Cut your hair every week? Seriously? How freakin long does how grow in a week, really? A micron? Hair only grows 4 inches in a year. Why men think they need a stupid haircut on a monthly basis never ceases to amaze me. They is something called "styling product," check it out.
They say there is nothing like a sharp dressed man. Even if the thing doesn't do a perfect job one's hair always looks so much better when it is trimmed up nice, regardless whether it is long or short. I had a Flowbee and it finally crapped out after getting dropped a few times, but it always did a pretty good job. I want a new one and I think I will try this one. Cheers and thanks for the demo.
I got my Robocut 8 years ago and never looked back. It sucks, in a good way! No, I would never admit to using it. Yes, I've saved a bundle on haircuts for me and my little ones. The cut usually turns out better, I can do it more often, and it is MUCH faster (maybe <5 minutes) than having someone else cut it (which is great for little ones who can't sit still for long). I can usually get the same cut every time. Just make sure you keep it oiled. I usually keep mine attached to a small vacuum.
Thanks for your video. You gave me the courage to order this thing. Within an hour of it being delivered, I cut my hair, my husband's hair and my daughter's hair. All look as good as what we were paying for, and I'm sure I'll get better with practice. Meanwhile, one more haircut and the thing is paid for. All others beyond that will be free.
Why can't they make one without the vacuum cleaner? Like a hairdryer, but one that sucks not blows. It isn't rocket science. Attaching a vacuum cleaner sucks. That's what stops me from buying this.
So is it hard to get the sides layered like that cause I wouldn't really care about my hair cause I like it long layered but for my son, I would like a longer hair cut with the sides tapered like yours...I heard you mention three or so different lengths.
I have used a robocut on myself and my two boys for OVER TEN YEARS NOW!!!!! It has no problems and has saved us over a Thousand dollars so far. It never wears out because I oil it every time I use it.
Scooby: I cut my hair in separated damp sections, this helps deleniate the different zones, but i still recommend using a plastic band or a hairband just to make sure..Any add. tips & comments welcomed...Tanxx
I've had one for eight years and still love it! Just ordered a new one for $39 at the Robocut web site and am wondering if my old attachments will still work?
I'm a woman and you can imagine how much money I've saved over the past eight years - I have girlfriends who spend $50 to $100 every time they walk into a salon.
I purchased one of these about 1 or 2 months ago and I have never cut my own hair before I got it and I like how it works and it does a damn good job,I use to have shoulder length hair, Well a little past my shoulders but thats not the point... It just does a damn good job
Dang! Wish I thought of doing a Robocut video!!!! I've owned one for a few years and absolutely love it. I suppose I've saved roughly $500 since that time. Best 40 bucks spent ever!!!!!!!!
BEWARE!...the Robocut is addicting!!! I've been using one for about 13 years and it's awesome. In fact, I use it to trim ALL body hair. If I had longer hair, I'd be a little more dubious to use it, but Skooby(?) seems to have done just fine. Lastly, the owner of the company is extremely nice and he'll treat you right. Ooops..forgot...it's a good idea to use earplugs when cutting your hair. The suction can get pretty annoying when cutting near ears. ++++ youtube video!!! Kudos
Skooby: My other comments are posted on your other video! Plastic extensions should be longer, 4'', 6'' pieces, That dvd should have featured more complete, extensive examples for more intricate haircuts, but the blatant lack of guided demarcations between zones descending lengths & layers can be major problem & undermines the very clean cut effecient precision it promises & could deliver!! Otherwise a suberb concept & great machine! Just wish it offered more tips & solutions to real problems!
Skooby: i have used Robocut off /on for 4 years. While i love the way it feathers & shapes my long Shag, i have one huge complaint, it does not come with "cut zone guards/guides" these are essential in cutting a perfect hairstyle!! Precision is key. If it came with plastic strips or bands that could circle or wrap your head & seperate,& clearly delineate the various cutting zones, otherwise i risk "overlap" from zone & zone with their differing lenghts! A real problem for longer Hairstyles!
do you follow the zones in the instruction booklet? or in the DVD where the guy strokes the cutter like a brush on the sides and downwards at the back.
how do you move the cutter in back...do you stroke the cutter downward or sideways toward the center.
I do back and forth right to left and then side to side in the same area. In the back I do the different areas and then use the shortest setting and run bottom up to blend it in. I eyeball the zones and make them according to how I like them.
I have been robocuting my own hair since 1991. Before my wedding I went to a hairstylist and paid big bucks for an average looking cutt. Afer my wedding I saw an ad for the Robocut and ordered one. Since then I've been to a barber about 3 times. I'm probably on my 3rd machine and I keep the unit in a small briefcase with the 3 in one oil I use to lube the blades. I take out my briefcase and an old Electrolux torpedo style vacuum cleaner I use only for my haircuts. (continue on next post)
I just got a robocut today and before i get started I really like to say you did a great job on your hair. Can you tell us what settings in inches for each zone that you used to get your haircut? Did you use 1/2 inch in zone 4, lowest to neck? Really good job to you on your video, thanks for posting this...
I start with 1.75 inches on top. Then I go to one inch then one half. And finally I put the buzz attachment on and set it at 1/4 to clean up around the edges. I plan on doing a followup vid on touching up the neck line. I'll probably have it up within a week.
Thank you, that is great to know. Sorry, forgot to ask this previously,do you use the "15-taper" or "10-taper" tapering adapter for zone 2 (1 inch) and zone 3 (1/2 inch? Also it looks like for zone 4 you cleaned up the edges of your sideburns all the way down and around the neck line at 1/4 inch?Is this correct.Just so pleased at how your hair came out!I'll try it tomorrow to see how it does for me, with your help I feel more confidant now to give it a try as others here probably would agree :-)
I have used the taper. I used the shallow angle piece. I have tried cutting without those and it seems to look a little better. That will depend on your hair type. I recommend trying it both ways. Because it is convenient, I find that I cut my hair every 2 or 3 weeks. So if you don't like something you do you can change it in a few weeks.
My Robocut arrived today and after much fear..lol!!..I removed about 1 inch of hair all around my head. The results are amazing!! I will probably never go to a professional again!! It is a great device!!

I got one, but it's starting to pinch/ pull the hair a little. I've cleaned it, but it doesn't help. Have you had this happen?

@muppetspuppets I haven't had any problems like that. You may need to buy a new blade.

@aburame999 It just takes some practice. I set it on the shortest setting and roll the machine up from the bottom and out to get the taper I like.

Have you ever tried cutting wet hair so that you could comb the finished sections out of the way?
theoriginalSkooby 3 years ago
I suggested cutting wet hair to the inventor & he warned that machine is an electrical appliance. He suggested "damp/moist''hair
