  • That tool was the best $38 bucks I've ever spent!!!!

  • @57hopscotch Amen to that.

  • Can you show a video on checkout procedures for economizers thanks

  • A 3/4 SHORT SOCKET ON THE 3/8 DRIVE WITH A 3/8 RATCHET WORKS GREAT WITH THIS TYPE OF PULLEY

  • thanks helps a lot good job ........ keep up the great videos

  • i found n easier way to pull blade off witout using hub puller..... 1st sand dwn the shaft. 2nd lube the shaft.3rd take of screw dat holds blades to shaft .. 4th grab a pipe dat fits the shaft in n sits on the base n grab a hammer n hit top of pipe to to break it loose n just hold the fan blades n let the weight of the motor fall thru n ur done .....

  • @214mojo OH YEAH MAKE SURE U TURN THE HUB WHILE U HOLD THE FAN BLADES N THE WEIGHT OF THE MOTOR SHOULD PULL IT OFF

  • The tool worked great but bent the fan base using the 4 hex hangers.

  • anything to make life easy ehh

  • Great tool, I keep it in it's own little bag I purchased , with a service wrench with the appropriate allen head and extension with the appropriate socket. In seconds I have puller tight to hub, snap extension in cordless drill and have motor removed in virtually seconds. Works great on BLOWER MOTORS to!!!THANKS DR.Z for the great videos... FRITZHVAC

  • Thanks for watching.

  • These are so very handy and nice. I work for a huge retirement place that has split systems, heat pumps, geothermal, and fan coil systems. Just remember to clean up the old shaft and use a bit of lubrication before useing it like it shows here. Ive never had a bit of problem with my puller !!

  • Thanks. I've never had a problem with mine either.

  • That hub puller is a piece of junk. You should use a steel hub puller. I personally have ruined that patricular hub puller, being aluminum. I have also talked with many other tech's and they said the same.

  • Thanks for the info. I've had good luck with this puller so far.

  • @circusshoe That is what I was thinking. Heat treated steel is the best. I don't think Snap On makes anything very close to that, but they do make something which will work.

  • Just picked one up the other day, coincidently I had a bad cond. fan motor after watching this vid..jk. Went ahead and paid $100.00 CDN for this little beauty, affixed the device to the shaft and I was able to spin the nut on the end of the puller by hand and the fan blade came right off...un freakin believeable...great tool, quite pricey for what it actually is though

  • It's a great little investment.

  • I don't work on alot of older systems. When I do, I drill down into the old motor shaft with a 1/4" bit (past the hub itself), put my drift into the hole and WAIL on it with a 24 oz hammer. That hub puller is definitely on my shopping list now. Only $80, huh? It's a steal at twice the price!

  • That's one way of doing it. The hub puller is really a great sanity saver.

  • that method will work providing that the condenser fan motor is already dead. Beating the shaft on a brand new motor hell no lol. Bad for the bearings

  • Good point. Always handle good parts with kid gloves. Bad parts? Feel free to take your frustrations out on them.

  • very cool tool

  • I have seen this tool in parts stores. concidering the price of this tool I wasnt to convinced if it would be worth buying. But it looks like a must have tool for the HVAC tech to have. thanks for the demo.

  • It's very worth the money. Thanks.

  • How much does this puller cost? Kroil is the best anti seize lubricant that i have used for years- ran accross it when i was a maintenance mechanic at Werner

  • It cost me about $80.

  • Nice job Jim! Back in the old days, when I was a diesel tech, I aquired a nice habit. Before I would pull a hub of a shaft, or knock a bearing out of hub, I would always measure the distance - how far out is the shaft or how deep is the bearing. After I had the new parts installed, I would measure again. If the measurement came up different, I wanted to know why.

  • Thanks for the tip.

  • Is that Kroil stuff better and cost less than WD-40?

As far as puller goes, I just use some cheap puller from Harbor Freight. I'm just starting out and can't afford the same fancy tools that you got Dr. Z. ha ha ha....

  • It costs more than WD-40.

  • it a useful tools thanks for the tip. Keep up the good work Doc!!!!

  • Thanks

  • That tool definitely would have saved some time, gotta get one of those! Thanks!

  • It's worth it.

  • Same puller that I use :> Good stuff as usual!

  • Oh gang, don't forget to make SURE that the locking screws on the puller don't get into the hole on the hub where the lock nut goes, lol :> That'll ruin your day! hehe

  • Thanks for the tip.

  • Great minds think alike. Thanks.

  • One of my favs is one put out by Krown its in a blue spray balm can called KP 53, it actually is blue in color and smells nasty..but it works

  • I can put up with just about any smell as long as it works great.

  • Kroil oil is awsome and it doesn't smell bad either. There is another lubricant on the market even better than Kroil its called Hilcolube....this stuff smells so good you could use it for colone lol

  • Thanks. I'll have to check that one out.

  • The Ultimate Puller great tool same one i use.

  • It sure it. THanks.

  • going out 2morrow to pick one up thanks DRZ

  • It's a great tool to have.

  • weasal pisses lol

  • can i put a txv in a heat pump

  • Yes.

  • but i have to put one or two it's a heat pump

  • I am glad that you are enjoying your new tool, Babe

  • 1:00 Whoa, whoa, whoa.... Weasel Piss?

    XD

  • That's what MechanicWarrior20 calls that type of lubricant.

  • good vid. nice tool. that fan looked nasty, i bet the coils needed a clean.lol

  • Yes. The coils were nasty, too.

  • you should show what unit your working on and how dirty it is just for fun.

  • I'll keep that in mind for next time. Thanks.

  • Where did you get the Aero Kroil, always used PB Blaster, but may try it ?

Good video, they are nice tools to have as an hvac tech.

    Thanks.

  • I got the Aero Kroil at Baker Distributing.

  • I've used this tool many times. And, ruined a few... The major flaw is that the threads are too fine. That being, to make it easier to turn, yes. But also reflects on the life expectancy of the tool itself. A stubborn hub is more than likely stuck on a burr created by the set screw. If possible and to preserve the puller, smack the blade DOWN the shaft first to inspect and/or remove the burr. Then pry up with an open crescent to apply the puller with the minimal amount of travel possible.

  • Thanks for the great tip.

  • best tool under the sun. better then sex. save me countless times on blower motor shafts. thanks dr.z for this clip.

  • It does save on time and aggravation.

  • Excellent! Thank you Jim for that Pressure control video, and response to my Message =D good stuff! Everyone in my AC-R class knows you from Youtube they call you A/C Guru hahahahaha. Keep up the great informatide video tutorials; You ROCK!

  • Thanks for watching and please tell your classmates that I said hello.

  • lmfao at does not smell as bad as some of the other weasel pisses out there... Nice DPC you see a lot of those in walk in coolers...

  • i see a case of the run cap bandit.

  • Yeah. The run cap bandit had hit a lot of these Bards some time ago.

  • there is no greater frustration on earth than trying to get a hub off without one of those things....truely mans greatest invention, next to football ofcourse..LOL

  • Gotta say you're right. Thanks.

  • hey doc, what kinda camera are you using.

  • I use a Sony mini DV. I bought it back in 2002.

  • aero kroil ROCKS!!!!!

  • Sure does. I'll never go back.

  • johnstone supply ROCKS

  • I especially like that they're a Fujitsu dealer.

  • aero kroil ROCKS! WD40 couldn't loosen the bolts on a centrifugal... the kroil loosened them all. not one snapped bolt...

    by the way, nice tool

    peace2U

  • Aero Kroil is the only stuff on my truck now.

  • Looks like a great tool to have in your arsinel..
