This reviewer does speak the truth about the some-what clunky game-play however that does not detract from the awesome story line and great visuals... and most importantly it is Fun! and does not try to take itself seriously (and 7 / 10 is not a bad score for a game but I would bump it up to a 7.5)

I'm currently over half way through the game, and it's decent but i think IGN actually overrated it by giving it a 7. I would give it a 6 and say that it's a classic case of style over substance.

This game is the shit, I'm enjoying every second of it. BTW I'm in the Castle of Hassle, first time playing through, and it didn't take me more then 5-10 minutes to beat each boss. It's alll about using the right Johnson at the right time.
I just beat the game recently, and this review is really disappointing. The game received mixed reviews of people who thought it was great and people who thought it was only okay and outdated, but I thought the game was enjoyable. all the way through. Maybe it's my titled love of aesthetics and substance, but I thought the game was full of it and variety in gameplay, enemy combat, and situations with fantastic audio and art direction and a charm and weirdness no other game has. It also was fun

This game is the shit, I'm enjoying every second of it. BTW I'm in the Castle of Hassle, first time playing through, and it didn't take me more then 5-10 minutes to beat each boss. It's alll about using the right Johnson at the right time.

I just beat the game recently, and this review is really disappointing. The game received mixed reviews of people who thought it was great and people who thought it was only okay and outdated, but I thought the game was enjoyable. all the way through. Maybe it's my titled love of aesthetics and substance, but I thought the game was full of it and variety in gameplay, enemy combat, and situations with fantastic audio and art direction and a charm and weirdness no other game has. It also was fun

@trana500 Not saying this game is bad, but Catherine is a good game which does something different & actually takes skill. Plus Atlus makes really great games so if you categorise it with 'anime crap', then: no1 - thats insulting to Japanese people (anime being a reflection/ large part of their popular culture) who make the games you play, no 2 - A Japanese guy made SOTD so your argument itself is weak, and no 3 - you're as bad a reviewer (a stereotypical one at that) as you claim IGN to be.
