  • Bet she's great on the Pink Oboe??

  • You are good it's just that you need to like put musicality to it. Also, you are REALLY flat so push in next time. I am 12 and working on finding the best songs to play on the street corner.

  • keep up with your practice =) try warming up for 15min before each session, just simple scale and tonguing in different beats

  • We played this in our jazz band for 3 years, never once performed it..but I always got put on first alto..not bad..lol And your ligature is upside down.

  • Can you email the notes to me at mimichea295@gmail.com

  • your ligature is upsidown

  • ur ligature is on upside down!

  • @melody8628 no its not.

  • hey could you give me the notes please!! my mail is pbr_princesita@hotmail.com! thanks a lot!

  • very good!

  • This is fairly good for your age... I play this version all the time, it's really a wonderful arrangement... Just try and play it looser, jazz isn't supposed to be tight, it's supposed to flow... :) Although you may have improved it now...

  • I played this on mah clarinet for auditions. On mah tenor, its just..... difficult.:-( Great job, THUMBS UP!!!:D

  • Great !!! you do not stop practicing.

  • i can play it, nice impro but try to stick sort of to the meledy, like come back to it, oh and im 11 to!

  • thanks for the tip but this is actually my playing paul desmonds original solo. i didnt come up with the melody of the solo. oh btw im actually 13 now

  • @saxprincess1121 great cover of the original solo :) tough piece to improvise on....

  • @saxprincess1121 Lol, You mad at me? I'll make some videos and show you. lol.

  • your playing paul desmonds solo..at the start anyways..good going tho

  • How long have you been playing? You're pretty good, keep it up and you'll be amazed where you might end up.

  • Also You gotta swing all the time I'm hear some straight 8ths here and there! Always keep your fingers touching the keys even if you aren't pressing down on them. It will make for better note transitions! Try playing along with the original recording. Later on you can learn all the scales and stuff for the chords and start improvising over them instead of just playing along to paul desmond's original solo.

  • @hanj31 thanks for the advice! i realize that the song wasnt played with enough emotion like that guy said, but i just think that he could have told me in a way that was more...you know, nice. ill work on all the things you mentioned. :)

  • @saxprincess1121 no problem. Asian sax players FTW!

  • both of u guys are true! But as a msucian one must learn to take criticism! It's hard to please everyone in the music industry. u take the criticism and move on. Although I'm not sure what this person meant with that comment because I can't tell if he really knows what he's talking about when it comes to this style of music like me! And btw good job but the B section sounds a bit faster than the A section when u play the head. u might wanna try playing with a metronome.

  • well friend!]

  • no style whatso ever, you got 1/4. the next 3/4 is style.

  • i have wasted 10 years :P

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOPPS

    my eamil is austenvote@hotmail.com

  • HEy ur awesome at sax how long u been playing . can you pleas e email me the sheet music please please please ive been looking for it for ages !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW U R AWESOME THE SAX

  • From one alto to another, you are definitely doing a great job ^_^ keep on doing what you're doing!!!

  • Woooow!!!

  • @saxprincess1121 I play alto sax please send me the notes

  • Good job. -Justice Constantine

  • uaaaaaaooooooooooooo .There is still much to learn

  • @kateyluvluv856 the real book sixth addition has take five in in it, its a good book cost about 30-40 dollars

  • You go girl!:)

  • You need to turn on the metronome

  • play*

  • WHATS THE NOTES I LOVE IT ! but i cant lay at the moment :( :( cuz im ill and my throat is sore

  • I'm 13 & i played this song on my clarinet for jazz auditions!=-D Minus the solo/improv.

  • im gunna learn this and play it for the talent show :D:D:D

  • I PLAY ALTO SAX tht is pretty good i guess did you memorize it

  • most famous saxophonists aren't asian cause asians don't play cause they love it cause its just another subject ( not all asians )

  • wow hey could you put a vid with the notes or show us the sheet :) thanx im 11 years old and have been playing saxophone for 2 yrs i have been taking lesons at my school with one of my class mates and one of my best friends im going to try and get some music thats is a bit more complicated than i usualy play so wish me luck !

  • @kateyluvluv856 I got the full song from my teacher and I'm unsure where he got it from, but I have a shorter version without the solo in Paul Desmond: 10 Jazz Favorites. It's a Hal Leonard book. Hope this helped. :)

  • that is amazing i have just started sax (about 2 weeks ago) i dont thinck i will get that good but my sisterhas done all here grades

  • wow so nice to hear this song im 11 years old and i cant play any instruments i got alto sax this year in music wish me luck to play like her

  • Very good for a girl!

  • Garota você toca muito bem !!! Parabéns Sucesso ...^^>>

  • attention at your fingers!

  • Really nice job! Just make sure the tonguing is a bit smoother and you'll be perfect. Otherwise amazing job for an eleven year old!

  • i am eleven to and i play as well and i hope to soon learn how to play this inspirational piece!! i do not think that just because you are aisan that you are different from me or any one as inspiring as you

  • five stars !

  • I play alto sax and I can only DREAM of being that good!! T_T

  • beautifull.....=) congratulations, we are in Brazil

  • Hmm, not too bad. Just watch some of the articulation there. Some of the notes had far too much attack on them. Loosen it up and feel it a bit more and you'll have it awesome. :-)

  • Your AWESOME at sax and i might be playing one and its either that or trumbone so im trying to decide.... Do you have any tips for me with sax?

  • I've been working on this for a month or so and found it's pretty easy just to play the notes, but to match the dynamic contrast, musicality, tone and overall feel of the song that Paul Desmond does is very difficult. That comes with experience though, so I'm sure you'll get better as long as you listen and practice.

  • I am 11 years old to and I can play this! I also play alto sax

  • you're great!!! keep it up!!!! cheers!!!!

  • 11 years old. Nice. I'm 61 and I want to learn how to play alto sax. Hope I can make even a nice sound coming out. Still have to get a horn first. Been looking all over the internet, ebay and would like to get an American made horn. Vintage one like a Buescher, Conn. what do you think?

  • So uh, like you and I have to jam....

  • :) your amazing but not as good as me!!!!! Im prove on not sllapping so much and try to sound more like the sax god kenny g.

  • What the hell? You're eleven and can play like that?? Oh, you're some type of Asian. It makes sense now.

  • @ZeldainPark Half white, half FIlipino. Hey, everybody can play well if they try hard! Most famous sax players are not Asian. Amazing, huh? Haha. :)

  • @saxprincess1121 and u girl : ))) BRAVO!! i am 30 (a bit late) and iam on my way start learning the sax..i hope to be as good as you : )), xoxoxo

  • @saxprincess1121 haha im half white and half filipeno and i play the alto haha. xD

  • @saxprincess1121 From a fellow sax player: your doing a great job, keep it up! oh and awesome reply ;)

  • @ZeldainPark asian sterotypes arent tru none are tru in fact

  • @korinoriz Really? Name me a stereotype that isn't true. I'm not saying it's right to say them. I'm not saying it isn't cruel to judge people by race. All I'm saying is that all stereotypes are true.

Most blondes are stupid. Most black people think they're cooler than they are. And, damn it, every single Asain is good at what they do.

  • @ZeldainPark I am NOT good at math, and I'm Asian! See? Stereotypes can be true when applied to some people but not all of them apply to everyone of that race. :)

  • Dont listen to the negativity from all these professionals. Your amazing for 11 yrs. old . Heck Im 62 and only wish I was as good as you. Keep playing you will be great one day.

  • My god! You're awesome! Congrats! Keep playing that way! ;)

  • That makes you about twelve now then, very, very good. impressed..Don't stop playing.

  • Damn girl... you made my day.. i´m 21 and i´m starting with it... hope i can get to the point where u are in this video soon...!!! INSPIRATIONAL!

  • @DibDabDub7 Thanks :) Good luck in your playing. I'm glad to inspire lol

  • @DibDabDub7 hi, iam thinking starting learning sax as well!! it will be a dream if i manage it!! i hope ur doing well, good luck : )

  • Juliana very good ...this is great because as you continue to play you will get better. Come back listen to this video next year and make a new video of this again for us all to hear...keep on playing :c)

  • Guys stop hating if Dave Brubeck heard this he'd be pleased hearing his song played like that by an 11 year old

  • each note needs improvements!

  • shrill tone

  • good job Juliana you have a wonderful talent u should be playing on americas greatest talents or somthing

  • @YoMama5065 wow im not good enough to be on americas got talent but thanks :)

  • wow thats really good how long did u pratice?

  • @hahahazzzzzz i learned this song a couple of months before i made the video. i practiced it about four or five times a week, for about half an hour.

  • @saxprincess1121 dont you lips start to hurt when you play too long?

  • @hahahazzzzzz Haha sometimes because I just got my braces off yesterday and they used to scratch the inside of my lip when i played. I'm used to it though... it doesn't really hurt much. My teacher said your thumb is supposed to hurt more than your lip because the instrument's weight is meant to be supported by your hand instead of your mouth.

  • @saxprincess1121 oh i though it was only me. Hey are you going to upload any more sax videos?

  • @hahahazzzzzz maybe...probably by this summer. i've been really busy lately :/

  • @saxprincess1121 i mean by the end of this summer

  • I am so jealous of your talent.

  • Wow, that's impressive considering your eleven! I'm fifteen and just learning this, I can't play it as quickly as you can...

  • AWESOME Job!!!

  • WOW!! this is AMAZING!! im 14 nd about to learn this!! soooo good even for an adult!

  • ok. it looks like a mark VI.

  • why does an 11 year old have a mark VI?

  • @billman2121 i dont. i have a selmer bundy II. It was used.

  • terrible

  • great job :) could you tell me where you got the music?

  • Like this if there is no way you could have never played this when you were 11. I couldn't have.

  • Pretty Good except you should work on your "feeling". BTW check put my vid if you want, I'm playing first concertino and I'm 13. Sorry to advertise on your channel :O

  • Really, you're good for your age.You have good breath support. You know, I was in the ninth grade before a teacher of mine told me I wasn't playing with enough air, so keep it up..and don't let the other instruments tell you that you're playing too loudly, the saxophone is a beautiful instrument, let your sound ring!Don't quiet down for anyone. Also you're very brave for putting this on YouTube, flaws and all. It's a good thing that you can take criticism so well. Keep it up!

  • @2gifted4nubsluvr thanks :)

  • @2gifted4nubsluvr dude did you start late or did you play for a while before you were told that?

  • @ciscoj8 both

  • Youre awesome!! Im in 6th grade jazz band, and this is my first year playing, and i hope soon all be as good as you! almost there!! :)

  • Youre awesome!! Im in 6th grade jazz band, and this is my first year playing, and i hope soon all be as good as you! almost there!!

  • keep it up it sounds great

  • Ok I'll work on feeling more. :) TY!

  • you play allright, but the point of jazz music is the feeling.

solos are supposed to be improvised, not learned or played by memory.

you should try to improvise something :)

  • You played it alright. Very well actually, considering your age. However, try not to tongue your notes so heavily. Take 5 is a very laid back and cool song, so the notes shouldn't sound so harsh. The triplet notes should sound a bit more like passing notes or grace notes. You should still play them all correctly, but dont focus so much on them. Also, be careful of your intonation. Keep working at it and you'll be great!

  • @asianlover93 Ok. I'll work on it. You see, when I finally learned how to play this song correctly, all that mattered were the notes. Now that I can play this song correctly, these tips are helpful to improve my sound. Thanks. :)

  • Very nice!! and only 11? keep it up!

  • The Alto Saxophone Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice!! im 12 playing this song im gonna uplode me playing this on my alto sax so i could help you learn better!

  • No bad girl, but this is JAZZ you got to feel the music you playin'

  • @EvilNoize Ok, I'll work on that. Thanks. :)

  • @EvilNoize yah i agree she doesn't really show any emotion which kind of makes you not want to not really heir the song

  • I am really tired of these piss poor remakes of one of the greatest jazz songs in american history.

  • @BlueBurryPimp Thank you for the "constructive criticism" of my "poor remake". Please UPLOAD something for me to LEARN from.

  • @BlueBurryPimp So you have nothing better to do with your life than to bully an 11-year-old girl on the Internet?! She can play/post whatever she wants to, without your consent. I would like to see you do any better at that age.

  • @BlueBurryPimp Why don't you have a go...The girl is making an effort, Jesus man! why dig people like that.?

I wish I could play the way this young lady does, wtg girl :)

  • AWESOME!!! u play goreguos! i play for 1 year and try ty

  • good. im 14 and i play tenor. hrd song, but u nailed it. tips plz?

  • @dfleming143 Thanks! Just keep on practicing, focus on one part at a time, and pay attention to details. Good luck!

  • Wow you've come a long way and your still young. I'm 18 and your playing puts me to shame. Keep it up :)
