@gledalac1979 Middle eastern countries have been fighting nonstop since the beginning of time. They aren't happy unless they are killing and stealing something. There's no way to stop it, my view is just let them keep killing each other (in Syria, for example). I do wish the US would pull out of the Middle east completely and just let them have at it. Israel is more than able to take care of itself, the US has been actively holding them back for years. Maybe that was a big mistake.

Hey I didn't hear any americans protesting their regime when they were bombing and invading Serbia or for that matter Iraq or now Libya. Democracy makes the majority of the people in any one nation happy, which is clearly the best policy, and as the US is the most militarily powerful country in the world, it cannot stand by in good conscience and watch mass oppression, hence the foreign military presence. @Mr135223 - The impact plus the jet fuel IS enough to bring the structure down. The design of the two towers is such that the outside looks sort of like a cage. That's what supports the building. Severing the beams around the exterior puts added strain on the other beams until they all failed. As for the eyewitness accounts, explosions heard can be accounted fore by combustibles inside the two towers - NOT bombs. The firefighters didn't lie, but it was an honest mistake on a stressful day.

As for the collapse itself? It's called a pancake collapse and is a recognized phenomenon, and was well before this incident - first recognized in the 70's. The structural support on a floor fails. (lets see, the ones with huge raging fires softening the metal and big holes in them already?) Then everything above it falls on top of the stable floors below, but they can't handle the impact, and gravity and inertia cause the same to happen to each floor below in turn.
Conspiracy theorists are morons. "Jet fuel doesn't burn hot enough to melt steel!" = you fail metallurgy forever - you don't have to melt metal to get it to fail under weight, you just have to soften it, and jet fuel is more than hot enough to do that.

No way, it had to be some stupid controlled demolition. my brother worked at the WTC during this time. He was supposed to be at a meeting on the 105th floor of the north tower that morning but he had forgotten some important paperwork at home and returned home to get it when the first plane hit. Later he told me that being forgetful had saved his life that day.

I was in high school. They had just installed televisions in every homeroom. In upstate NY it was about 8:30-9am, so we were in homeroom. They told us to stay in our homerooms and turn all the televisions on to the news. We watched the second plane hit and then they sent us home.
I was in 5th grade when this happened. We had just came in from recess and our teacher came into the room about 15 minutes late. She was crying. Then she explained to us what had happened. I can still remember being terrified cause my dad was in Poland for work at the time and I was scared that he may have been on one of the planes. When I got home, it was on every channel. I sat by the phone, waiting for my dad to call. I remember how unbelievable the whole thing was then and even now.

IE the planes were just animation, THERE WERE NO PLANES OR WRECKAGE FROM ANY OF THE CRASH SITES, IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB WITH CONTROLLED EXPLOSIONS NOW PROVEN!

Raz, I felt the same way you do until one day someone showed me "911 in Plane Site". I watched it more of a joke, but when I saw photos of the Pentagon BEFORE the roof collapsed I could not believe my eyes. I don't want to believe it, but there is no way that a 737 caused that damage. Again, look at the building, look at the windows where the engines should have hit, NOTHING! I would love to believe that a 737 can conveniently collapse into one 12-16 foot hole but it just can't.
Explain the photos of the Pentagon Raz. Why is there no damage to the building where the massive engines should have smashed into the building. The planes severely weakened the buildings cores. Then when the fireproofing was blown off during impact, the steel buckled, pulling the top 20 floors roughly down, and the lower part of each tower couldnt carry the weight.
Uh the Empire state building had no problem when a B52 Bomber hit it. People so forgetful of the past. give it a few more years and generations and kids wont even be aware of it. Mom whats an LP? I watched BBC that day, and saw no problem with them. I was 11. I was more interested in the loss of life, than the 'poor' coverage. Thank God that BBC is here. They do some of the best news reports in the world. Look at 7/7, look at the recent IRA attacks. They were on the spot with them.
I quite agree that it was not a race, and of course the loss of life was more important than the coverage. Nevertheless, judged by the criteria that the media use to evaluate their efforts in covering such tragedies (aka events), can anyone convincingly demonstrate that the BBC were on form that day?
Having looked back at the live footage from Sky, BBC, ITN and the American Networks, the BBC's performance left an awful lot to be desired. They were too slow to get things out and at first were still calling it an accident even after the 2nd plane. They also reported WTC 7 as collapsing long before it did. They were terrible. They day is about the victims and thier loved ones of course, but the role the media played on 9/11 was paramount. The BBC didn't do a good job at all in my opinion.

That's pretty sad that it took BBC News 3 minuets to find and show live shots from New York about the North tower falling down. If your a technical director you have to keep your eye on all the video monitors in the control room so you can show those shots live as it happens no matter what, but good video.

Th BBC is a highly credible news operation, but its anchors here exhibited a bizarre lack of human reaction and emotion. If you look at other news services (including ITV), the anchors were exclaiming and reacting, as humans normally do. Something about the BBC demanding that their anchors maintain a certain demeanor on the air. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Interesting point, but offcourse the BBC is there to report the news in a factual and unbiased manner without taking sides or appearing to be emotionally involved. Certainly you can detect an unease in their voices which clearly shows them to be human. Don't forget that 100,000 people have just died in China. If you expect the reporters to be emotional during 9-11 then what do you expect during a report from China.

It only says live on the pictures where the towers have both collapsed. Where the two BBC presenters are doing the bulletin they are using prerecorded footage.
At about 6:00 into the video it says live on a shot that's clearly recorded, though this is obviously just an error rather than a conspiracy. The newsreader, obviously seeing that, says the picture is live. Then someone realises the mistake and "Live" disappears at 6:19.
Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetance. This sort of mistake happens.
I started a tape recording what I was watching that day (before the full scale of the tragedy became clear). I was watching CNN when the second tower collapsed, and it's interesting to see how it was covered on ITV.
BBC1 stopped showing live pictures after the first collapse. I got the feeling they did it because they didn't want to be showing anything too upsetting so near the time that children would be turning on for CBBC.

There's no way to stop it, my view is just let them keep killing each other (in Syria, for example). I do wish the US would pull out of the Middle east completely and just let them have at it. Democracy makes the majority of the people in any one nation happy, which is clearly the best policy, and as the US is the most militarily powerful country in the world, it cannot stand by in good conscience and watch mass oppression, hence the foreign military presence. @Mr135223 - The impact plus the jet fuel IS enough to bring the structure down. The design of the two towers is such that the outside looks sort of like a cage. That's what supports the building. Severing the beams around the exterior puts added strain on the other beams until they all failed. As for the eyewitness accounts, explosions heard can be accounted fore by combustibles inside the two towers - NOT bombs. The firefighters didn't lie, but it was an honest mistake on a stressful day.

As for the collapse itself? It's called a pancake collapse and is a recognized phenomenon, and was well before this incident - first recognized in the 70's. The structural support on a floor fails. (lets see, the ones with huge raging fires softening the metal and big holes in them already?) Then everything above it falls on top of the stable floors below, but they can't handle the impact, and gravity and inertia cause the same to happen to each floor below in turn.

God Bless England for standing with us when this happened. I can still remember watching tv as the US national anthem was played at Buckingham Palace and just crying. Even though America is obviously a huge country, I had this odd feeling of us kind of being alone, and when I saw our national anthem being played, I was overwhelmed by this feeling of knowing that we still had friends, and it made me feel like we weren't alone.

He was supposed to be at a meeting on the 105th floor of the north tower that morning but he had forgotten some important paperwork at home and returned home to get it when the first plane hit. The BBC were so slow on the uptake on this, if you look at the BBC footage, the anchor woman has no idea that she has just shown the second plane goes in, and takes a good 3 mins to realise it you will also notice that the reporter on the ground says it was justan explosion, and he was there! IE the planes were just animation, THERE WERE NO PLANES OR WRECKAGE FROM ANY OF THE CRASH SITES, IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB WITH CONTROLLED EXPLOSIONS NOW PROVEN!

Raz, I felt the same way you do until one day someone showed me "911 in Plane Site". I watched it more of a joke, but when I saw photos of the Pentagon BEFORE the roof collapsed I could not believe my eyes. I don't want to believe it, but there is no way that a 737 caused that damage. Again, look at the building, look at the windows where the engines should have hit, NOTHING! I would love to believe that a 737 can conveniently collapse into one 12-16 foot hole but it just can't.

The planes severely weakened the buildings cores. Then when the fireproofing was blown off during impact, the steel buckled, pulling the top 20 floors roughly down, and the lower part of each tower couldnt carry the weight.

thing is tho, even tho BBC did not manage to relay to the world that both towers had collapsed quicker than ITV, it is not a race. They told everyone eventually. I watched BBC that day, and saw no problem with them. I was 11. I was more interested in the loss of life, than the 'poor' coverage. Thank God that BBC is here. They do some of the best news reports in the world. Look at 7/7, look at the recent IRA attacks. They were on the spot with them.

Nevertheless, judged by the criteria that the media use to evaluate their efforts in covering such tragedies (aka events), can anyone convincingly demonstrate that the BBC were on form that day?

Having looked back at the live footage from Sky, BBC, ITN and the American Networks, the BBC's performance left an awful lot to be desired. They were too slow to get things out and at first were still calling it an accident even after the 2nd plane. They also reported WTC 7 as collapsing long before it did. They were terrible. They day is about the victims and thier loved ones of course, but the role the media played on 9/11 was paramount. The BBC didn't do a good job at all in my opinion.

That's pretty sad that it took BBC News 3 minuets to find and show live shots from New York about the North tower falling down. If your a technical director you have to keep your eye on all the video monitors in the control room so you can show those shots live as it happens no matter what, but good video.

Th BBC is a highly credible news operation, but its anchors here exhibited a bizarre lack of human reaction and emotion. If you look at other news services (including ITV), the anchors were exclaiming and reacting, as humans normally do. Something about the BBC demanding that their anchors maintain a certain demeanor on the air. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Interesting point, but offcourse the BBC is there to report the news in a factual and unbiased manner without taking sides or appearing to be emotionally involved. Certainly you can detect an unease in their voices which clearly shows them to be human. Don't forget that 100,000 people have just died in China. If you expect the reporters to be emotional during 9-11 then what do you expect during a report from China.

At about 6:00 into the video it says live on a shot that's clearly recorded, though this is obviously just an error rather than a conspiracy. The newsreader, obviously seeing that, says the picture is live. Then someone realises the mistake and "Live" disappears at 6:19.
Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetance. This sort of mistake happens.

I started a tape recording what I was watching that day (before the full scale of the tragedy became clear). I was watching CNN when the second tower collapsed, and it's interesting to see how it was covered on ITV.
BBC1 stopped showing live pictures after the first collapse. I got the feeling they did it because they didn't want to be showing anything too upsetting so near the time that children would be turning on for CBBC.
