The guys in the John Cale band, plus members of Lydia Lunch's band, 8-Eyed Spy, loved our version of Sister Ray. We never played it at CBGB's but we did elsewhere in NYC.
I normally hate headless basses myself but my trusty P-bass was giving me problems & this cheap Kramer had a neat, punchy tone. It was a great rehearsal bass. Having a metal neck, I could throw it in the boot of my Karman Ghia & not worry about it. I'm a Fender fanatic & if there were more footage of my band extant, I wouldn't use this clip -- not just because of the bass but because it was a bad hair night. But we made a pile of money & everybody left hot, sweaty & satisfied.
That was wrong on so many levels :/
