I have read this comic a few times, on the DeviantArt account of the artist and here. And I don't think that this comic is supposed to be sexist towards women or, you know, show Matsuda as being sexist (O.o). One, the artist herself is a girl O.o. And two, I think that the comic is both a commentary and criticism about the depiction of women in Death Note. I think Matsuda is like the artist's messenger in this case. :) He depicts the author's emotions with his expressions and offers comic relief

The first time Mello is addressed as male is in volume seven page 198. By Rod Ross, it says, "We just have to do as Mello tells us. As the second Kira she makes beyond intelligent moves and manages to avoid conviction by the police--not only that, but she goes on to survive the entire series, long after every other intelligent male character has died (even light).
