to say anything can be meditation is nearly worthless. convenient perhaps, but not very transformative. true meditation is not concerned with being free of thoughts, but with seeing clearly: the cultivation of insight. wisdom for its own sake, and not a mere self-improvement exercise.
I've seen you twist many spiritual practices and beliefs for your own benefit, and this one is so clear. While you quote Buddha, Alan Watts, Lao Tzu, Genpo Roshi... you have no understanding or true respect for their teachings. You obviously only use soundbites of their hard work to justify your mood at the moment. This video should lose you many of your intelligent followers.
This isn't clarification of meditation - it's foolish make believe about what you want meditation to be. Meditation isn't about turning off your mind, it's about noticing what your mind is doing and compassionately letting go. It's not about concentration or the control of attention or focus. It's all about release.
A "misnomer", by the way, is calling something by the wrong name. Your use of the word "meditation" for what you describe is an ABSOLUTE misnomer.
The man is changed,,, this is not the same old James. Look, he seems sooo tired... Maybe it's just a clone. And what aboiut all those ancient alien gods behind him?! who's his playing for?
So, I take it that you feed your spirit , James, by killing your customers. You're such an example to follow as a spiritual teacher--just as long as the followers don't mind being cooked to death in a sweat-tent. You say that you get what you focus on--what were you focusing on to bring about this outcome?
@totallydisillusioned Something isn't right I agree, starting to veer away from his teachings after the most recent happenings in his sweat lodge. He sets a poor example as a spiritual teacher, and one who still charges for his services claiming to be a teacher, yet he's has enough money to not? I'm not buying any of it, physically or emotionally. A fake? Maybe. I'd love to hear his feedback on the matter....doubt that happening..if he's so set in his life he should be sure with himself, irony.
