  • Sounds pretty loud for a floating bridge / end piece setup. I like yellow cedar too been using it on my last batch for inside blocks, bracing, necks and a couple tops. The grain on the stuff i have is about 30 rings per inch , like you said it is a dream to carve. I got some sitka spruce and flamed maple to make a bent side uke when you get that one done.

    Ps what kind of lathe is that in the background?

  • Arch top instruments are supposed to be loud. Most of the yellow cedar I have seen is fine grained. I would generally use Sitka spruce for braces as it is much stiffer than yellow cedar. The lathe in the background is a Jet mini wood lathe.
