  • Such a cool movie, such a lame soundtrack to the trailer.

So many good movies were made in Texas in the 90s. Rushmore, Lone Star, and that rare indie gem, NO RESISTANCE

  • The line "you should never traumatize a woman sexually" - was that sampled in a song sometime in the past 15 years? It sounds very familliar.

  • Its like I'm watching this trailer man, but like what if the trailer is watching me man? Like what is this, Comments are....

    You should never okay

  • much better than waking life

  • It's funny how much that trailer music dates the movie. Imagine another score in there, maybe totally symphonic like the London Symphony Orchestra or something. I wonder how that would play?

  • Whats the cheesy song name? :D

  • This movie should be mandatory in high schools, or something. I didn't get it for the first 5 minutes, but then it blew me away. Something about culture, Chaos, and the mind. We all go through stages of dorky-ness, I guess.

  • That soundtrack is so groovy

  • I love Slacker and I love Austin and I love Texas! All good - Great movie!

  • Waking Life sent me here. Movie looks interesting. Damn shame about the soundtrack. Damn shame.

  • @Bryterlayter91 the soundtrack of the actual film is fine,i don't know how could they butcher the trailer with this piece of shit annoying ambient music.

  • @Bryterlayter91 Seems like that music was added to try and make this appeal to a mainstream audience. I don't remember it in the actual film

  • dudes, what's with the "widescreen" bullshit? cuts off the heads.

  • I like what it says at the end of the video on the bottom of the screen where it say cast.. A LOT OF PEOPLE (:

  • yay this is my hometown i love austin

  • At exactly 36 minutes there is a hilarious boomerang joke, such coincidence.

  • It's a Madonna pap smear. Hell yes.

  • the music is awful

  • Jesus.....HORRIBLE Trailer!!! Brilliant Movie though!

  • Austin... just up the road from me. I love going there

  • Oh my god. that old guy is doing the monologue from the middle of anticon's "poetry is for fairies" i've been wondering for YEARS where that sample came from!! woooooooo, so happy now XP

  • @MichaelLeroi

Dude no way you actually know about that?!? I felt the same way as you just 15 mins ago lol

Though the mix is by a DJ called CPI google search thetastates to get to her site. Dude wait til you hear Libations for the Gods. Hell if you like that search Head in the clouds DJ Paris. I got one of my radio shows on there, pretty sick underground music.

Peace bro and keep Austin weird.

  • Great movie...Austin's changed alot since then and not for the better unfortunately. With some key councilmember changes it has since increased its police authority further in areas such as no refusal weekends and the use of police checkpoints. Development has become the center of focus for the city and causing it to outgrow its old recognition as a libertarian beacon of living. As Abbey would say, "Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell".

  • Cast: A LOT OF PEOPLE

  • loving that cheesy beat lol

  • SLACKER CRUNK ! souloutsider.bandcamp.com/album/slacker-crunk

  • I can't stand directors and muscians that leech of "so called" cultural phenomenons. Like oliver stone and singles.....thankgod nirvana didn't take part.

  • @goodvibesallround "Singles" was Cameron Crowe. Unlike him, Linklater is from Austin. Linklater is depicting his hometown and not exploiting a trend like Crowe did with Seattle and grunge.

  • I prefer It's Impossible to Learn to Plow by Reading Books

  • this movie i love but it ain't funny, it IS a comedy, yes, but i don't remember laffing out loud once the first time i watched it because it is really deadly SERIOUS, only intellectuals disconnected from reality laff out loud at it in their dry, knowing, oh-so-self-conscious and really quite sad and lonley guffawing, i forgive them father for they know not what they do = this movie is about the American RELIGION.

  • seen this movie before somewhere here on youtube...but i cant find it anymore?

  • @DrwipeProductions netflix

  • could someone post that typewriter scene?

  • These are the kind of people that believe the moon landings were fake

  • @TheJomogogo What? You mean you don't know? It's been common knowledge for the past like, twenty years that moon landing was staged.

  • @LordNotis

    I hope you are joking.

No, the Apollo missions were not staged. There were SIX manned landings, not one idiot.

  • @TheJomogogo I'm kidding, man. I know it was real.

  • hahah look at the credits at the end

    cast: ALOT OF PEOPLE

  • hey does anybody know where can i download the soundtrack from? ive been looking ALL OVER

  • @jamesmanortiz oh heeeeeelllllll yes!

  • never seen the movie im sure dazed and confused is better though

  • @jamesmanortiz how is dazed and confused even related to this movie? just because its in the related vids on the right? youtube always gives me some pretty unrelated stuff in that bar, the only the that's similar is that it's a film.

  • @ShadowEcho25 And that they're both directed by Richard Linklater.

  • @ShadowEcho25 Both films were directed by the same guy, Richard Linklater

  • This is one of my favourite films and my second favourite indie film after Clerks. The guy who kept askin people for cigarettes was my favourite character "i may live badly but at least i don't have to work to do it!" looooooool such a great film.

  • Great movie but this trailer hardly does it any justice

  • @remywood81 I saw this movie when it first came out in the theaters, and I haven't seen it again. I remember it being more interesting than this trailer, so I hope it was better than this.

  • I'd imagine it was hard to try to capture the magic that is this film into a trailer. It does the film no justice.

  • @futureboyzi: It's not. This is just a really shitty trailer with shitty music. This film is unlike any other.

  • looks like very cheap shity movie

  • @futureboyzi Learn how to spell before you try to trash a classic indie film like this.

  • @MordaciousFilms learn how to accept the true :)) wimp

  • @futureboyzi You're a fucking moron.

  • @MordaciousFilms moron is the name of your father, you are wimp, guess why your mother is :))) no get the f*** off

  • @futureboyzi Wow, what a troll you are. Your english is very poor, my friend. Maybe, uh, learn the language before trolling, please.

  • @MordaciousFilms very poor is your family and my english is good enough, at least I speak 3 languages when you probably know only one :) so think again who has to shut up already

  • @futureboyzi

    Woah guys calm down

  • Damn,I never see any of these people.

  • I love this film. It's one you either hate or love. For me, I see myself and people I've known in it, plus people that are interesting to me.

  • it's all about getting around the system.

  • Amazing movie, watch it.

P.S: Even if youre not familiarized with the American subculture, you will find a lot of similar people around you, wherever you live.

  • haven't seen it yet, but it reminds me of Gummo with all its stories and crazy 90's hickness

  • No, thanks

  • You should, you should, you...YOU should....YOU SHOULD watch this movie!

  • aren't we all destined to die from the moment we were born? (to the comment below)

  • have you ever been to this shithole? just wonderin

  • This shithole is the cultural oasis of Texas. The film is a series of vignettes painting a cross section of the diversity of Austin, a wonderful place to exist.

  • @BGarrett5795 yes austin is so diverse. that's why there are no black people here

  • amen :D

  • fuck you!

  • @gulfsurfer14 naa chief fuck you

  • its realalistic

  • "Go beat the shit out of this bad guy and we'll give you a scooby snack" LMAO!

  • awesome movie

  • saw this last night. enjoyed it very much.

  • The dude on the right at 1:33 was exactly how I looked and acted throughout the 90s.

  • I think that's one of the most greatest things about this movie. One of these numerous characters are someone like all of us. I love Linklater and his works. I consider him as one of the most experimental American film makers in the new age. I consider Slacker to be one of my MOST favorite movies ever. I have watched the movies umpteen times and can never forget some parts of the vignette like first scene with Linklater himself. I watched Wizard of Oz again after this movie! Amazing movie!!!

  • Agreed, Pixie who is heading to Flushing.

  • allright Nut, never grow up, You are destined to die retard!

  • Why so negative? I was agreeing with you!

  • May be I should just say I was being silly and sick myself in that case!!! I am overworked and can't see what is negative?

  • "you are destined to die retard!" ? really? we're all fucking destined to die. you're fucking stupid.

  • you were one ugly dude then lol

  • I love Slacker!

    Very funny Independent Film!
