OMMMGGGGGGGG I LOOOOOVEEEE YOUUUUU!!! PLEASE MOVE TO ENGLAND AND TEACH ME ALL THE CHEMISTRY IN THE WORLD. I ALWAYS STRUGGLED WITH THIS....SEEMS SOO EASY AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO. THANK YOU SOO MUCH AND GOD BLESS YOU X
Khan speaks in circles, going back and forth between things. Completely incoherent when explaining things. I know cause I tried watching his Diff E videos
@IVdaaze No need to be rude. They're both excellent teachers. I watched many chemistry videos of both. I find FreelanceTeach's videos easier because he repeats himself and covers much more material.
@8:30 you mention that some elements from the left hand side of the periodic table are open to the concept of incomplete octets. I believe you meant the right hand side of the periodic table, but what you meant to say was the left hand "P block" elements are open to incomplete octets.
I was just watching this as a review before going into conjugated dienes and electrophilic attack, and I wanted to help clarify.
I agree. He is great!!! However, I have sent him a message and he has not replied yet. I have a great idea, and I wanted to get his opinion on it, but not the right moment to share it on you-tube. See!!! There are 2 more people, who believe that we should have more teachers like him. I got an A and A- in both of my upper division O-chem classes, and I can't say that it was all due to Steve, but there were times that I was lost and his ways showed me the way.
You are a great teacher. I love the way you give examples for better understanding. You take your time and explain it thoroughly. I can definitely use you as an instructor. Please keep posting videos. They are very helpful to people who have a hard time understanding chemistry like myself. A++
I must learn more about Steve, but just doing what he has done so far already shows his dedication to education and just his personal greatness. I personally have helped 100 of students in my own classes when he teacher were not there or were unable to explain something. Soon I will be getting my BA degree in the sciences and I feel that I have to just float away and I can't contribute because the system requires you to have 100 Ph.D. degrees but they never ask you if you can teach or no!!!
Hi, All. First of all, I musts say that I am speechless with respect to his teaching methods!!! And I thought I was good!!!!! However, I must add that I have been observing a trend. Now everybody say that he should be teaching and that you guy would like to have him as a teacher. But, either people are duped by the system or just don't have a way to approach this problem, but why don't you guys demand your schools to have a superb instructor like him teach at their schools????
I'm on o-chem 1 and we have a homework problem that addresses this topic, but between 2 text books we haven't found a single mention of Huckel's Rule. This is a better explaination than I could have hoped for and is so incredibly clear and complete. THANK YOU!!! Keep up the fantastic work, sir. :)
@jman7152 I'm taking a 5 week summer orgo 1 class right now, and we've just started doing aromatics, I think it all depends on the school and instructor's pace. Though I should also note that I bought orgo 1 for dummies and it includes aromatics as well.
how can the carbon in H-C=-C-H have a sp hybridized orbital when each P bond in the triple bond between carbons is individual (one sigma and 2 pi) and then plus the P bond to hydrogen
thanks alot!! i couldn't do well in organic chem in my 11th n 12th grade because of which couldn't clear any entrance to a college. thanks . your lectures are really helpful in clearing my basics. thanx alot.
Cheers, pinknoodle. Organic chemistry is ridiculous no matter how you slice it, and people willing to take the time to explain it are few and far between. I wish this guy had more videos, though, because our lecture series is about to fly by the topics he's covered.
Gee! Thank you for explaining everything so clearly. This helps really well because you go a lot slower than my 100 mph teacher. With these vids I can actually remember everything you say... Thank you!!!
You kinda look like Bill Gates haha, not intending it to be an insult, more a compliment actually. Thanks for the help!

hey i have a question,
why is tetralin considered to be aromatic? if a compound has part of it aromatic, is it still considered to be aromatic then?

heroinheroiscool 2 years ago
Hydrogen doesn't have p orbitals. It's easier to think of inear molecular geometry having sp hybridization.

if it is aromatic then yes it is a whole number (integer),
if it is propagator of 0.5 (ie: 1.5) then it is anti-aromatic...
