  • Damn,in those days people know how to hand build and work hard.Great place,Great building.

  • why the name is tiger nest?

  • @avishekmaitra26

I think, back in those days 1600,people build this as a save heaven, against Bengal Tigers,in those forests,I think that's why they call it tigers nest

  • @avishekmaitra26 The story is told that Monk Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) flew to this location from Tibet on the back of a tigress from Khenpajong. He meditated there for three months and then began to build the complex with fellow mongs who walked up to the location.

  • I think this is best place in Paro also best in whole Bhutan. A non treker like me went there in the last month..Amazed by the splendid natural beauty & the construction of the monastery adds a spa on it to make it the best place in Bhutan..Hope one day their will be a rope way for smooth journey.

  • you are so fortunate to have traveled to this amazing and peaceful place.

one query - in your exp., are the bhutanese people nicer than others - say westerners, indians, chinese, etc ?

it sure seems like they are calmer, less selfish etc - am i right?

  • @Nusrat5791

  • WOW!!!! is it expensive traveling to Bhutan?

  • @VotreCauchemar very expensive. you pay $200 per day to visit Bhutan, but that includes 3 meals per day, transport and lodging.

  • i heard you're not allowed to travel through the country without a guide

  • This monastry is awsome... n i am glade dat our country is not influence.. by western tradition... n nt a crup gove.. fresh as a lotus.. in this monastry our one of greatst guy Zhabdrung Rinpocha.. meditate till his date ...

  • I really want to visit Tiger Nest Monastary so badly. It looks incredibly beautiful. I heard that it is heavily guarded once you get to a certain point, is that true? Also, is there anyway a person could actually come in and meditate with the monks? What a religious expereince it must be to do that. I would have loved to have hiked that with you.

  • @Soulquarium There are no guards. I don't know about meditating there

  • @Soulquarium: there are no guards..however there is a notice board for the tourist not to enter inside..tourist respect that notice and doesn't go inside..

  • @zamlingnelam actually, you are allowed inside the monastery as a tourist, I have been inside myself. there are just a few certain rooms you aren't supposed to enter.

  • What an amazing view. It'd be so cool to go there.

  • Camera shaking... guy panting.... feels like the Blair Witch movie all over again lol

  • @tobs001 LOL

  • Absolutely stunning.

  • was is the connection to padmasambhava?

  • Flew there on the back of a Tigress in his manifestation as Dorje Drolo and subjugated a cave full of demons.

    (Temple built on top later)

If i remember my history/religious myths right.
