@santoyo85 u press towards at the point of impact for high attack and down at the point of impact for low attacks. mid attacks can be parried by pressing
garbage......why do scrubs consistently believe that parrying is key 2 winning in 3rd? practice some fucking combos....kara throws....kara demon 5x in a row is harder den this bullshit....u can punish da bitch after da 1st 8 hits...no need 2 do a full parry of super unless u just r completely scrubbed out 2 da visual idea of it looking "so kool dude"....also she can be thrown out and or jab out of this super on 1st frame.....plz incorporate "skill" into ur vocab as this couls shit aint skill
@gemini4lyfe3001 True, parrying isn't everything, but learning to parry effectively is pretty handy in 3rd Strike. Combined with good usable combos, a steady hand, and a lot of practice, parrying can be very beneficial for a 3rd Strike player. The fact that it looks cool is a minor factor and is mostly to impress the fans/audience. The parry system was a good choice by Capcom Imo.
@KalasMibari my point exactly....because it "looks cool" thats the reason why this vid and 3rd Strike in general is gettin attention...not because of a strong and deep fighting system or the fact that this is the only SF game with no ABSOLUTE GUARD (meaning no guarantees.... no auto block after initial blocking of first hit and releasing guard input like the VS series that includes MVC3 and SF2 Alpha series EX and Super Scrub Fighter 4)
@blahblahgdp learning how to "tech" or parry doesnt constitute a full offense and defense...there is something called "parry bait"...mind games, spacing, wakeup games etc all contribute 2 victory....not just "teching"
@gemini4lyfe3001 yo and tick throwing wit a dash of mixups. thats summ' you forgot to mention. Im not a fan of throwing.....but tick throwing is MAD important 'specially if you got a turtler on ur hands X^D And im tryin to practice tick throwin and from what ive witnessed that takes a bit of skill and practice too.
this man only parry chun li combo in his PC XD not in a arcade with a 1 enemy..this video is make for a bunch of loosers..like the protagonist who do this : )
at some point, its only a matter of rhythm memory. tap-tap-tap-tap...tap-tap-tap-tap. but then again, street fighter in general is, at some point, like playing piano anyways.
I've been trying to parry that super but the only times I do it are luck and even then i don't finish the parry. How do you know when to time parrying Chun Li's second super?
@AVGegg more like NO health, 20 seconds to end, last round with a bunch of guys recording it and screaming on his back and being on a supreme championship
holy shit i get tense just from thinking about it, Daigo was truly a hero!
You should try to air parry the last kick though, because you can then add the jump kick to your conterattack combo... but you know it I think ^^
For those who say that parrying this Super Combo is simple, I'd say "yes it is not so hard" but the important thing is to be able to make it during an actual fight.
By the way, I wish so much that Capcom used that Parry system in SF4 :(. It was noob repelent, but 2 noobs could have a good time playing the game without bothering to parry !
Nice vid, but the first two don't count. Ken was Auto-Parrying, you can tell by the blue flash. But I have to give you props on the last one, good job!
i can finally parry this attack and it took me 3 days and it has become much easier. I do the same thing like this guy, all straight parry although i can jump on the last kick and combo it differently just like Daigo did on his match against Justin. not too hard to parry but just pay close attention at the very start because I had problems. the rest is easy if time right.
instead of me practicing combos, i am practicing the parrying attack because it is by far more effective than just regular guarding. I can parry some attack and some supers, and now i will attempt to parry this move. street fighter 3rd strike is one of the best fighting game out there. cool man you just done this shit 5/5
he didnt have to jump. jumping is the easiest part
the hardest part is the middle when she changes side. the thing is i parry a lot but when i parry other supers i always forget the timing of this 1 until i practice on training mode
The parrying was good, but you really need to punish alot harder than just a shoryu or hadoken, go for the biggest amount of damage you can possibly land.
Most people I've seen that parry that combo in actual fights generally short hop up and parry the last blow, doesn't this allow better combo opportunities?
cool.. can you tell me how you did that?? I am trying it but I can only block it in the basic way. You are blocking it in another way. I am just blocking by pressing backwards.
I ended up reading your description AFTER watching your video. I feel like a total dickhead lmao. Sorry, man. I was just getting tired of all the Daigo wannabes recording themselves parrying a 2P Chun-Li off their emulator and uploading it like they're kings of SF3 lol. My bad.

bitch plz...stop fooling ppl wit this fake shit...if u were really parrying da super u wouldve been buffering his stance...and because u think parrying iz some all elite shit itz not...parry bait counts 4 set ups 2...tryna parry a air projectile parry or ground leaves u wide open 2 other attacks...come wit some real vids of u in battle doin dat shit....den ill hold u in high regard but stop postin bullshit
That's not necessarily skill. That could just be the auto-parry setting in the SF3rd Strike options. When you pull off a full parry, then do a three hit combo, that involved a cancel, into a super, then I might consider it skill.
Just wondering, how long did it take you to parry that attack. I played Justin Wong when he came to the UK and I got raped. I hate playing against Chun Li but I am trying to learn every characters styles in a fight and parry more often
Yeah, after watching the Daigo comeback, I got myself hooked on Third Strike. I practiced that parry like mad. If Chun-Li pins you against a wall and does it though, she gets an extra hit in there somewhere.
fake, fake, FAKE! think about it! i know that peaple are able to do this but look,if you see, its possible that he did this in the recording at the parry training! and i have a proof, look at the bottom of the video, the power of chun-li, he augment just after that chunli did her super!you cant say the video is true!
I've seen people do this to me in the arcades, and I myself have done some crazy things with the parry system. It's not fake, just extremely difficult to pull off.
a person who can parry well is someone who can parry opponents moves without toying with their character's special combos...chun li's comebo kicks are very predictable... try someone's like guild or e honda or even blanka.
yeah... I gotta say though, I like that one... say that someone is a liar (with a creful "probably", just in case someone pulls you up on it, then pump up your own image, and make light of something which is cleartly not to be taken lightly... seems like a good way to very briefly boost one's rock bottom self esteem... I'll keep that one in mind
I'm not sure if he parried. It has no match winning shown beside the clock (the dots that say V, S, C, D (Rarely). and he can just bullshit and put it on auto-parrying in parrying training mode. I can do that too. I'll make a video too with me parrying it. and i'll even show that the auto-parying is off.
Maybe you just can't parry. Parrying is what makes games like 3s and 2nd impact equal within characters. Sure Chun-li and Yun are fairly cheap. But if you know how to parry well and can do good combos with Sean your set.
The generally accepted top 3 are Yun, Chun, and Ken. If you pay attention to tournament results, the ones who finish on top use these three characters most of the time.
My friend uses him I probably need to put some matches of him playing with him. I know not many people play with him or Elena either. Even though he is low tier if you know how to parry well and know what combos to use with him he can become a decent character.
That's a different question, though. I like Makoto and Dudley, myself. But they're obviously just not as powerful as Yun and Chun, if you know how to use them. Can you win with them? Maybe. But they're still not as strong.
For those that can't quite get this down, do this. Go into parry training, recording, do chun-li's super and listen to the "hoo!"'s from Ken. Memorize this rhythm, they are all the same except for the short pause between kick 7 and 8 (or 8 and 9 if you're in a corner) and last, then the rhythm picks up again. time it so you press forward JUST BEFORE you would normally hear Ken's next "hoo!". Biggest mistake you can make is try to judge the next parry by the animation.
I'll add a video if anyone wants showing how to do it on a PS2 controller, both in corner and in middle, just lmk, if you saw me do it, you'll be able to do it no problem.
Basically the last hit of Chun li's super is a upward hit. People jump because when they Parry it, they have air advantage. So when they parry the last hit they can do the following with ken:
(Parry last hit in mid air, when coming down press with ken) medium kick, down medium kick, Medium Shoryuken, (Super Art) Shippu Jinrai Kyaku. Its how Daigo won his match aginst Justin Wong. Im pretty sure you have seen it. =)
Too bad this game is dead

What are you talking about.

Makoto can be god-like if used by a pro. o.O Is she really low tier? Cause i've been owned by her alot. DX Dudley... Not so much. ^^

Haha Makoto low-tier!
No, she's high (but not top)

Dont think just cos someone sees u do it its gonna make it no problem, they still got to memorize the timing its tricky.

Good job on parrying.

Just press Forward (yeah the oposite way of a normal block) a bit before the hit gets to you, thats kinda all.... still very hard mastering.
