  • You are supposed to take off of an inside edge not an outside. You're basically doing a loop..

  • a half wallie and a half flip are the same thing!

  • 1:02 How do you do that? I wish I could. I'm no where near it. I'm still 12 though. I still have time.

  • they're called loop jumps in the uk, not wallies

  • is a toe walley just a toe loop ?

  • first one was a half wally, not half toe.... she clearly doesnt use her left toe until she's forward.

  • isn't this supposed to be learned at freestyle 2?? and not alpha!??

  • ma wee sister can do this she can also do a full turn lol hehe she is really good :D

  • Are wallies just the same as a toe loop;half toe loop;half flip;flip;&a loop? Because i havent learned any wallies.

  • so it was a full wally and not a full toe wally. ok i think i understand...

  • my coach says wally's go off an inner back edge...and wasnt the last jump a loop?

  • @aj92507

toe wally is essentially the same as a toe loop only you use the LO3t that you use for salchow and change foot to put your left toe in the ice...that full wally looked like a loop but with a 3t...probably a similar connection with loop as with toe loop

  • This is a horrible walley... a walley is supposed to take off on an inside edge... the demonstrator clearly changes to the outside edge on the take off

  • @jordandodds1 - this is the best wally i have ever seen,,,,

  • @ FlutistMary2 The other videos posted by these people are superb for teaching even small children the basics. They also include videos that show what you can work towards, its called motivation to learn. These are are incredibly qualified instructors. It turns out that you really don't know what you are talking about. Please don't mislead other people, that are interested in learning.

  • someones gonna fall on their ass if they try to do that!!! ouch, thats gonna hurt....

  • is that the standard olympic size rink??

  • At first I was like "well I could learn that!" Then she did the second and I was like "screw it." haha looks good though :)

  • I'm really a beginning skater. >.> [the beginner of beginner]

  • well this didnt really say how to do it.

    oh

and bad filming :/ never film jumps straight on. you can't see what the feet/arms are doing as well

  • i am in basic 4 and i want to learn how to do that so baaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddddddd

  • broing

  • So, the toe-wallie is basically a toeloop without the draw through......

  • my question is

are these tips also applied to normal skating (not in ice arenas)

    patinage

  • ummm..just saying this isn't even rly that complicated...it was one of the first moves i learned...=_=

  • does "how to "expert village offers insurance

  • Um...This is a DEMONSTRATION..Not a tutorial! Please change the name!Or your going to be sued for giving begginners the WRONG idea!!And plus it's not a wally it's kind of like a waltz..

  • Um...This is a DEMONSTRATION..Not a tutorial! Please change the name!Or your going to be sued for giving begginners the WRONG idea!!

  • the first jump shown is NOT a half walley or half toe-walley. It is an incorrectly done half walley. A walley is executed from an inside edge. What she is doing in the first jump is more of a bad falling leaf jump.

  • this isn't helpful at all!

  • so fast. cannot see properly

  • you can't even see that wallie! she's not in the camera

  • Thats not a wally. thats a loop. the wally takes off from a back inside edge.

  • the wally is supposed to take off on the inside edge, like a loop but on the inside edge. its a counter rotation jump, where the natural direction of the edge is different form the rotation. This girl did not do them correctly, what she did do was a loop that came down forward, a toe loop and a loop. I would consider the wally as difficult as the lutz (also a counter rotation jump) The wally is easy when you understand it.

  • how is this helpful? other teacher plz -.-

  • What on earth is a wallie? And that doesnt look easy, whatever it is... LOL XD

  • what the hack is a wallie?? :S

  • Not called wallie in U.S. and i would not recommend doing this without good instuction first at your local ice skating rink, its dangerous for people to watch videos and expect to learn like from a qualified coach, and even then you probably will hit the ice, but at least your not on your own.

  • she was looking at a script in the beginning...at least i think so :/

  • We don't have like Ice Skating instructures in Vado(norway) and we don't have an arena for skating eather, and I really want to learn how to Ice Skate : (

  • i can do a half toe walley and i just passed freestyle 2 today so now i get to work on fs3:]]]]

  • im from america, and i have no idea what a wallie is

  • lol same here! after what i learned, this is like the half flip, toe loop, and full flip! lol

  • me neither...

  • ive neva heared of a wallie in da UK we call dem half loops toe loops an loops i cn do dem an ime workin on axel an double salchow yay!!!

  • I would never try this from looking at the demonstration, but I like the way this jump looks. Sometimes the simpler things are more elegant.

  • i can do this. but in NZ we called them half loops toe loops and loops and the half loop is a full loop but landing on the other foot. At the moment im working on my axel and double salchow. any tips to help me?

  • if u look closely they're taking off of the inside edge, not the outside edge like a loop

  • hey I just want to ask if my blades are sharpened then will I skate( i am a baaaaaaad, awful skater)better or i will fall on my butt instantly?

  • i dont know if you got my comment because my page went off, but anyway... I got my blades sharpened today, and i found that i could skate better. I fell once today, and i have never fallen before but that was because i was feeling a bit daring (lol) and tried skating on my inside edge on one foot which i eventually did (Y) anyway...lean forward rather then backward. Thats why people generally fall on their butts(i think) . I always lean forward. But dont lean too forward. hope i helped x (:

  • It depends on how sharp you sharpen them. I just moved up to a higher level, and got my skates a lot sharper than I used to have them. It was a little stiff going at first, it really necesitated the use of that 'rocker' on the ball of your foot to turn and spin, and stopping was a lot harder. But if you're a beginner, you should really talk to a coach, or someone else you know for sure knows about skates. It really depends on your level. I hope this helped.

  • Thise is easy i can do it to i do a axel:P just try its not so hard as it looks:P

  • would be great to have an full instruction like in the vid's for very beginners.

i don't need to practice how to do a cross-over, but some kind like a nearer description for this jumps would help a lot :)

    greetz

  • i can do that!!

  • These videos are really a bad idea for beginning skaters. Trying to learn jumps and spins without proper instruction is not only dangerous, but can create bad habits that will need to be dealt with later in training. If you want to learn to skate, get a qualified coach!

  • I think this video is just clearly mislabeled...it's a DEMONSTRATION; there is absolutely NO instruction...someone's gonna hit the ice bad if they are really beginning skaters.

  • Oooo I have never heard of a Walley before lol, ive seen this jump in many videos, next time im at skating im gonna try it :)

  • Great! I can't wait to try this!

  • Please notice she does NOT look at her feet. As I have said before, you look down, you go down !!
