I couldn't agree more with "91rocker" that I'd love to see them play the entire Symptom of the Universe song from beginning to end because I love the mellow last part with Oz singing as it ultimately fades out. Epic metal song.
I wish a live recording of them playing the whole song existed. the ending acoustic part is so perfect. The only live version with that isnt the original line up

Ozzy's vocals show up just how much coke he was taking. Apparently he once took coke every day for a year to see what would happen, fucked his voice up.
I love after all of the years Tony Iommi has never strayed away from his good ol' baby keep sake no matter what paint, neck headstock, or body paint it may have........The classic Gibson SG. Iommi put that guitar on the map for Gibson, and rightfully so!
@badtothebone4444 the thing i liked about ward was he is so differnt from anyother drummer. you hear a bill ward beat and you know its ward! you never 2nd guess
the worlds first ''thrashy'' song ? black sabbath really are the pioneers of metal , and then james hetfield dares to say black sabbath invented metal , but that metallica did so much more for metal , dont make me laugh , metallica isnt even that good , and most of all , one of the most commercial and mainstream bands !
Why is everybody so afraid of the word commercial? Black Sabbath was also a commercial band. I see nothing bad in a good band being commercial. If some band is so good that it jumps out of frames of his own genre and finds non-metal audience that likes it, and still keeps producing great music, that means that band really has done something great for metal. Since I was 17 Sabbath was THE band for me, but also I don't think James was wrang. He was honest and realistic.
@Oink84 its not the word commercial its the meaning and the effects of the word,so how did metallica do more for ''metal'' then the man who brought metal to the people and pioneered the sound of metal(did not invent it ''the cremes'' where first)(tony lommi-black sabbath) ? yes i agree commercial is not a bad thing in the pure sence of the word, but metallica is a great example of what happens with a band after being completely commercialised, the music becomes SHIT!
Well, first of all, when sabbath was at peak of power, people didn't know the word metal yet. Now, don't get me wrong, but when as a kid you start to listen to metal music, only few kids will start with sabbath. Most of them will start with Metallica or Iron Maiden. Metallica has become a synonym for Metal, and even if you like them less than sabbath (and I do, believe it or not), they've attributed to metal music as no band before them, not only music-wise.
@Oink84 metallica has become a synonym for metal ? yes maybe for the commercialised people that watch mtv , but not for the real metal heads , there is no bands that is more synonym to metal then black sabbath , the band that invented it !
Black Sabbath invented metal riffs, they've invented that evil sound that only gets better with years and they opened a new chapter in history of music, but Metallica brought that sound and iconography to a whole new level.
@Oink84 totally disagree, metallice doesnt have anything better then sabbath, their drummer sucks, their singer isnt as good as any singers sabbath has had, their guitarist is inferior to tony lommi, tell me one song that has a greater riff then the worst riff tony has come up with? only good thing of metallica was cliff burton, all they did was simplify the music so it is appealing to a wider audience, nothing more then that, english metal bands are far superior to american metal bands!
First of all, you are stubborn as hell, how many times I have to say I like Sabbath far more then Metallica?
Second, you are wrong at some points. If you play guitar (and I do, have been for 10 years), you should know that playing Sabbath is much more simple, and has nothing to do with the complexity of music. It's not always the technical part that makes music complex.
Third, why the fuck are you forcing the world commercial? Sabbath was EXTREMELY COMMERCIAL in the 70's. T-shirts, flags, posters, you name it. Maiden was in the 80's. So was the Judas Priest. Everything becomes commercial eventually if it grows big enough.
And you are underestimating American bands a little bit too much, you know. When it comes to modern sub-genres, Brits are one step behind. With all do respect for classic Brittish sound.

@InjuryDrums34 metallica WAS A GOOD METAL BAND in the early 80s... til Cliff died, you know... But they were NEVER THE BEST ! They were very talented and good, an extraordinary metal band that turned out to be the first thrash metal band! But Metallica wasn't, isn't and will never be the BEST METAL BAND !
