I have a problem i did everything on the video, and when i load clips into ableton and the pad lights up but when i press it nothing happens the volume knob isn't going up and down when i turn them in maschine as well the play button doesn't work, and i swear i did everything in the video. It just isn't working...help please?
My Ableton does not have a live button on the top left corner to get to the preferences and I am running Ableton 8, I just bought the Maschine and I just switched from FL Studio to ableton so i'm pretty lost here can anyone help?
Finally Got to the End. Hands Down the BEST Tutorials I've seen in a long long time. They're divided up shortly so we don't lose attention, they're concisely yet fully informative, and the guy isn't annoying.
THANK YOU Native Instruments, Other companies take note! This is how you make tutorials for your products.
I consulted the controller manual and found no dire need to consult it. Why was this guy so adamant about refer to the control manual before proceeding. Why can't I do it after proceeding. After all. its 77 pages and he just tells us to read it. Who wants to read a 77 page manual. Not me.
yup got to be Maschine over the APC -40 i'm looking to invest in a piece of kit shortly and got to say Maschine wins hands down, it just seems so much more creative than the basic controller that the APC is.
I wish I knew about this BEFORE I bought my APC40... And I just ordered Maschine a few days ago from Zzounds. Has anyone used both the APC40 and Maschine to control Live? Any thoughts? I'm thinking it may be more time efficient to use both.
@ksharp1979 after a few hours of working with maschine in midi control i can't see using it to control live. maschine works best at what it was designed for and the APC is too big for my setup). once they figured out the bugs on touchable on the ipad it has become my best solution to control live.
we are waiting for your response ... that we are doing bad or it is that native instrumnts us to teased in preferences midi of ableton there does not exist the maschine that we do bad 455euros in for listening to samples jooo...
the video is very well but for those that you have mac and those that we do not have please like to form maschine ableton live 8 for those that we do not have mac thank you
I'd imagine you could use maschine to punch out a drum pattern with Live's Drum Rack or anything like that couldn't ya. Or still trigger samples etc? Please reply
I have a APC40, maschine, Komplete 7 and Ableton 8 Suite. I also have Traktor Scratch Pro but I'm thinking about getting Rane SL3 might be icing on this cake setup. Ableton rocks with the maschine for creating beats, Komplete for my synths, APC40 controls everything playing live, but it would be nice to scratch my clips using the serato bridge!
Oh yeah check out Native Instruments "The Mouth" by Tim Exile, simply awesome!
@christwagon1980 When you said "would be nice to scratch my clips using the serato bridge" what exactly did you mean?....Im asking because I have Serato the sl1 and i am thinking of purchasing the maschine but i wasnt sure how if it would work with serato and a regular mixer.
@Boutit5150 Actually Ableton's sound engine can't play clips backwards only forward. Serato on the other hand can do both well. Lets say you want to scratch an Ableton clip with acapella, not so hot. Instead play Instrumentals using Ableton clips and do the scratching of acapella's with Serato. My previous comment is incorrect.
@christwagon1980 Thanks a lot for the tips man......here will be my setup.....2 Technics 1200's with the Serato Sl1 box and last but not least the maschine with ableton live.....let me know if you see any problems with this setup...thanks again man.
got it as a control surface which is tight but i cant get it to inner act with maschine when i swicth to maschine it turns off tried mixing it with plug in not happenin appreciate alil more insight to the blind
Native Instruments have got it Sewn Up! Maschine, X1,, Guitar Rig, TRAKTOR Scratch, Ableton etc. Rane are looking very over priced next to this level of intergration. I hope NI sort out a mixer to rival the 68 (cos that fucker is waaaaayyy too expensive!!)
I have all the factory sounds from every drum machine made in the last 20 years including the AKAI MPC range with MPC programs and much more all in high quality 24Bit .wav. Perfect to load strait in to your MPC / Maschine or sampler of your choice.
Trust me, you want it I got it I have everything!

Hi, please can someone help me...I have the Maschine installed, and the software works through Windows and I also have the Live template working but I can't seem to get the software to open as a VSTI in live, I've tried everything - can anyone help? Cheers
i dont think it will work with reason 4 stand alone. might work with fl studio, assuming fl is vst compatible. (dont want to sound like an arse, but i dont think reason 4 is technically a daw...)
The APC40 and MASCHINE are two VERY different things, each with their own strenghts and utilities. Comparing them is like comparing bicycles to roller skates.
I own an APC40 and love it... but am also considering purchasing Maschine. They should complement each other nicely in a studio setup, as well as live.
the apc40 is designed SPECIFICALLY for ableton, so of course it's going to be more suited to ableton than the maschine, this video just shows you that the maschine can work with ableton too, and explains the preset maps for it..
I'd definatly pick the maschine though personally, it's much more flexible than the apc40
i'm not sure maschine will be more flexible when max for live comes out, the possibilities will be limitless. Still no point if ableton is not your main DAW.
Unlike APC40, I can use Machine wiht other products and for various purposes besides just triggering samples. Great concept, short on practicality that APC40.
FutureMusic, often quite shy about bashing products, gave APC40 as seething of a review as possible, while remaining "nice". They might have as well called it unwieldly, oversized piece of unfinished shite (not in those exact terms, though).
I'm lovin the MASCHINE. Flip to the dark side, DarkShroom - experience the beast
You're missing the point Musixboy, the video shows how you can use Maschine and Ableton TOGETHER! Getting the best of both worlds. For only $200 bucks more for Machine, you get a whole lot more than the APC, which is just a controller.
can i do this with live intro???????

how do you set up maschine to be in channel 8? is maschine running as a vst or standalone?
rockyraccoon1 2 weeks ago
C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Controller Editor\Template Support Files\Ableton Live 8\Maschine_Controller <- copy that folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\Ableton\Live 8.2.5\Resources\MIDI Remote Scripts
vileguile4 3 weeks ago
To get it to appear in Ableton, You've got to copy the Maschine_Controller folder to LIVE/Contents/App-Resources/MIDI Remote Scripts

dude this is just ONE function of it. This is hardware to make music which can also be a midi controller. APC works just as midi controller.
So they are different things. If you want to just control ableton then go for apc.
