@Thriller94 Oh, I'm sorry your balls haven't dropped yet... but don't always judge the performance of the performers. That is just how they were told to do it. The director thought it would be fun to do. It is often times a director's choice. He was making decisions and he didn't care if you liked it. He wasn't going for what the audience wanted he went for what he wanted. So you can suck it and judge the director and this is from a high school's performance, not normally "professional" anyway.

May I also note that the first two are professional companies, we are merely a high school, say what you will. But I bet in High School, you couldn't come close to the caliber of performance executed in this video.

@gitterfritter well, because this is a high school production and VERY few tenors of that age have a high B flat. And I also find it ironic that you pointed out this missing one high note but said nothing about Poor wandring one being a fourth lower than the original :p which really isn't a big deal either. And come on, that was quite an amazing performance for people that age. Do you think you could have done better at 18 years old ?

I'm extraordinarily impressed with your voice and your mimicry of Rex's performance. You've got the gorgeous peculiarities of his timbre down very well! I'd have to agree with you TRWolf, the shouting sisters probably came from that awful movie. Like it the movie, they pronounce Mabel, Maybell.

Still, this is better than some of the "professional" versions here on youtube. The Simon Gallaher ones are atrocious.

I DON'T like the shouty daughters though, sounds like they've copied the movie version doing that, which I didnt like either. It should be sung, not shouted. They were good for the rest though.

Mabel was very nice, and hit some hard notes! :)

No offense, but the whole chorus is slightly out of tune, and why are they shouting? Also, why cant I hear the instrumentals? Also, Frederick can't even hit the high notes!

Hmm.... I would really like to know what you think of as "out of tune"? And the shouting is to make them seem more pouty, I am sorry if that was to your disliking but it was meant that way. Fredrick was most definately hitting his notes, sure some notes may have been moved, but he was hitting all the notes. The sound board that was running sound obviously had the orchestra turned down a bit so when this was recorded, there was a little bit of orchestra lost.

Sorry about that comment, my sister always forgets to log into her account to post things! I personally think that this production is very good. Although some of the notes your Frederic sings are definitely different from the original score, he's a very good singer. We're doing this production at our school right now, and our Frederic is not very good (he only got cast because everyone thinks he's better looking than the other candidates) so I can appreciate that yours is doing an excellent job!
