  • Very nice aquarium,,,,Top!!!!

  • 0:22 is that a nerite snail I see? Are they okay in planted tanks? The don't eat the plants or anything?

  • Bravoooooooooooooo!

  • woah, thats awsome, im a beinner only 13, i currently have a 10 gallon tank and want to plant it like this.

  • @ILikeToFish01 i remember those days. Im now 18 and i built my own pressurized co2 setup. my plants are lookin great.

  • Future Takashi Amano? LOVE IT!

  • how long to it take for the plants to grow and thrive in the tank from 1:18-1:40?

    i just love it

    great work!

  • how u keep ur plants alive

  • cool! I love the one at 0:45!

  • Wonderful vid!

  • sick compilation and tunes aquaponics is the shit

  • your simply amazing!

  • what should i use for my 29 gallon planted tank. i just started planting it.

  • you really can scape peaceful pieces of fine underwater-art ! I like the way you use the space given and the plants you use. A bit of Amano never hurts any scape.

  • what is that plant at 1:49? please let me know thx!

  • @peachey2021 i think its wisteria... i new so im guessing

  • @peachey2021 looks like Riccia fluitans alot of people dont like this due to high maintenance. its norm has lots of pearling if u have a proper setup.

  • I Am making my first planted tank, what kind of plants do you use for back ground?I really like the one on the left side with some white on it at 1:31

  • from what i hear from many people ik personally they say they have tanks with and without Co2 and dont see a difference.

  • If you can't see the difference that CO2 makes then some other nutrient is limiting the growth. In most cases the you try to get the fertilizer and light correct but not much happens because CO2 is limiting and you finally give in and by the not so cheap CO2 equipment and boom things explode and you are taking out 3 pounds of underwater salad every week. Next is that you get tired of all the salad cutting and reduce light to get as less growth as you can stand.

  • then they r using co2 wrong . to see for yourself try co2. i kno its expensive so look into dyi co2. bout 15 buck to make!!

  • it depends alot on the plants java moss for instance doesnt need alot of light or co2 to grow well neither does anubis. but if toss a banana plant or some hornwort under a light with low co2 be ready to clean up alot of dead leaves

  • hey hat plant was that

the one that was a red plant like flower

  • Great job!

  • good work! what the substrate?

  • just amazing man^^ good job

  • Wow youre good bro

  • what all did you do to allow your plants to thrive so well?

  • C02, good substrate, water quality and good lights usually do the trick

  • will not having co2 ( well the fish to produce co2) be a big deal?

  • umh .... i have a 30gallon fish tank and .. how could i get my plants grow faster? help please if some one knows ..

  • u would need a co2 setup and good lighting.

  • nice tank.. you're plants also grow verry good ;)

  • Great Tank!! Keep Up The Good Work!!!

  • Yep, they are so awesome i am sick with jealousy lol. 5 stars

  • WOW your tanks are disgusting! Mega props to you for creating such beautiful spaces. I am so jealous, even if i had enough money to attempt these somehow i would funk it up lol. TY for sharing.

  • Wait, you said the tanks are disgusting? But you were giving this guy a compliment?

  • LMAO- maybe he was using it as slang. Like, DAYUM, that tank is SICK dude.

  • I never heard some one say that its DISGUSTING! as a compliment

  • Neither have I. LOL it made me laugh though

  • me neither, strange

  • lol

  • i wonder what he would say if it was somthing he didnt like - he'd probably say that's wonderful

  • 1:03 is so lush and green! i love it!

what song is this? love it too! lol

  • MOBY - GO

  • do you put co2 in your tank to help the plants grow?

    thanks

    5 star

  • i love the one at 0:22 , very peaceful.

  • does these plants need CO2 to live? if so where are the CO2 come from?

  • air pumps

  • I wish i had your talent the aquarium at 1:41 was so amazing!! also can someone tell me what the fish at 1:44 is??

  • probably a cherry barb?

  • or a ruby red pencilfish

  • you are my hero!

  • you are a genius

  • i loved the first and last tanks best but they're all really good

    ;D

  • Awesome job. Are your filters the same for all? and do you use and CO2 systems?

  • Whats teh plant atr 0:20

  • what's the name of the song?

  • Its a moby song song. look up Moby Go

  • 0:20...im in love! Amazing Aquarium!

  • nice the first tank was the same as mine but i have oscers in it now a planted one

  • man that is so cool

  • this is so chill

  • how do you clean the entire tank with that perfect design? or did you already have the self cleaning tank equipment?

  • Beautiful tanks like this require more grooming than cleaning. Mostly you need only frequent trimming, a weekly 10% water change and removing any dead material.

  • right, thanks mate! that realy helps!

  • No problem. Of course, monitoring water health and knowing how to react is crucial. Read up and you can do this too! GL!

  • LMAO :D

  • damn your tanks are like as good and look like takashi amano's tanks, their beautiful!

  • PLEASE tell me how you do it!?!??! just get a bunch of plants, the right lighting and plant them?!

    im sooo jealous!

  • you need to have a feeding layer underneath your gravel for the plant's and you can add stuff to the water ;) , o yeah Co2 they love it

  • Beautiful tanks! I would like some live plants someday but I don't understand how you can keep the tanks clean without vacuming them?

  • plants eat poop. No need to vacuum substrate.

  • So.... you are saying plants physically absorb fish shit?

No. They they use the nitrate that is the end product of the biological filtering cycle. Also, some believe they actually use some ammonia as nutrients too. In a more tan lightly stocked tank, you gonna get a build of of crap. clean it.

  • I know how the nitrogen cycle works professor. If you have enough plant biomass, nutrient and light to process the free ammonia and nitrite, there is no reason to disturb the substrate. The lesson here is: don't overstock. Look at any of these planted tanks: they are all relatively lightly stocked.

  • I just corrected your post "plants eat poop..." A novice is going to read that & end up with shit everywhere, helping to cause an algae bloom. You don't need to touch the substrate. Just wave your hand over it while siphoning during a water change. That will get rid of crap. Even in a lightly stocked tank, you'll get a build up eventually, especially in a carpeted foreground. You can enjoy more fish if you want, for 5 minutes extra work. There's the lesson for you... student.

  • very very impressive, i love that sea of green, im gonna try and create the same thing but with dwarf hairgrass which i'll keep trimmed so it'll look like an actual lawn

  • what kind of substrate do u use to grow such lush grassy bottoms?

  • hey i have a quick question on my driftwood i would like to attach a moss that can grow on the tip of it to make it look unique ! can u tell me if this is possible and what kind(s) of moss can be used like so and everything you would consider would be great> thanks

  • Hi, yeah of course you can attach moss to your wood. Try Java, Christmas, Flame, Fissidens .... they all look good. Simply tie with fishing line.

  • thanks ill will try it in the future and love the pics in the video check out my video on the main page of superfish99 thanks for the reply

  • hey agian i got the java moss and tied it to the driftwood and it looks awesome thanks for your help!!!!

  • can you tell me what the tall red plants are and the red flat plants are please they are so pretty

  • this is art. let's bin all the gargoyles and sunken ship crap.

  • pardon my ingnorance, and try no to make fun of me,but i have to ask, for planted tanks you need co2 right? isnt that what everybody is tring to get rid of,you know for the planet? any answer will be apreciated. thank u

  • but in this case, if measured right, the plants consume the carbon in co2 and turn it into oxygen.

  • u dont absolutely need co2... ur plants can live by the airated water and the co2 produced by ur fish as long as ur tanks healthy.

  • Your right Co2 is not essential! depends which types of plants you want to grow and how much light you give your tank. The higher the light level the greater the demmand for Co2. Beware Airating your tank with an airpump will drive out Co2 through gas exchange !! In a heavily planted well lit tank any available Co2 will soon be used up and therefore will require supplementing. You might try a Lowlight/low tech planted tank with Ferns, Moss's and Crypts with no Co2.

    Enjoy

  • what do you use as substrate???

  • i really like the idea of the grass at the beginning.

  • Pls give me some tips on how to put plants in my aquarium. I have a huge aquarium and i already have fishes in it. Need your expert advice

  • you may find it easier to plant the aquarium with the water level lowered (during Water change) tweezers or tongs can be used to plant stems directly into the substrate. moss and ferns can be tied to the expose bogwood branches using fishing line.

  • do you have to have a co2 system and fertilizer or a specific soil in order to have plants in your tank. (and i would not be adding as many plants as you would and neither would I plant high maintenance plants)

  • i'll send you the link.lol

  • I have google maps with shows me images and videos of where i am watching(images from panoramio and videos of youtube). If you look on morden hall road, there is morden hall park, where there is a little image of your video.Have a look!

  • do you live close to morden, london? You are on google maps! lol

  • Have you written any articles or guidlines to making such beautiful planted tanks? I am very much interested in making a tank as nice as you, although it would be extremely hard :)

  • 0:57 that one is sooo nice.....

  • What are the names of those really mossey and grassy looking species?

  • fuccck dat shit is nice

  • stunning! what sort of moss did u use in the last tank? was it java?

  • amazing tanks.

what is that little red cyprinid at 1:45? it looks like a Barbus titteya, but a bit different. thanks.

  • hihetetlenül szép. well done!

  • I want to keep my plants healthy but I don't want to do anything speacial. I own a variety of plants including swordplants and hornwort. would a standard flourescent tube be enough to support these?

  • go to "projo's aquarium"

  • do you need special lights to maintain them???

  • different plants have different light requirements. It is possible to maintain a low light planted tank if you choose your plants carefully. generally plant growth is accelerated under high light (Multiple T5 flourescent tubes or metal halide) though you must ensure adequete Co2 is provided with high light levels.

  • What is the plant that looks something like grass at 21 seconds?

  • Eleocharis (Hair grass)

  • Wow that's awesome. So you don't even have to clean the tank?

  • regular partial water changes are essential in a high tech planted aquarium. To ensure nutrients are always available dose heavy with liquid feritlisers and 'reset' weekly with large water change.

  • NICE! :D

  • yo kristof how do you keep this clean, get it all out and clean or..., ill like to change everything?you cant get it al out right, and if you have sand on the bottom how do you clean that?i like to start a bigger tank and right now i just clean the whole tank, put the fish somewere else and emptying it, refresh half of the water, its with stones ,please let me know thanks Peter

  • All those plants use lots of organic matter as fertiliser. There is never any need in a planted tank to gravel clean! generaly stocking levels are low, just a few shoaling tetras or rasboras and a clean up crew which means minimal waste. Let your plants do all the work! just as in nature they are removing organics and toxins from the water. Healthy plants = healthy fish !

  • Wow, you need to come over and plant my tanks for me! lol. I totally suck at aquascaping. I just have no imagination for it :P heh

  • Stick with it shollia, often rocks and bogwood can look a little 'placed' if you insist on messing too much. try to avoid symetrical designs. If your looking for ideas read Takashi amanos nature aquarium books and pay particular attention the 'golden ratio', try googling golden ratio. It is often applied in great masters works of art like Leonardo Davinci. Look into it! P.S I do have a life (promise) :-)

  • Heey, Cool..

  • Wow very nice i hate the fact that likenone of the local aquarium stores carry like no exotic plants

  • Thanks for all the positive feedback, much appreciated. I have another plant tank video, click on my user name and search my vids! CHEERS

  • dude ur nano tank(s) are aswome

  • WOOT! You rock! That was beautiful! FIVE OUTTA FIVE! All aspects of this vid are well done and each tank pic was -BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL-

  • Thanks!! glad you enjoyed! I have another plant tank video - check it out let me know what you think!

    regards

    Kristof71

  • IMPRESSIVE!!!! You have a talent for aquascaping. Thanks for sharing!

  • wow- I really like that :D. I especially like the one near the middle with the rocks over grown with algae and all lowgrower plants- very Takashi Amano styled. Nice work :)

  • you have a great aesthetic sense for plant placement! very nice tanks.

  • wow..so beautiful! in the "journey through time" video, how much time passed from beginning to end?

  • Hi Kseko, Not sure on the time span but not as long as you would think! prob 10 - 12 weeks!!

  • woow wkid tank im sorta new n need some real plants now but not too big as ive only gt a 18 gallon tank and wonderd what the almost moss like plant was called that grows on the floor and is not to big. thanks

  • Hey Alex thanks for watching! I think the plant you ask about is hemianthus calitrichoides! where in UK are you ? I can perhaps tell you of a good outlet for your plants!

  • im in essex ye im on about the small patches of mossy kind of grass that are on the right hand side of the tank lol cheerz

  • 01:20 is nice

  • Congratulations. Superb tank and great video too. Out of curiosity, what is the red large leaf foreground plant on the right hand side?

  • Thats a tiger lotus

  • Red tiger lotus lilly

  • i recently set up a new tank. When i was browsing for a good model, i saw some of the open-top aquariums similar to the ones at the start of the video. Have you ever had any fish jump out? That was a point that put me off the open-top style.

  • I did loose a SAE once so be careful. I think its importrant to ensure the co2 level doesnt get too high at night driving out the oxygen, im convinced this causes fish to jump!

  • Great tank , keep the good work!!

  • kristof71, great video and tank! I love how you showed the progression of your tank as it evolved! I was just messing around on youtube and had never heard of a planted tank before.. I have a normal 55 gallon tank with about 20 fish or so in it... is it expensive to start a plant tank and can you only have certain types of fish in a plant tank?

  • Thanks for the comment stevo. Your going to need to upgrade your lighting on a standard lit aquarium. T5 tubes are very good and cheaper than metal halide. A good substrate is essential and a Co2 system is neccesary. Co2 can be done on the cheap with a DIY system (google)! avoid herbivorous fishes, Barbs, Gouramis, Livebearers. Try Tetras Or Discus in a tank of your size! Good luck!

  • Thanks man... by the way... nice job on the carp fishing... I bowfish for them back here because they have overpopulated... fun as hell to catch tho too!!!!

  • I am planning to get a single 65 watt for my 20 gallon. Do I need Co2 suppliments if I have a canister filter and external filters going. (Cannister is hooked to pump, so it provides some Co2)

  • You will need Co2 yes! Im afraid Your filtration will do nothing to increase your Co2 level. In fact any extra surface agitation will drive out Co2! You can get quite good results with cheap yeast based Co2 kits! try it

  • Okay. How is your opinion on Florexcel? Its Carbon suppliment as long as ferts.

  • Hi, Afraid ive never used flouro excel (Seachem Right?) But I have heard of people having good results with it. I think its used ocassionaly to treat algae outbreak by simply raising the Co2 level.

  • aight dude! yep!..3 x 14W -T5's! okei ..im stil planning to have C02.. thnx!! ^0^

  • dude... i have 3 T5 14W light in my 15gal tank... is it ok for plant to grow better in my tank? thnx! ^^

  • 3 x 14W right? you will need to add CO2 with this level of light. maintain Co2 at 25 and add liquid ferts regular. Watch em grow!!!!

  • thanks kristof71.

  • kristof71 may i ask are you using the standard lighting in that 120 x 50 rena tank? or is it converted to t5?

  • Hey Razorphade, thanks for watching the video. The 120 x 150 Rena has been upgraded with 4 x 54 watt T5's as you probobly suspected.

  • What is the plant around 0:20? Not the hairgrass, the moss like looking thing. I am going to plant my existing tank.

  • Hi trio628, Thanks for watching my video.

The plant is Hemianthus callitrichoides (HC). It carpets very quickly under bright light with high Co2 levels.

  • Those tanks are awesome!!! Truely excellent!!

  • I just love it :D

  • What's the name of the little grass looking plant?

  • Think you mean the Hair grass ( Eleocharis )

  • thanks for your video , pure insperation

  • Holy Shit. I just about creamed my pants lookin at that. Awesome setup. Just Fuckin Amazing!

  • GREAT!!

  • holy shit man...

  • Incredible tanks!

hope to see you in AGA 2007 contest.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NOT BAD LAD KEEP TRYING

  • Me - stalking you!? Don't flatter yourself!! lol

I just typed in "aquascape" in the search on here and your video jumped out... All credit to you.

The entry form in the magazine. You can enter as many aquascapes as you like.

  • Very impressive. I hope you're entering some of these into the PFK Aquascaping contest. Please do!

    Best wishes,
