next time- BE A MAN-

  • What the fuck are you talking about? You are senile old man.

  • Do you understand that? Instead of actually holding on to your roots, you adopted new ones to claim as your own, and attempted to erase your heritage. You denied yourself, what's a name for that-Judas Iscariot- thats what you are- whats worse is you have no guilt about it. just sat there and defended an "image". that image is not you- whatever man, and then you stooped to calling someone a "SLAVE"? only I'm not from this area, I'm from the other side, you know, the one with a population of 4bill

  • wow, actually I kinda feel bad now, nevemind, go ahead keep your chariot theory. later dude- goodluck

  • Really? I just feely pity...goodluck to you too :-)

  • Chariot theory!! LMAOOOOOO hey guess what I think they had laser guns also- if the sculptor had put in a laser gun, you'd probably defend that too- "Historical Painter -John opie 1761 -Boadicea Haranguing The Britons guess what , NO CHARIOT! -Voudicea The Chronicles of England 1578 by Raphael Holinshed

    - guess what...NOOOO CHARIOT B!TCH

  • Wow, thts so funny, sarcasm is funny...duhh. You are no higher than the rank of typical ignorant yank to me. I bet when your father looked at you, he wished he'd settled for a blowjob lol.

  • Start also on the -Bronze Age trade of Eurasia- around Turkey , the Trade starts around 3000 BC -University of Chicago announced there was a local source of tin in the Middle East that allowed bronze production to flourish- Turkey's Eurasian Trade is well known at that time - check out -Afro-Eurasian Bronze Age Economic Expansion and Contraction

  • Turkey?...wtf...you seem to have trouble sticking to the point lol.

  • AdelaideOrderKnights anything else dude? LMAOOOOOO fuckin Brit liar LMAO , moral of the story is, "NEVER" - "EVER" trust a "BRITISH" Historian LMAOOO

  • Coming from an American, I wont even rate that comment, because we all know what good liars you lot can be :-).

  • Actually, its not that you guys are good at it, its just that you seem to do it more than anyone. It goes hand in hand with the arrogance to stand there and try to lecture others on their own history, but I guess its a habit from slavery you havent grown out of.

  • huh? lol ummm sorry guy, wrong area lol, I'm not from America, so you can't pull that slavery stuff on me- are you just mad you're history is a lie? All did was try and find the truth, "you" sat there and just defended a blunt lie, thats "REALLY" sad man, you've actully gone to a point where you don't hold your own ancestors in ANY regard- every person whose ever died for you or your people was forgotten, just to save face, you didn't fight back, you just attempted to erase your very heritage

  • Whats funny is you call it a lie when it is evident in archaeology and written accounts from the time...so, you're the one who look silly. You are a traitor to your own heritage, kissing Roman arse and denying what is blatanlt obvious from evidence in burials etc.

  • Gallo-Graeci is a French term, I found another possible-Goidels, Celtia all these terms are references from other nations and scholars, some grouping them all together under "CELT" Bronze would have been brought by P-Celt , so guess what- not looking good for those Chariot designs.

  • Goidels is another way of saying Gaels. Havent you heard of the Celtic language family? We're not talking genetics here, but a cultural identity.

  • Stephen Oppenheimers groundbreaking genetic research has revealed that the Anglo-Saxon invasion contributed only a tiny fraction to the English gene pool- means it was no invasion- it was Migration, there is no "anglo" saxon - his Genetic research goes with Archaeological Data of the Tumulus culture - The end of the Younger Dryas has been dated to about 9640 BCE so one was there before 10,000 years (Ice age) Q-Celt must have come in around that time

  • Yes we know, modern Brits are descended primarily from the indigenous stock, again, your point? Stick to the topic please. 10000 years ago were not any Celts, but proto Indo-Europeans.

  • Comment removed

  • Here its says Brythons or welsh also known as P-Celts from the area of southwestern Germany; possible Urnfield culture - They divided P-Celt and Q-Celt , Edward Lhuyd is said to have phrased the word "CELT" if they divided it by such both using the same name , it was for catagorization purposes, means the orginal tribe name is not known, unless you dig up some Roman journals of Gaulic conquest

  • The very fact you say 'Gaulic' instead of Gallic tells me immediately you have no idea who or what you are talking about. Celts do come from the Urnfield cultures, what is your point?

  • I didn't say Rome created the world, it's not really that old compared to some, and I didn't say Celts were some brute evil demonize people, they just didn't have "Chariots" lol find a native Celt home and put a Chariot beside it and tell me if that looks correct to you simply by common sense - what was Celt Bronze Age

  • Celts used chariots...the archaeological evidence is overwhelming, havent you seen the burials etc?

  • Nevermind lol - you're not into this , seen the burials?- nevermind I'll study it myself, remain an idiot for all I care- goodluck with your "Chariot theory" lol -

  • Oh, should I do the study for you? You're the one going against common and well known fact, you prove it. As for me, I am more than comfortable in the knowledge that I am right.

  • LOL...you are denying the burials now?

  • Bow out while you still have shred of respect. Fancy that, an American telling me about my heritage lol.

  • Boadicea Haranguing the Britons by Samuel Wale, after John Hall

etching, late 18th century- Ever heard of Cassius Dio or Dio Cassius ? hehehehehe

  • Elite elements of Charioteers? ok so you just said they stopped using Chariots and switch to Cavalry, Cavalry wasn't until the middle ages, Chariots are in Egypt and Persia (Lower East Africa and Middle east) you slipped a few thousand years guy. So now you admit they did not have Chariots at this Battle, so why don't you admit, that if they did, the Chariot design would have come from Egypt Persian Area- who by which Persia went into areas of greece that eventually became Rome

  • No, cavalry was used earlier than that, you must be getting senile or something. It doesnt matter where a design came from, the debate here is whether they used them or not, keep to the topic please.

  • Pretty amazing how some British teach other peoples history, and manufacture their own- theres no "Anglo" Saxon history, they took a small portion of history and blew it up, some nobles using it to separate Norman Noble from Saxon Common citizen.

  • Of course they did something, their language and much of their culture mixed with the romano-british to shape the whole high middle ages way of life, things would be very different today in England if it werent for the Germanic peoples. It would even be called England, it'd still be East Britannia or something.

  • by the way, neither of these "Roman actors" look Italian- Al Pacino looks ITALIAN, neither of these guys look anything close to a native Italian, you want to see Native Italians- type in- "No reservations greece"- it has a small sample of ethnography there in video.

I will continue to look for more- you should do the same if you're so "BRITISH"

  • Im not anything, I just refuse to kiss Roman arse and ignore my true ancestors. Romans did not civilise the world, that is the greatest myth of all.

  • (Part 6/6) man...take a good look buddy..guess what ...."1" Chariot

  • The British army at the time of the invasion was one of transition. Celts on the continent had stopped using chariots in war, in favour of cavalry, but the British army still had elite elements of Charioteers. Sometime they could even be used as a means to transport warriors to the front lines.

  • This vid is flawed, a bunch of percentage truth - facts mixed with ideals made to entertain sorry guy, this is NOT your history

  • Excuse me, I know who my ancestors are better than you.

  • Comment removed

  • AdelaideOrderKnights The only Celt Heritage to ever close to surviving are districts in South Ireland- there would be there more an original line of Celt, probably in the older community who can still speak a little Gaelic-

  • You're English background arent you? I can tell...thats why you have no idea. There are a lot of Welsh who would be horrified by such an ignorant statement. We dont need Sassenachs telling us we dont exist anymore.

  • Comment removed

  • well at least you admitted you can't use a Chariot in a forested area- now admit that Celts didn't pass the designs to build a Chariot through oral teachings and camp fire story.

  • celtic culture made it to Britain, and with it came the craftsmanship. How else could things have transferred? And just for your info, not all British were illiterate, Druids and other nobles wrote in Greek letters.

  • Admit you have a very low biased opinion of native culture.

  • ok how about we start at the beginning, what was the Welsh original name because I just traced the origin of the letter "W" - it's not that old, orginally the Welsh probably would have been said as

    VELCH

  • Oh please, what has the letter W got to do with anything? We know it is a Germanic sound. Actually, you can combine sounds like mh in gaelic to receive the same sound, as Im sure one could in Welsh too. Anyway, Britons are not Gaels, dont you understand that?

  • It would not surprise me if this whole battle rebellion was manufactured.

  • no other version has Brits riding on rocky English land on Chariots

  • You sound to me like another one of those historians who believes too much what Romans say, and looks down on his own history. Dont give too much praise, the Britons were well civilised before Rome came along, archaeology proves this. Such a shame so many British over glamourize Romans and betray their own ancestors. Rome didnt do half as much as you think.

  • Whats funny is, Gaelic is the actual English Language, What I'm typeing right now are Greek letters- with Austronesian Vowel Sounds

  • Err, no Brythonic language is different from Gaelic. Cant you tell the difference between Welsh and Cornish and Gaelic?

  • Gaelic is the language of Ireland and parts of Scotland, never was it really spoken in southern Britain.

  • Unless she stole it , it was not a Brit Chariot- sorry - Romans made Chariots Persians, Egyptians, umm a brit in a thatch home and borrowed armor, sorry no- these guys have added an element for show

  • Celts used chariots in warfare on the continent, archaeology proves that. The British too used them, as they were Celticised and had close links. There are numerous accounts of this. Obviously you cant use a chariot in forest ambush, but there were plenty of open field battles. I dont think you know what you're talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • Ohhhhhhhhhh toasty. Burnt temple...nice.

  • Greeks and Romans abandoned the use of the war chariots many centuries before, because they were ineffective.

  • Their terrain was too rocky and hilly, and their horses big enough to ride.

  • btw nice animated Chariot scene i the forest

  • you can hardly run a decked out jeep 4x4 on unpaved ground without a good rocking at 25-30mph- a chariot? with no shocks? in a Forest? or on an unpaved road ? or leading an Assualt?

besides the forest- that country side is known for "rocks" games with rocks were devised from being so many rocks- should just call it Rockland

  • "you can hardly run a decked out jeep 4x4 on unpaved ground without a good rocking at 25-30mph- a chariot? with no shocks? in a Forest? or on an unpaved road ? or leading an Assualt?"

warriors were no pussies back in these days...

  • I'd love to see a Chariot fight in a forested area- anyone whos ridden in a Chariot knows when you pick up speed- you'd better hold on if you hit a bump- you WILL be flung- fighting with a sword in forested area on a Chariot - is a lie -

Chariots CAN NOT be used in warefare on bumpy ground- hardly even open ground- on a road as travel at a slow pace to carry a general yes- to lead an assault? never- to fight ? never -

    it can't be done

  • Interesting, the history books say otherwise. Are you an expert on Chariots or Horsemanship?

  • Brits didn't have Chariots- Romans used Chariots in games who also used the brits - the whole gladiator thing ya know.

sorry but, unless she stole the chariot it wasn't hers- if it's written in History, it's onlyyour version, which goodlord everyone knows by now British have an actual "History" of lieing in History

  • Great so they attacked a helpless city? also that battle at 6L20 is a lie- and you by the way you can't run a Chariot in the forest

one bump and you'd be flying- this is why Romans use Chariots in sports only- a Chariot going 20mph will buck and tip with the slightest bump and the rider will be flung, it can only be used on flat ground
