This is why we must preserve REAL HIP HOP!!! This was one of the greatest hip hop video's I've ever seen. A King Legend being bigged up by a Today Lyrical Giant in Rhymefest. Rhymefest is a BEAST!!! He was the only one I've heard that Eminem gave props to for beating him in a MC battle. Funny listening to how hot Kane's lyrics were compared to Rhymefest because Kane dropped this in like '89. Respect!
Fucking ace, mad creative, can't believe it's a year old and this is my first time viewing though! Anyone questioning if it's a real battle though need to take they're head's out they're asses and go listen to "warm it up" plus Fest say's at the beginning that this is a dream! Perhaps that's why Hip-Hop ain't what it was - THE LISTENERS!!!!! C'mon peeps, pay more attention and actually take in what you're listening to!
@thaferociousemcee its pretty hard to sound like that without a mic..And you can tell it wasnt even taped together or else you would see them both together and at the end it says thanks to kane for supplying the footage of himself.Great fuckin video though...Brillant

@sfknns LL has NEVER lost a battle on wax, son!! He bodied Kool Moe Dee (good fight, though), Ice-T, AND Canibus!!! LL been rockin' bells since '85,yo!!!! daboss88100, kool moe dee killed LL as well as canibus those are 2 battles pretty boy didn't win on wax son! even if canibus couldn't put together an decent ep or album (nice try he has) that still doesn't prove LL to be a better mc on the MIC! koch? @daboss88100 , LOL someone's career being "fizzled" out still doesn't determine who one a rap battle! thats a whole nother story! this is not a battle of selling records sir its a battle about lyrical skill & disses! surely by now you should realize anything LL touches goes plat even if its a shitty product such as all his albums since phenomenon LOL! sorry I don't think you know very much about canibus! hes made classic & quality albums! so you're telling me 90s mcs were wack? more jokes!
@sfknns LL bodied Moe Dee with "Jack The Ripper"...to me, the battle was OVA then...Canibus was not even worthy of tryin to take shots at LL...name ONE classic album "Bis done??? He barely can keep his joints ON LINE, let alone on a major...I was personally feelin the work LL did from 1985-1990 when he was "HARD AS HELL"...all that after that was on some "love song" s**t, for the most part...I don't believe 90's rappers can go toe to toe with the best MC's of the 80's...NO!!!
@daboss88100 , LOL Kool Moe dee ended the battle with deathblow sorry & overall Moe dee is just a better lyricist! bis wasn't even worthy? LOL right he crushed LL with 2 round ko,Rip the jacker, & all the subliminal disses he threw at L from 98-2002 LOL! name a classic album from bis? how bout 2000 bc, mic club, rip the jacker, c of tranquility!
@sfknns By "Death Blow" the battle had LONG been over!!! Moe Dee was still trying to get even...Lol Your opinion is your own on if Moe Dee was a better lyricist than LL (THAT is debateable...), and I STILL haven't heard WHY Canibus even deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as a hip-hop LEGEND in LL?? ALL Canibus albums were average...NONE were considered CLASSIC...you MUST be a Canibus fan!!! Lmao Yeah, he DO have "battle rhymes" for days, but his ALBUMS sucked!!! ijs
@daboss88100 , LOL sorry the battle was still going espcially when LL still took shots at moe dee on mr smith album in 95 LOL! kool moe dee took it just like canibus! of course I'm a canibus fan I'm also a fan of LL I just know when to be reasonable! you haven't heard any canibus albums cause you just asked me whats a classic bis album! I'm sure you haven't heard any canibus outside of 4,3,2,1 & Second Round ko especially when you said his claim to fame was a hot 16 on 4,3,2,1 LOL!
@daboss88100 , LOL canibus albums weren't considered "classic" by you or people who don't listen to canibus that makes perfect sense LOL! I don't listen to kiss or metallica so why should someone expect me the think their albums are classic? Bigger & deffer is a classic LL album but my dad thinks LL cool j is complete garbage actually he thinks all hip hop is LOL! he has rhymes period for days more than your boy LL has thats for sure!
@sfknns Where did it GET him??? Canibus will NEVER ascend beyond what he is: A BATTLE RAPPER!!! Most of his rhymes are on science or math...not to say knowledge is a BAD thing, but he will never attract a wider fan base if he can't expand his subject matter...ijs
@daboss88100 , LOL canibus raps more about math & science dude! he raps about conspiracies, social issues, political issues, & braggadocius raps! the dude can be versatile people just don't wanna give duke a chance! sorry man some mcs just aren't gonna expand their subject matter can't hold that against them! I mean why should canibus be trying to attract the same people who listen to lil wayne & soulja boy? he aldready has a set fan base & hes sticking with it!
@daboss88100 , & by the way, its funny that you say hip hop in the 90s was unoriginal & uncreative because of gangsta & bling bling materialism rap yet I see you on your profile arguing that jay-z is better than nas? illmatic nas? the nas that was seen as the second coming of rakim that nas? LOL jay-z is 1 of the forunners of bling bling rap dude! he did has some good shit though but still you're killing me with that!
@sfknns IN MY OPINION, Jay-Z is a superior MC to NAS...I look at both of their overall body of works, lyrics, wordplay, stage performances, record sales, everything...J-HOV is STILL Dat Nigga!! I will take "Reasonable Doubt" Jigga over "Illmatic" Nas, anyday, by the way... BOTH are GREAT MC's, i simply prefer Jigga, pound for pound...
@daboss88100 , sorry nas has jay beat on wordplay & lyrics LOL I don't remember anybody saying jay-z was the second coming of rakim! I don't think all of jay's albums were all that I only liked Reasonable doubt, in my lifetime, hard knock life, & blueprint everything else was trash to me! I think nas only bad album was nastradumas, & I am was medicore at best! illmatic was better lyrically but RD had better beats!
@daboss88100 , no 90s rapper can go toe to toe with any 80s rappers? sounds like you slept through the whole decade either that or you're biased as hell (I think the latter) LOL! rhymefest right here is from the 00 era & hes holding his own with kane in the video so what makes you thinks cats like gza, redman, ghostface, pun, lord finesse, andre 3000, nas, canibus, ras kass, phife dog, biggie, Big L, large professor, etc couldn't go toe to toe?
@sfknns Out of all those cats you named, over HALF got they styles or WHOLE FLOW from MC's of the 80's!!! No biase HERE, yo!!! I would take Rakim, LL, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D, Kool Moe Dee, Run-DMC, Whodini, Kool G Rap, Special ED, Ice Cube, Ice-T, hell...even HEAVY D, over HALF them catz you named!!! Hip-hop began slowly dying once the "Gangsta Rap/"Bling-Bling" Era got ushered in...originality and creativity left the building...smh
@daboss88100 , LOL wow man I mean who's not gonna be inspired or got a style by people who came before them in anyting? still doesn't make them better just because they came first! these cats came out in the 80s man you can't blame those cats I named for not coming out at the right time LOL! lyrically half the mcs you named can't hang with the ones I named cept rakim, kane, g rap, cube, & moe dee of course! Ice-t? wu tang would crush Ice-t son! give me a break!
@sfknns I don't blame ANY MC for what era they came up in, i'm simply stating the true lyricism, style, and originality in rap was beginning to lag (if not die) during the 90's... Not ALL MC's, no doubt, but a good majority. You obviously SLEPT on Ice-T's early work: The ORIGINAL Gangsta!!! Go back and check "Rhyme Pays" album, then tell me Ice can't hang...smh Wu-tang Clan?? Them niggaz ain't in Shaolin!!! lmao
@daboss88100 , I didn't sleep on Ice-t man I know dude has some wicked shit but I still don't think dude can hang with wu tang especially gza, ghostface, meth, deck, & the chef! gza killed it with that cold world shit!
@daboss88100 , LOL come on son! hip hop was still good in the 90s to, the bling bling rap didn't even come till the late 90s when cash money. no limit, puffy, & several others ushered it in! anything before that was boom bap! the gangsta rap you can blame that on cube, geto boys, compton's most wanted, & nwa LOL! sorry its always been there! besides there was crap in the 80s to but they had plenty of quality mcs just like the 90s did!
@daboss88100 orginality & creativity left the building? so nas wasn't original or creative? wu tang clan? organized konfusion? outkast, ras kass, redman, cypress hill, digable planets, black sheep, tribe called quest, del the funky homosapein, big pun, lord finnese, beatnuts, leaders of the new school, main source, arrested development? how about the fugees, gang starr or black moon? give me a break LOL! you seem biased IMO!
@sfknns Of course you will be able to name a FEW exceptions to the rule (Jay, BIG, Nas, 'Pac), but OVERALL?? I stand by my quote...Besides, of those you named here, leaders of the new school began in the late 1980's!!! Those MC's and groups may have been diverse, don't exactly mean they were original or bringing something NEW to the table...I give you outkast, Pun, and Gang Starr though...
@daboss88100 , yeah but leaders of the new school didn't make albums until 91 so its basically the 90s! just like gang starr had that 1 album in 89 but their best shit was the 90s step in the arena, moment of truth, hard to earn, etc
@daboss88100 online joints? thats hard to believe seeing as theres a site dedicated to canibus plus youtube & various other sites have canibus' joints! & bis was signed to universal his first 2 albums after that he went independent so fuck a major lable LOL! besides it would be funny seeing a good mc repping the same "major labels" that are populated with junk like lil wayne & soulja boy LOL!
skymunro and loveistaught.. I respect and appreciate how y'all talked that out and fully explained your views in detail.. Both of y'all made valid points across the board, hip hop is very much alive. The internet provides an easy tool to pick out what you want to listen to or watch. Unfortunately,I think alot of hip-hoppers who prefer emceeing as their favorite element are getting frustrated because it's the hardest skill to bring advancement in. B-boys and Turntablist have advanced tremendously
you dont know what the fuck you're talkin about...you dont know any real rap today b/c everything you refer to today you still base off of radio play..stupid.....
That's a lot of animosity I sense in your tone, LOL
Look I prefer reality rap not that horrorcore and gangster rap bullshit that's just a bunch of dummies glorifying the same wickedness i.e. selling drugs, killing people, and destroying your community.
there is alot of animosity in my tone, your absolutely right, I read shit like that way too much, people who claim to know rap yet dont dig for it when thats the position raps im right now. Im talking of groups like Zion I, Living legends, hieroglyphics, CYNE, Restoring poetry in music, Aesop rock, Mr lif, C Ray Walz, Reks, vordul mega, Vast Aire, Chief kamachi, killah priest, Wordswwoth, Masta Ace, Rakims new album is dropping this month, Raekwon only built for cuban links 2 has dropped
Dude I listen to most of those artist you've mentioned and the ones I haven't heard of I will check out because I admit you seem to know your hip-hop
BUT like you said the mainstream rap that's played on the radio and promoted is what is being mimicked by the youth, why is that? because the youth has know idea about digging and searching for rappers that talk about things other then my gun is this big, they don't even respect artist like that.
That claim of "gangsta" is ignorant bullshit. There has always been an element of hood or toughness in rap. Hip hop has and always will be indicatively reflective of where it comes from. Unfortunately all of mainstream rap these days is founded in a Record execs boardroom with too many A&R fat cats and big wig suits molding projects together as if they were boy bands from the 90's. So what is this candy cane nursery rhyming bullshit going to reflect? Sure as fuck no streets....
Yes their has always been a street element in hip-hop but the difference in the hard core rap songs of the 80's & early 90's is that it had a rhyme, reason and out come also rappers like NWA were actually saying something that made sense.
Case in point The Message, C.R.E.A.M., everything P.E. did is reality rap.
If I lived in England & listened to 2days rap I would think all black & spanish people r gang bangers, women r bitches & their communities r war zones which is just not the case.
that was real live! Much respect goes out to this as new breeds dont do enough to pay respect to old schoolers. I remember Kane paying the same respect to dolemite! I'm sure he really enjoyed this!
If this went over some of y'all heads, the song Big Daddy Kane is rapping is the original version which was done in 1990! Rhymefest dropped his inclusion in recent times. You do the math. Kane's lyrics from 2 decades ago could see Rhymefest verse of today. Rhymefest is a Certified Rap Killa. Just ask Eminem, as in, he once battle Em and beat him. Rhymefest ain't no joke but this promo battle was ALL THAT! I know this was done in to respect and admiration for the god MC, Big Daddy Kane!
That was hard how they did that. They need to put other old skool MC's with new skool MC's and do that again with all of them. That was hot making them look like they are really battling.

I don't listen to kiss or metallica so why should someone expect me the think their albums are classic? Bigger & deffer is a classic LL album but my dad thinks LL cool j is complete garbage actually he thinks all hip hop is LOL! he has rhymes period for days more than your boy LL has thats for sure!
sfknns 9 months ago
@sfknns Where did it GET him??? Canibus will NEVER ascend beyond what he is: A BATTLE RAPPER!!! Most of his rhymes are on science or math...not to say knowledge is a BAD thing, but he will never attract a wider fan base if he can't expand his subject matter...ijs
daboss88100 9 months ago
@daboss88100 , LOL canibus raps more about math & science dude! he raps about conspiracies, social issues, political issues, & braggadocius raps! the dude can be versatile people just don't wanna give duke a chance! sorry man some mcs just aren't gonna expand their subject matter can't hold that against them! I mean why should canibus be trying to attract the same people who listen to lil wayne & soulja boy? he aldready has a set fan base & hes sticking with it!
sfknns 8 months ago
@daboss88100 , & by the way, its funny that you say hip hop in the 90s was unoriginal & uncreative because of gangsta & bling bling materialism rap yet I see you on your profile arguing that jay-z is better than nas? illmatic nas? the nas that was seen as the second coming of rakim that nas? LOL jay-z is 1 of the forunners of bling bling rap dude! he did has some good shit though but still you're killing me with that!
sfknns 9 months ago
@sfknns IN MY OPINION, Jay-Z is a superior MC to NAS...I look at both of their overall body of works, lyrics, wordplay, stage performances, record sales, everything...J-HOV is STILL Dat Nigga!! I will take "Reasonable Doubt" Jigga over "Illmatic" Nas, anyday, by the way... BOTH are GREAT MC's, i simply prefer Jigga, pound for pound...
daboss88100 9 months ago
@daboss88100 , sorry nas has jay beat on wordplay & lyrics LOL I don't remember anybody saying jay-z was the second coming of rakim! I don't think all of jay's albums were all that I only liked Reasonable doubt, in my lifetime, hard knock life, & blueprint everything else was trash to me! I think nas only bad album was nastradumas, & I am was medicore at best! illmatic was better lyrically but RD had better beats!
sfknns 8 months ago
@daboss88100 , no 90s rapper can go toe to toe with any 80s rappers? sounds like you slept through the whole decade either that or you're biased as hell (I think the latter) LOL! rhymefest right here is from the 00 era & hes holding his own with kane in the video so what makes you thinks cats like gza, redman, ghostface, pun, lord finesse, andre 3000, nas, canibus, ras kass, phife dog, biggie, Big L, large professor, etc couldn't go toe to toe?
sfknns 9 months ago
@sfknns Out of all those cats you named, over HALF got they styles or WHOLE FLOW from MC's of the 80's!!! No biase HERE, yo!!! I would take Rakim, LL, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D, Kool Moe Dee, Run-DMC, Whodini, Kool G Rap, Special ED, Ice Cube, Ice-T, hell...even HEAVY D, over HALF them catz you named!!! Hip-hop began slowly dying once the "Gangsta Rap/"Bling-Bling" Era got ushered in...originality and creativity left the building...smh
daboss88100 9 months ago
@daboss88100 , LOL wow man I mean who's not gonna be inspired or got a style by people who came before them in anyting? still doesn't make them better just because they came first! these cats came out in the 80s man you can't blame those cats I named for not coming out at the right time LOL! lyrically half the mcs you named can't hang with the ones I named cept rakim, kane, g rap, cube, & moe dee of course! Ice-t? wu tang would crush Ice-t son! give me a break!
sfknns 9 months ago
@sfknns I don't blame ANY MC for what era they came up in, i'm simply stating the true lyricism, style, and originality in rap was beginning to lag (if not die) during the 90's... Not ALL MC's, no doubt, but a good majority. You obviously SLEPT on Ice-T's early work: The ORIGINAL Gangsta!!! Go back and check "Rhyme Pays" album, then tell me Ice can't hang...smh Wu-tang Clan?? Them niggaz ain't in Shaolin!!! lmao
daboss88100 9 months ago
@daboss88100 , I didn't sleep on Ice-t man I know dude has some wicked shit but I still don't think dude can hang with wu tang especially gza, ghostface, meth, deck, & the chef! gza killed it with that cold world shit!
sfknns 8 months ago
@daboss88100 , LOL come on son! hip hop was still good in the 90s to, the bling bling rap didn't even come till the late 90s when cash money. no limit, puffy, & several others ushered it in! anything before that was boom bap! the gangsta rap you can blame that on cube, geto boys, compton's most wanted, & nwa LOL! sorry its always been there! besides there was crap in the 80s to but they had plenty of quality mcs just like the 90s did!
sfknns 9 months ago
@sfknns I agree with THAT!!! Lol...I see you have done a lil homework on hip-hop history.
daboss88100 9 months ago
@daboss88100 orginality & creativity left the building? so nas wasn't original or creative? wu tang clan? organized konfusion? outkast, ras kass, redman, cypress hill, digable planets, black sheep, tribe called quest, del the funky homosapein, big pun, lord finnese, beatnuts, leaders of the new school, main source, arrested development? how about the fugees, gang starr or black moon? give me a break LOL! you seem biased IMO!
sfknns 9 months ago
@sfknns Of course you will be able to name a FEW exceptions to the rule (Jay, BIG, Nas, 'Pac), but OVERALL?? I stand by my quote...Besides, of those you named here, leaders of the new school began in the late 1980's!!! Those MC's and groups may have been diverse, don't exactly mean they were original or bringing something NEW to the table...I give you outkast, Pun, and Gang Starr though...
daboss88100 9 months ago

This was the most creative vision of hip-hop I've seen and heard in maybe 4 years, thank you Rhymefest and Big Daddy Kane.
This rap shit today is garbage bcuz to many kids who want to rap want to be fairy tale gangsters.
loveistaught 2 years ago 3
you dont know what the fuck you're talkin about...you dont know any real rap today b/c everything you refer to today you still base off of radio play..stupid.....
skymunro 2 years ago
That's a lot of animosity I sense in your tone, LOL
Look I prefer reality rap not that horrorcore and gangster rap bullshit that's just a bunch of dummies glorifying the same wickedness i.e. selling drugs, killing people, and destroying your community.
loveistaught 2 years ago 3
there is alot of animosity in my tone, your absolutely right, I read shit like that way too much, people who claim to know rap yet dont dig for it when thats the position raps im right now. Im talking of groups like Zion I, Living legends, hieroglyphics, CYNE, Restoring poetry in music, Aesop rock, Mr lif, C Ray Walz, Reks, vordul mega, Vast Aire, Chief kamachi, killah priest, Wordswwoth, Masta Ace, Rakims new album is dropping this month, Raekwon only built for cuban links 2 has dropped
skymunro 2 years ago
Dude I listen to most of those artist you've mentioned and the ones I haven't heard of I will check out because I admit you seem to know your hip-hop
BUT like you said the mainstream rap that's played on the radio and promoted is what is being mimicked by the youth, why is that? because the youth has know idea about digging and searching for rappers that talk about things other then my gun is this big, they don't even respect artist like that.
loveistaught 2 years ago
That claim of "gangsta" is ignorant bullshit. There has always been an element of hood or toughness in rap. Hip hop has and always will be indicatively reflective of where it comes from. Unfortunately all of mainstream rap these days is founded in a Record execs boardroom with too many A&R fat cats and big wig suits molding projects together as if they were boy bands from the 90's. So what is this candy cane nursery rhyming bullshit going to reflect? Sure as fuck no streets....
skymunro 2 years ago
Yes their has always been a street element in hip-hop but the difference in the hard core rap songs of the 80's & early 90's is that it had a rhyme, reason and out come also rappers like NWA were actually saying something that made sense.
Case in point The Message, C.R.E.A.M., everything P.E. did is reality rap.
If I lived in England & listened to 2days rap I would think all black & spanish people r gang bangers, women r bitches & their communities r war zones which is just not the case.

But Kane can see anybody period.
mhc12k 2 years ago 3
