Esta es la verdad de la vida que conocemos hoy y es que en la naturaleza hay mucha mas violencia ..sois capaces de ver un documental de animales y ver como un leon mata lentamente a uno de estos y muere poco a poco y lo destripa vivo mientras el pobre animal puede sentir como se lo comen vivo y poco a poco pero no sois capaces de ver una corrida de toros porque no aceptais que la vida requiere en ocasiones de sacrificio al toro no se le mata se le sacrifica por los demas que se dedican a hacerlo

solo visita los videos de MONTA de toros (EU o MEX), eso es lucha de resistencia, el ganador es homenajeado, reconocido por todo el pueblo (y nacionalmente) y recomendado, estoy hablando del mismo toro (VIVO y con ganas de ir por mas) y/o el jinete. Es algo impresionante, como un sujeto (xq hay mujeres) le aguanta los reparos a este esplendido animal, y no se diga de los caballos broncos.

mi comentario fue debido a la repuesta de un chakal que argumentaba la muerte del toro era justificada, eso me disgusto. lo que argumentas tu pues no le veo la maldad de montarlo como se le hace a un caballo salvaje para domarlo en comparación a suerte de un toro para matarlo de una estocada (eso si fue bien dada) y varias veces herido con las banderillas y con un final de agonía muriendo ahogado con su propia sangre etc.

Interestingly enough, it is my understanding that the bull that receives a pardon ("indulto") is used as a breeder and passes on his size and strength and possibly his physical traits to his offspring. However, it is the cow that contributes the heart, the bravery and the determination of the offspring. It is the cows who are tested for "fighting quality", not the bulls. Curious.....

I know it DOES NOT happen by default when a bull isn't good enough - as far as sound breeding principles go, you'd kill only the worst bulls in the ring and save the bravest!
There is a large breed of cattle usully Steers, used in spain to keep things quiet and to lure the fighting bulls in diffrent pastures, it is not a fighting typ of cattle, a clam, docil breed .

On second viewing looks like they are Longhorn steers probably kept with the old fighting bull to keep things calm.

Ok, the thing here is that "stallion" bulls often fight to become the pack leaders, this happens between 2, 3, 4 or even 5 diferent animals, and the current leader has take on eveyone of the pretenders, in this case, this bull had a huge fight, he won, but the hits that he took were in the stomach, the acid there would have killed him anyways, that's the tenical stuff. I'm a rancher in the U S and understand about breeding, bulls , etc, and could see these were steers and deduced they were kept with a bull (a herd sire obviously) to keep him calm. I'm curious what the breed is - of the steers. Are they the same as the progenitors of the Texas Longhorns?

My most important question is about the herd sires of the fighting bulls. Have the herd sires been tested in the bullfighting ring? It would seem logical but most fighting bulls are killed. Is this what's happening when the crowd 'votes' to save a very brave bull?
Yes, a very brave bull, an extraordinary bull, is voted to be saved, not only by the crowd, but by the judge and the bullfighter himself, these bulls became studs inmediatly, you can find some videos here of some indulted (saved) bulls in the field being followed by their sons, however, every bull is tested when turning 2 years old, so they can be choosed for a purpose, but they can only be fighted "professionaly" when turning 4 and having a minimun weight of 450 kilos.
So the young bulls which show promise when tested are used as herd sires until they reach four years but then sometimes killed in the ring. The very bravest which show all the desirable characteristics are sometimes saved and will spend a long life as breeding bulls.
I was very curious about that because from all I knew and what I could see, it appeared they were killing off all of their very best breeding stock.
Ok! so, you're right, that bull was old for bullfighting, he was selected as a stud because he was "tested" in the ring while being really young, there he probably shown a lot of ferocity, but low elegancy, so he was discarted and turn into a stud. The longhorns are companions that keep the bulls calmed, as they are extremely territorial animals, and also, let's remember that an exited bull can drown with his own blood, so they need to be relaxed. @jcrespo1984 permiteme que te diga pero este toro si se ha usado en una plaza y por su bravura a sido indultado y como consecuencia semental que es lo mejor que le puede pasar a un torero, porque el orgullo más grande de un torero es indultar a un toro. Esta es la verdad de la vida que conocemos hoy y es que en la naturaleza hay mucha mas violencia ..sois capaces de ver un documental de animales y ver como un leon mata lentamente a uno de estos y muere poco a poco y lo destripa vivo mientras el pobre animal puede sentir como se lo comen vivo y poco a poco pero no sois capaces de ver una corrida de toros porque no aceptais que la vida requiere en ocasiones de sacrificio al toro no se le mata se le sacrifica por los demas que se dedican a hacerlo

Pienso que la lucha no debe de ser a muerte, no es necesario.
solo visita los videos de MONTA de toros (EU o MEX), eso es lucha de resistencia, el ganador es homenajeado, reconocido por todo el pueblo (y nacionalmente) y recomendado, estoy hablando del mismo toro (VIVO y con ganas de ir por mas) y/o el jinete. Es algo impresionante, como un sujeto (xq hay mujeres) le aguanta los reparos a este esplendido animal, y no se diga de los caballos broncos.

he de decir que soy taurino de afición y lo que argumentas de que la lucha no debe ser a muerte, existe el indulto, por otro lado por si no sabias los toros de monta son encastes de reses de lidia que por no ser bravos terminan siendo montados y por ultimo considero que el maltrato que sufren los toros de monta es "n" número mayor de veces por que los llevan de gira por la república haciendo que el animal se estrese y pierda pesa entre otros tantos factores. mi comentario fue debido a la repuesta de un chakal que argumentaba la muerte del toro era justificada, eso me disgusto. lo que argumentas tu pues no le veo la maldad de montarlo como se le hace a un caballo salvaje para domarlo en comparación a suerte de un toro para matarlo de una estocada (eso si fue bien dada) y varias veces herido con las banderillas y con un final de agonía muriendo ahogado con su propia sangre etc.

he de decir que soy taurino de afición y lo que argumentas de que la lucha no debe ser a muerte, existe el indulto, por otro lado por si no sabias los toros de monta son encastes de reses de lidia que por no ser bravos terminan siendo montados y por ultimo considero que el maltrato que sufren los toros de monta es "n" número mayor de veces por que los llevan de gira por la república haciendo que el animal se estrese y pierda pesa entre otros tantos factores. Interestingly enough, it is my understanding that the bull that receives a pardon ("indulto") is used as a breeder and passes on his size and strength and possibly his physical traits to his offspring. However, it is the cow that contributes the heart, the bravery and the determination of the offspring. It is the cows who are tested for "fighting quality", not the bulls. Curious.....

You get 'the best' by breeding the best to the best!
You'll NEVER get elegant bulls by using breeding stock which weren't 'elegant enough'!

So in a nutshell, mt question is what happens in the ring or in the selection process - by what process - does a really great fighting bull avoid death in the ring and live to become a great sire?
I know it DOES NOT happen by default when a bull isn't good enough - as far as sound breeding principles go, you'd kill only the worst bulls in the ring and save the bravest!

There is a large breed of cattle usully Steers, used in spain to keep things quiet and to lure the fighting bulls in diffrent pastures, it is not a fighting typ of cattle, a clam, docil breed .

I wrote 'bulls' by mistake. They're obviously steers and obviously serve that 'calming' and 'leading' purpose.
I was speculating whether they are the same cattle as Texas Lohghorns - which came to the Americas from Spain.
I''d have to conclude that they are!
Longhorn steers have longer, more curled horns than the (Longhorn) bulls do.

Wish my Spanish were good enough to understand the technical stuff! I suspect this bull is a bit beyond his prime for bullfighting and probably an older, herd sire - anyone know?
If so, was he 'tested' in the ring, then retired to the stud rather than killed? I suppose a herd sire has to be tested for bravado?
What are those taller bulls in with him, with what appear to be Longhorn characteristics? Related (genetically) or just companions?

On second viewing looks like they are Longhorn steers probably kept with the old fighting bull to keep things calm.
Now I'm curious whether they have always been bred in Spain (as opposed to having been re-imported from Texas or elsewhere in the Americas) and whether the breed has always been kept 'pure'?
They're pretty cattle.

Ok, the thing here is that "stallion" bulls often fight to become the pack leaders, this happens between 2, 3, 4 or even 5 diferent animals, and the current leader has take on eveyone of the pretenders, in this case, this bull had a huge fight, he won, but the hits that he took were in the stomach, the acid there would have killed him anyways, that's the tenical stuff. I'm a rancher in the U S and understand about breeding, bulls , etc, and could see these were steers and deduced they were kept with a bull (a herd sire obviously) to keep him calm. I'm curious what the breed is - of the steers. Are they the same as the progenitors of the Texas Longhorns?

My most important question is about the herd sires of the fighting bulls. Have the herd sires been tested in the bullfighting ring? It would seem logical but most fighting bulls are killed. Is this what's happening when the crowd 'votes' to save a very brave bull?
Are those, then used for herd sires?

Yes, a very brave bull, an extraordinary bull, is voted to be saved, not only by the crowd, but by the judge and the bullfighter himself, these bulls became studs inmediatly, you can find some videos here of some indulted (saved) bulls in the field being followed by their sons, however, every bull is tested when turning 2 years old, so they can be choosed for a purpose, but they can only be fighted "professionaly" when turning 4 and having a minimun weight of 450 kilos.

Ok, I understand.
So the young bulls which show promise when tested are used as herd sires until they reach four years but then sometimes killed in the ring. The very bravest which show all the desirable characteristics are sometimes saved and will spend a long life as breeding bulls.
I was very curious about that because from all I knew and what I could see, it appeared they were killing off all of their very best breeding stock.

Ok! so, you're right, that bull was old for bullfighting, he was selected as a stud because he was "tested" in the ring while being really young, there he probably shown a lot of ferocity, but low elegancy, so he was discarted and turn into a stud. The longhorns are companions that keep the bulls calmed, as they are extremely territorial animals, and also, let's remember that an exited bull can drown with his own blood, so they need to be relaxed. Hope my english was good enough!

creo q las cooridas de toros son una maldad mas de los humans hacia los animales ,no hay nminguna fundamentacion por mas tradicional q sea q fundamente el asesinato de un toro con previo sufrimiento ,soy argentino y m parece una cagada las corridas y yo lo q provaria seria d agarrar a los toreros y largarlos al campo con los toros sin nada haber q tan malo son.

lo primero es que si no hubiera corridas no hubera toros de lidia, lo segundo es que por muy maldad que sea es un animal contra un torero desarmado, y lo tercero es que si no t gustan a mi si, y hay personas que sufren mas que los toros y no se habla nada de ello
