When I was an EMT in NJ, I once attended a similar crash. Southbound SUV flipped over the divider, bounced off two northbound cars, and landed on its wheels in the southbound lane. Two dead on scene (including SUV driver and eight year old boy) and one dead shortly after (boy's mom; dad was driving and survived with multiple injuries).
Totally crazy accident scene and no way to avoid an SUV falling on you at 100-120 MPH impact speed.

I'm not saying they should invest money they don't have in a premium wall. It's due to your right eye generally being stronger and more dominant in your vision and thus you are more 'aware' of things happening on the right side of your field of vision - which would be oncoming traffic. Also, when driving a manual car, using your dominant hand (right hand for right-handed people, of course) to handle the steering wheel while changing gears with the left is much safer than the other way around in most cases. The statistics speak for themselves.

@cupyupice96 I was referring to the SUV that lost control. The car that had the camera had no fault and it would have made no difference what type of car it was. I am not even convinced that he is speeding. The SUV that was sliding down the road completely out of control is a different story completely.

@kennethrobinson11231 It's a fact that per capita, drivers in countries that use the left side of the road have fewer collisions than drivers in countries that use the right (and by quite a large margin). Google it - the reasons why are really rather interesting.

@TheSestren I remember a British science show, QED, examining this question and their research showed that it was safer for right handed people to drive on the left of the road, and most people are right handed of course.

@podfunk Indeed. It's due to your right eye generally being stronger and more dominant in your vision and thus you are more 'aware' of things happening on the right side of your field of vision - which would be oncoming traffic. Also, when driving a manual car, using your dominant hand (right hand for right-handed people, of course) to handle the steering wheel while changing gears with the left is much safer than the other way around in most cases. The statistics speak for themselves.
