  • Oh my freekin TODD!! So mind blowing even after all these years!

  • WOW!! That was kick-azz! They are so cute.

  • Utopia was the ultimate band...

  • did caravan ever support campervanbatehoven??

  • Just love this.

  • I've watched this video at least a dozen times and even though it's outta sync, the music is effing great. Albeit the audio and video don't jibe, is there ANYONE out there that can fix this? GibsonL65 can you hear my plea?

  • @garfonce1 All you have too doo is close your eyes

  • get a tripod already

  • Road to Utopia was A concept album. One of the last few towards the end of 70's. Top musicians came thruogh to put together one of the best and under-rated albums of all time.

  • "I THINK IM GONNA CRY....

  • Todd is such a MASTER & GENIUS.Overlooked Ignored, and Misunderstood.

Todd Rundgren needs our support RIGHT NOW More Than Ever! Not finacially secure after all he has accomplished in the Music World and Computer World. Please support shows buy merchandise & spread the word.

    ROCK LOVE,

    CHERRY XOXO

I am on Twitter too supporting TODD using same Username Just Loving Fan

  • @chelababy1 no

  • Does anyone know where to buy the Disco Jets album?

  • Running to an imaginary creature isn't really "dealing" with pain and loss. I'd say it's more like avoiding it. There's nothing admirable about believing the stars to be distant campfires because you're too lazy to find out what they really are.

  • Great song.

i wish someone would post the studio recording?

    :-)

  • Rundgren, of course, is God.

  • Gotta tell ya. He's not God. He just listens to God.

  • I'm with you.

  • It's funny. Very personal, but it may help somebody else. I am trying to reconcile with someone from 20 years ago. So many of Todd's songs speak to just that. He says the things I wish I could. I wish I knew where his pain comes from. He sure figured out how to channel it to help the rest of us find our way.

He's not God. he's a man who's experienced true love and pain, and learned from it. He's an evangelist, he's my brother. God bless You, Todd. I wish you peace.

  • Of course you're right - there's only one God. It was a figure of speech, one I wouldn't have used if I'd noticed the many Todd is God comments already posted.

And you're also right regarding his emtional depth. Going back to Nazz (If That's the Way You Feel, the original Hello It's Me) he's shown great nicety, kindness and humor in the face of loss - like a pop Leonard Cohen.

Here's hoping you find your own peace.

  • Amen!!! But I still named one of my boys after him

  • Rick Derringer follows God.

  • I don't know...there's a little of Pizza and Pipes about Powell's playing I don't really appreciate. Mancuzek was the greatest of keyboardists in my opinion. Also, I once happened to see Powell in person once after he got through screaming at his daughter and her boyfriend for their lifestyle...he was one of the biggest fat d***s I've ever met. Funny what happens to people...

  • What was the crew? Willie Wilcox, Kasim Sultan, and..... Oh s*@t, can I really have forgotten??Somewhere I have a sweatshirt with the bands names on it in storage I guess, wow I forgot their names Someone help me please!!!

    What were they???

  • Willie Wilcox,Kasim Sultan,Rodger Powell and Todd

  • I've only started listening to this band..similar to Steely Dan, mix jazz/fusion..Good stuff..

  • you need more TR

  • Roger Powell is so under rated he is one of the greatest rock keyboard players ever in my opinion.

  • true to that

  • @GibsonL65 true to what????

  • Keith Emerson

    Rick Wakeman

    Roger Powell

    always

  • This is hot! I love it!

  • when todd starts singing it compliments the song but the other dude has a top 40 voice.

  • I think the reason Roger sings this, is the old tradition of letting the guy who wrote the song sing the song. I agree, Todd should have sung it. Roger can sing OK, but his voice doesn't suit this song. It needs Todd's edge.

  • Roger did good vocals on this, Kas also had a voice. Todd could pick a band for sure.

  • Todd is my savior.

  • Todd is very good lots of fun

  • Utopia had some god live shows; I remember one that was opened with Rundgren sumbersaulting from a pyramid

  • Ra Tour.

  • Yeah! that was the Ra tour, I saw that tour at the Fox theater in Atlanta Georgia, It was one of the best concert's that I have ever been to.

  • @lfwpro

I saw the RA tour also, in Milwaukee, and was completely blown away. Great performance, great costumes and set and great concept album. I still have the photos I took laying around somewhere. We were screaming on acid that night and they played right into us.

I especially liked Todd's and Kasim's reversible guitars and the fact they jumped around and played each other's instruments...it showed great verstality at the time.

  • Why wasn't Todd singing this?

  • Todd is Godd!

  • what's the title of this song?

  • caravan

  • @UN72 Utopia

  • What video release is this from ? It's not the 1983 video. The sound quality and performance are fantastic.

  • its the 1982 live in boston

  • I love him! I think he's a musical genius.I also listened to him in the 70's, mostly what was promoted as his mainstream hits. It's been fun rediscovering him and learning more about him. I love the old videos and have him on in the van. Of course his body of work is so vast, don't have time to get through it all, but he's definitely left a great legacy of musical creativity. Because of his technical savy, he's not only surviving, looks like he's flourishing.

  • Life goes by to fast

  • The small 4 man Utopia was OK, but the LARGE 7 man incarnation was the best. If Todd reformed the band he should do the large version. Todd's songs were the best on the New Cars tour. He did Black Maria, Open my Eyes, Saw the Light, and Bang on the Drum (all day).

  • He didnt need to join The new cars...he couldve reunited the band again and play once more...

  • You may be right, however, I am a new fan and what made me take notice was The New Cars.

When I see the new stuff and then check out the older stuff, I am stunned by the versatility. Yes, Todd and Utopia are all that but The New Cars are not a band that I see as useless. I mean, wow!

    Just my 2 cents.

  • that was a great year for seeing utopia in philly!that zoo concert was so perfect. i was right up front and in total utopia so to speak.another highlight was new years eve at the tower theatre.wish they could do it again.

  • I was very young. I brought my kids. This was one of the best times we had!

  • One of my favorite Utopia songs, loving Roger! I also was at the show at the Philly zoo. Awesome! Utopia forever!

  • I'm a serious Toddaholic and the first concert I went to was at the Phila zoo when I was 15 (80s)- first song I heard was THIS !! All the people there were true UTOPIANS and I will never forget it. Truly.

  • Freakin' awesome!!

  • HELP TODD RUNDGREN PAINTING

Long shot here: in the late 70's early 80's my sister painted a picture of Todd rundgren holding his SG guitar with a wizard true star background. It was lost in a apartment move.

If anyone in the Ohio area knows or has seen this please e-mail me, it means alot too me.

    And Yes Todd is God

  • Todd is Godd!

  • Amen brudda

  • I agree pafarmboy11 ....saw many shows

  • wow i really miss those days ...everything was good back then

  • i've been looking for this video/song in my head for unspeakable time. time is jyust joke,

  • This has always been one of my favorite songs of all time. I sing it all the time. I found it on Yahoo Music of all places and got it on my computer permanently now. Without a doubt today's music lacks the certain something that this and the music of this generation had (has).

  • One of my fave Utopia songs; a great version too. One thing: shooting off this TV, a tripod might've been nice. Or put the camera on a table or something. I wanted to see the guys, but frustratingly shaky. Oh well. Thank you anyhow.

  • Thanks GibsonL65. Caught the O'keefe show in Toronto, same era, this opened the second set. Interesting stage in Todd's career, I wonder what's happened to these thoughts. For a guy who believed in the wheel...

    way down inside him

  • I don't recall Todd ever playing a Tele, but obviously he did.

  • I don't recall ever seeing Todd play a Tele, but obviously he did.

  • I finally broke down and bought Adventures In Utopia on Itunes. I've been carrying POV around in my car for months (on cassette) and it finally died. The tape, not the car.

Yes, Caravan is awesome!! The guitar break is pure Todd, shredding.

  • To the poster...again Thanks! This is one of the greatest songs never heard...at least by the new generation, and frankly even mine (age 45) A guy in my college dorm used to crank this at bar-time every weekend. I knew it was great, filed it a way in my mind, and have been looking for it ever since.

  • Thank you so much, I missed this tour, so you'll never know how much I appreciated this!

  • Thank you. Maybe Todd will get these guys together again like he did with the Cars!!

  • What a great expectation. It would be a fabulous comeback. Todd's music has a permanent mandate.

  • thank you!!
