@testfriend666 David holds in his hand and rocks it in rythmn to the song. I don't know what he has inside it that gives off sound. Neat guy though, and very talented.
I just watched the movie and heard Bistro Fada for the first time. The movie would not quite be the same without the song. They compliment each other. Kudos Stephane
The point of music is that there's an infinite number of ways to arrange all the pitches and rhythms, yet here we are presented with possibly the best way of doing so
@Zarooga Hey man, you're looking ridiculous. History tells about people intolerant to different opinions who were concerned with penis size like you are..
I loved the gypsy swing theme for the film Midnight in Paris. I want this kind of music to flood America. We desperately need a dance break from the horrors of hip-hop..
@FlippinFlaves The coke can has loose objects inside ( coins, BB's etc). The hole is taped up and when he taps his foots it becomes a shaker. He doesn't play percussion on this song, however. Guitar players do this sometimes due to both hands are in use and since you are already tapping your foot, why not add a shaker to it.
@aleantonel Is there any where that he gave credit to this as inspiration? I feel like he totally ripped it off, and everyone is looking for this song and not realizing the true artist behind it.
yes. very astute. it's basically the same chord progression, same rhythm, tempo, and scales. Django wrote & recorded montaigne st. genevieve like 60 years ago. and we know Wrembel learned that tune cos we can see him playing it here:
@ascott51088 - that coke can, rubber-banded to David Langlois's foot, is filled with "rattle sand" like a giant shaker egg. On his lap is a board with an odd collection of pots, pans and magical percussive items, from which his fingertips (both bare and adorned) extract such rhythms and emotions that people are nearly driven sane as they become entranced. (He's not playing them on Bistor Fada, but did he awe the audience at DFNW.)
Stephane and the guys played this at DFNW, and as awesome as it is, they ended their show on even higher ground - the audience was literally lifted from their seats by the music. If you ever get a chance to hear Stephane and his band play live, don't pass it by. I hear he plays regularly in NYC - check the listings.
I estimate this is the 345th I have watched this in 24 hours. And Im not satisfied yet. I can watch it a lot more times. How about the expresion of Stephane when he finishes? Its like he was playing the easiest song, like its nothing compared to what he can do.
@jansport0409 well my friend, if you practiced this song 345 times in a row in a day, you would be good at it too (which I did, since my new GF loved the song and wanted me to hear me play it on my accordion ;))
@emremokoko I really look forward to your version of the song. Now that you mentioned it, it truly has an accordeon mood Im sure it would sound lovely. I gotta be honest after 2 months Im starting to be satisfied. Im only watching the video 6 times a day.
@jansport0409 this song is in the genre of "gypsy jazz", and if you like this song so much, there are others similar to this one. Try listening to "la valse des niglos" or "valse a bamboula" on youtube. You will probably like them too.
@manucreole let me know if you find the tab to this anywhere please ! i feel like i have looked everywhere and i cant find it but i'm so in love with this song.. :3
holy shat....he plays the chords so freaking fast. THAT WAS AMAZING O:

testfriend666 1 month ago
@testfriend666 My guess is that it has a marble or coins or something in it that would rattle around when he taps his foot.

@aleantonel it has the same chords but an easier and thus more accessible melody for a non-trained audience.
