All of these songs suck! You should have had "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees, Love will keep us together by Captain and Tennille, something by the Carpenters as well as Lady ga ga,Justin Beiber, Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne!
4 or 5 off IMHO. Stairway, Like a Rolling Stone, Wont Get Fooled Again, & Freebird were all gimmees. Stones, Beatles, & Pink Floyd should all be there, but these 3 all had the wrong songs nominated. Bowie as a top 10 is questionable, and should probably be swapped for Hotel California or Smoke On The Water.
I really dislike it when people IMMATURELY use extreme spin & hyperbole such as "The Greatest .. xxx .. of ALL-TIME". The list-inclusions are ALWAYS purely subjective, & OFTEN quite-ignorant & close-minded. A FEW on THIS list are more than good .. but by no means are they "the greatest". You wanna hear ONE of the all-time best ?? Go look-up "Eagle Rock", here on YouTube, by a band named Daddy Cool .. it came out in 1971. Now, THAT ONE will shake your cobwebs out ...
stairway to heaven is a masterpiece but its soooo overrated by today's teens. led zeppelin made so many underrated songs. but what about creedence clearwater revival? baba o'riley by the who, (i can't) get no satisfaction by the stones, long cool woman in a black dress by the hollies, the doobie brothers, etc?
Love all the songs, but would have placed them differently - "Stairway" is clearly #1 there, without question. In the olden days, the radio stations would always assign #1 to Stairway, #2 to Layla and #3 to Satisfaction. Thanks for posting!
I would pick 1 Stairway to Heaven, 2 A Day in the Life or Let It Be 3 Come Sail Away 4 Crazy Train 5 Whole Lotta Love 6 Money 7 Roundabout 8 Surrender cheap trick 9 Dogs pink floyd 10 Lucy in the sky with diamonds elton version 11 Ballroom Blitz 12 I Am The Walrus 13 Close To You carpenters 14 Eruption evh 15 Black Sabbath black sabbath16 Another One Bites The Dust queen 17 Freebird 18 Imagine john lennon 19 I Feel Love donna summer 20 Spirit Of Radio, La Villa Strangiato, or Tom Sawyer. hmm
@metalfiend124 That's what I could come up immediately. There are so many good songs out there you would have to go to 100 to be fair. In a week from now I'm sure I would have some changes. You guys all have good top 10 lists. Rock On.
Whoever posted this: Don't worry about negative comments from idiots. You picked some great songs and you made the effort of posting a video. Applause. And for you guys ragging on this dude, shut up and make your own video if you don't like it.
10.David Bowie-Changes 9.Black Sabbath-Iron Man 8.Rolling Stones-Satisfaction 7.Pink Floyd-Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 6.The Who-Pinball Wizard 5.Bob Dylan-Subterrainean Homesick Blues 4.Lynard Skynard-Freebird 3.Beatles-Abbey Road Album 2.Queen-Bohemian Rhapsody. 1.Led Zeppelin-Heartbreaker,Livin,Lovin,maid 0.Led Zeppelin-Stairway To Heaven
Your definition of "Rock" is debatable. A couple of your picks are actually folk music. If you wanted to do strictly rock, you'd have to include at least one CCR tune. I'd also include a Stones tune. Jerry Lee Lewis would have to be on the list. Buddy Hollie deserves mention. Once you get that over with, Black Sabbath might take two spots. Zeppelin gets a nod, but not for "Stairway". Damn, I still have about 20 left. It's impossible to pick the 10 best.
Nobody is going to agree with all ten of someone else's picks, myself included, but I give this thumbs up because I love the idea of this toplist. How wonderful to be reminded of these various classics. I'd like to see more video responses and more comments that provide their own full toplists.
@klimiskastoria I guess I would call him Rock And Roll, from the fiftties. I think the lists were meant to start in the mid 60's with the Beatles and the brittish invasion, Hendrix and Cream. That's when I think people started calling it ROCK. I think it was to move past the fifties that had a lot of do wopp music.
@metalfiend124 I think a lot of people could come up with 10 Beatles songs only and some might even agree with that. Stairway to Heaven seemed to be the biggest song of the 70's and wasn't released as a single, I think. It was only on the album.
Pink Floyd - all end of story no band can touch them if you disagree search comfortably numb live at pulse and listen to the whole song.......... Make sure you have a box of tissues to clean up the mess, your welcome
@Jesusjuice31 I know a lot of people would agree with you, but the Floyd I like best has more energy. One Of These Days, Dogs, Money, Have A Cigar, Sheep, Astronomy Domine, Time etc. Comfortably Numb is known for it's great lead guitar and beautiful melody, but I've heard it quite a bit and the solo is great, but slow. I prefer the wilder, more creative Floyd. I was a little disappointed with The Wall. Animals was my favorite, and The Wall was a letdown. It was their masterpiece.
@metalfiend124 And I give full credit to the Wall for being their biggest achievement. Number 1 album, number 1 song. But I still go for the 3 earlier pink floyd albums when I want to hear my favorite floyd. When I first heard Animals, I loved it, and The Wall was just so different, and steady. run like hell and another brick in the wall were about my favorites on the album. Great sound effects, though. Just how I view them, I would be surprised if everyone had very similar lists
Let it Be? Probably the biggest piece of crap the Beatles ever recorded. David Bowie does not deserve to best on any "Best of" list of any kind. Stairway is the single most over rated song in Rock histroy. Proof positive most music listeners don't know crappy music when they hear it. Rest of the list is pretty much OK
Rock music is awesome because not everybody has to have the same top 10 songs.Personally I would have all there songs in my top 100 songs of all time.
@adfifield ...Ya, that's real mature of you, you homophobic slob! FYI.....a 'normal' song has 3 chords, Bohemian Rhapsody has SIXTY chords! It is a masterpiece of incredible complexities. Anything by Queen is extraordinary! And Freddie Mercury is/was/& forever will be the greatest frontman ever to grace the Earth!!
@Graffer24 ......Despite your moronic comment, I'm going to pretend that you can read....so, I'll refer you to my earlier remark to the other ignorant bigot (like you).
@ChessNutQueen hahahaha 60 chords?? Are you sure about that? Do you know what you are talking about retard? Why would you make a fool of yourself in public? You stupid dickhead!
There are quite a few I would have removed and a few I would have added. Where's Rush - Where's Yes? Where's Layla? I would totally take out Comfortably Numb for Shine on Crazy Diamond.
In 1973, I was in a basement listening to Iron Butterfly, and I remember telling my friends, when we get old - this music will our generations' Classical Music - Maybe we should call it Classical Rock? I would have a hard time narrowing my choices to 10, but I think Disco killed real rock
Have you ever heard Pink Floyds "Echoes" or "Shine on your crazy Diamond" or "Comfortably numb", your list should probably be the worst compiled of all, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Jimi Hendrix............Just check out 24 minutes of Echoes on y tube you twat u would probably forget about the stairway
I would make my top 10 list, but then I'd feel suicidal while having my mind exploding trying to choose only 10 of hundreds of truly relevant songs...
Lazy by Deep Purple. War Pigs by Sabbath, Aqualung by Jethro Tull, Baba O'Riley by The Who, Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd, Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden (I know people will say it's metal), 2112 by Rush, Gimme Shelter by the Stones, While My Guitar Gently Weeps by the Beatles, White Room by Cream, On The Hunt by Skynyrd, Running With The Devil by Van Halen, Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam (20 years old; i.e. classic), Highway to Hell by AC/DC, hate them but Dream On by Aerosmith
@LoreleiMission I was just surprised no one ripped me not having a Zeppelin song. It's been a week and nothing. I did it on purpose just to see if anyone would take the bait.
Are you 12? If you said my ten favorite songs fine. But your presenting your rather poor opinions as being equalt to Rolling Stone and they have never tried to define the ten best classic rock songs their lists are ussually at least a 100 and the result of the opinions of the whole staff of critics and writers, definitive? Probably not but much more intellgent then this.
Seriously?? you are kidding right?? lets start with Iron Man..Metal not classic rock...Freebird good but sadly over played + they had much better then we move on to Floyd...how about shine on you crazy diamond..100000 times better musically vocally and lyrically then we move onto the fact of no fleetwood mac no bad finger no zz top no rush and 10,000 others who deserve to be on here...sorry but you failed on this one ....better luck next time
@gen60bikerdude most people would disagree, and it's a SUBJECTIVE term, but I believe most people would not classify anything after the 80s as classic rock. Google it.
Also, not all rock is the same rock: listen to Eric Clapton and compare him to Nirvana; rock is diverse, which is why there are many different rock subgenres.
And most 90s bands are crap, IN MY OPINION. There's no point trying to argue this, my tastes in music are different from yours, period.
@garciaflats to agree with him then you are just as stupid as him....Dead alternative...What the Hell is that...No such thing...Rock is Rock regardless..what makes a song a classic, people talking about an individual track..air play has made those songs popular..And to call 90s rock crap..Then you have no idea what you are talking about..Try posting a message that comes from your head and not your ass...
David Bowie doesn't belong on this list. He's good but not top 10 good. Sabbath has WAAAYY better songs than Iron Man. Free Bird is amazing but personally I think if you're gonna pick a Skynyrd song it should be "All I Can Do Is Write About It" or "Ballad Of Curtis Loew" or "Call Me The Breeze" Stairway isn't even in my top ten for Led Zeppelin songs let alone classic rock in general. This is a list of most popular songs not greatest songs.
@9603903 : Do you mean THE Rolling Stones??? BTW, they ARE THE WORLD'S BEST R&R Band, this year will mark their 50th ANNIVERSARY, and are still touring and making NEW RECORDS!!!!! Can you name ONE BAND THAT can beat or match that? I didn't think so.... And for you Beatlemaniacs.....They broke up in 1970!!! lol
1-freebird 2-stairway to heaven 3-hotel california 4-night moves 5-war pigs 6-highway star 7-slowride 8-sweet home alabama 9-feel like makin love 10-lagrange
No no no! Who made up this list? This is the best: Mississippi queen,Up Around the Bend, All Right Now, Born to be Wild, War Pigs, We Don't Get Fooled Again, Stairway to Heaven, Hotel California, La Grange, & Sweet Home Alabama.
Interesting choices. Not sure I agree with all of them, but to each his own. Just one thing: the sound quality on this is really, distractingly bad. Sounds like a second or third generation cassette tape!
All STAPLES for a Cover Rock Band's play-list . Smoke on the Water , should be more on top of list a 'Must Do' song to cover. Bar bands get the request / no strike that / DEMAND to play Freebird.....back in the day Everybody did "Taking care of Business" not SO MUCH 'cause it was GOOD - more 'cause it was TOO easy to play !!!
......check out the NEXT SUPPER HITS of this decade.....search YouTube for
..."Killer Coconuts" "SOS who do YOU call" "early morning inspired" "IBEW drummer"
Making a rock song is a lot like making Brunswick stew. There are lots of ingredients that add the flavors and add to the enjoyment. And they all need to be there. Maybe this compilation should have been for guitar riffs.
@britsareit You are a retarded little shit who brings todays music (shit) into our cool (real) rock space so fuck off.

08XBonex 3 weeks ago
trying to issue such kind of ranking is simply bullshit cause many of even better songs are missing ...!
olissime 3 weeks ago

And for you Beatlemaniacs.....They broke up in 1970!!! lol

Interesting choices. Not sure I agree with all of them, but to each his own. Just one thing: the sound quality on this is really, distractingly bad. Sounds like a second or third generation cassette tape!

Maybe not my top 10 but top class anyway! Giime Shelter should be in everyone's top 10 if they have any cred at all :)
2barockandnot2roll 1 month ago
Some of the songs you picked aren't rock but rather pop songs. There are some real rock songs missing, e. g.
Iron Butterfly - In a Gadda da vida
Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath
Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water
and some more.

myopinion I got my last speeding ticket to this one RAM JAM BLACK BEATTY I was going 93 in a 55. The cop was extremely cool. he wrote it up at 73.
dwrockerforlife 1 month ago
The Beatles were classic, but rarely did they "rock" especially not on Let It Be, which is a piano ballad.

Maybe this compilation should have been for guitar riffs.
jockellis 1 month ago
Come on. "I've got you, babe" defines the '60s.

@jockellis Put it right by Let It be, as much as I love that song, LET IT BE IS A PIANO NOT A GUITAR RIFF!!!!!
