  • you should be fine without the relay as long as you let hid's warm up for 5 to 8 sec before starting....

  • what is your bike? i own a pulsar 200 and it has a time delay mechanism. i want to install an HID light but all the mechanics in my town says that if they will install the HID, there should be another switch and that it cannot pass to its original switch on turning the headlight on and using the passing switch. pls help.. thanks!

  • To answer the purpose. On a motorcycle, you turn on the key which turns on the lights, and then you push the start button which will turn off the lights while the engine is starting, then the lights will turn back on. This on and off process is bad for HID bulbs and ballasts so the timer relay will keep the HID's off for a set amount of time until the motorcycle start process is done.

  • Wow, I forgot about this video. I'm doing a retrofit on my new bike and was looking to see if I listed the info on this relay which obviously I didn't so sorry to those who asked. I just checked out and am going with MrJohnny's advice of the WolstenTech timer relay (Google it).

  • What is the purpose to the relay/timer? I understand that it helps with eliminating a battery drain?

  • The WolstenTech time delay relay is also a good way to accomplish this.

  • Do u know the website for this?

  • were did you get the timmer relay?

  • Hi there, excellent instalation thats what I need a timer relay as my bike as well has lights on permanetly so when i hit the starter lights go off for a few seconds, can you pls let me know what kind of timer relay did u use> and where did you get it from, many thanks!!

  • I seen plug and play HID's. Is this ok? or do I need a relay harness? The company I called assured me I dont need a Relay Harness.

  • plug and play is fine if not better less cluter on a bike, the ballast does all the work as long as they are good

  • Hey bud i too recently installed an HID hit on my 2008 gsxr1000 and im looking for a way to find a power source that only engages the relay only when the bike is running. Only because i heard it wears out the HID bulb if it turns on when on position with the ignition then go to start it for it to turn off and on again. Any help would be helpful.

  • that would be ur ignition or acc....

  • was it an easy install?

    how much modification was needed?

  • glare ftl.
