hey rick,,, just wondering if you have ever did a review on a rws 460? in 22 caliber tax time is comming thought about a new air gun? I did buy the benjamin trail np in 25 caliber it seems pretty nice so far, ive shot some birds with it. im happy with it. TObe
one is heavier than the other...? Generally heavier pellets go slower, but can be more accurate. In the end you want to find the right pellet, i.e. most accurate pellet, for your gun.
Pyramyd Air may be able to upgrade your gun with a gas ram.. There are lots of people out there than can replace the spring for you. You'll just have to look around. As for the max range.. I'd keep all my shots inside 35 to 40 yards.
I'm using the GTX triggers now rather than the GRT triggers. IF you have the metal trigger then google "GTX Gen-II" and you'll go right to their page. If you have the plastic trigger you need to google "GRT IV". Hopefully you have the metal trigger.
well i think 30 sounds better to me,, im gonna be shooting alot of birds and squirrls more shots per fill up i like, ill prob end up with the a .25 one day. thanks for helping me out. TOby steve
hey rick i was just wondering sir,,, be honest how many good hard shots can you get with one fill up with the .25 caliber muarder? and how many with the .22? toby steve
so rick wonder if you could clue me in some on this 8000 dollar air gun on pyramid air.com .357 caliber 1000 fps? elctric air gun? jw if you knew anything about it. toby steve
Hey Rick! I have no idea what happened to the fiber optic front sight of my Gamo Hunter 440. Gamo hasn't responded to my inquiries as to how to get another one. Do you have any ideas?
Also, I'd like to unload a Tech Force 99 .22 cal. underlever for $50. It's practically new. It's just that I bought the Contender 89 to replace it since I prefer break-barrels. Know anyone?
Hey there.. regarding your gamo, did you call them or email them? I've had very little luck trying to email them. I call them to make sure that I get some results.
opps.. forgot the other question.. as for selling the TF99 in .22... I'm not sure where to point you. I've not tested the .22 version of the TF 99 only the .177 (wasn't impressed). How long have you had it? Give me a call or email directly. It may be something that we pick up for testing.
yeah man, i was thinking im gonna go out on a limb and say that the gamo hunter extreme the big joke of the year for 500 bucks, seems pretty bad? trigger no accurcy? Im looking forward to the benjmain murader a bolt action 22 cailber air gun seems like a good idea? well hit me back buddy. TOby steve
well I really want to try it, I like idea of not having any recoil or spring twang when it goes it, and 10 shot bolt action seems kind of nice too. and it seems very accurte I like rws 350 takes alot of time to get er to shoot but shure hits hard. I think ill order my murader soon. in .22 caliber. well I enjoy talking about the airgun sport and your response. TOby steve
the "best" pellet is the most accurate pellet for your rifle. In general, heavier pellets (to a point) are better as they tend to deliver more energy on target. They also tend to be more accurate. The Beeman Kodiak pellets are excellet if your rifle can shoot them well. The others are the H&N field target (trophy or special) pellets, and of course, JSB pellets are know for accuracy too.
i belive ya man, just i got all excited about the 60 foot pounds and i dont think you would lie to me, I guess the benjamin muarder it is I do like the idea of a 10 shot bolt action gun., i read online pcp guns tend to have a farther range than spring guns? any truth to that? and kind of sucks got spend 170 bucks on a pump to? thanks for your time and opions rick... cheers Toby steve
PCP guns are at the top of the food chain for airguns. They are easier to shoot, more accurate do to the lack of recoil, and generally more powerful. With all that comes some additional costs.. what else is new. You will love the marauder.. What caliber are you getting?
i thought them numbers were alittle high man,, pual caplo says its got close to 60 foot pounds,,, its right on pyramid airs website, that the tech guys testedt the gun and got 60 pounds of enrgey how can they lie? I dunno man id prob get the benjamin muarder in 22. I dunno man i got all excited thinking that gun hit that hard. ? plz help man
Maybe they "tweaked" it to get more velocity. I purposefully DON'T MODIFY REVIEW ITEMS for my reviews. I test them "as is" just like they came out of the box. That way folks get an honest opinion of what to expect.
ive been doing some looking on pyramid air man and need your help,, i didnt end up getting the benjamin murader yet,, i found something i think i like better the evanix ar6 hunter? its saying its like 64 foot pounds? the maruder olny 25 i think id spend the extra money for it, but how do you fill it? need some advice man plzzzz help?
I'm testing the AR6 now.. it does not get 64 foot pounds.. nowhere near it... Yes it hits hard.. it is also much louder than the Marauder. It is also not as accurate as the marauder.. I'll have a review out later this week hopefully. The AR6 is a nice rifle, don't get me wrong, but I'd take my .25 marauder over it any day.. way better accuracy and basically the same power.
it sounds like an awsome gun man so i guess its worth the money, i found it on midway usa for 400,,, its listed on pyramid air for 469 so its about 70 dollers less,, olny thing i dont like is paying 200 bucks for a pump. but i enjoy shooting air guns and a bolt action repeter sounds pretty nice. Toby steve
if it's a .177 cal air rifle could you use bb's instead of pellets and if u were to use bb's would they hav enough power/ velocity to be "dangerous" to myself
you are not supposed to use metal bbs in this gun.. they are too light and won't fit the bore properly. They will also ruin your barrel and your gun. Lead bbs are fine because they are made to the right specs and are heavy enough.
Cheers.
Rick
p.s. metal bbs are not really .177 they are slightly smaller
You may be able to engineer one to fit.. but I'm not sure that there is one specifically made for it. I'd ask the guys over at the GTA forum (gateway to airguns).
Smooth bore barrels will not be as accurate and will allow the pellet to tumble after a certain distance. That distance may be different for each pellet.
hey rick long time no talk, how things been in the air gun world? just wondering whats new and excting ? did the gamo hunter extreme 22 ever work out or was it shit to? i do like my 350 i work alot so not much time to shoot, but i know its a great gun, cheers TOby steve
Hello tell me something, in your testings of different pellets do you notice that pointed pellets go farther than the flat nosed ones like wadcutters? it would seem like simple aerodynamics. let me know what you think as well as others who may have tried this test. thanks
Domed pellets seem to do best at long ranges.. pointed pellets seem to be less accurate.. maybe it is because if the point is not perfect it causes the pellet to fly.. but that is just my guess.
I haven't tested the black hawk, but I have the Ruger Airhawk video shot and ready for production. I'm in the process of moving to Arizona and will have it up and going once I get my equipment setup.
hi the vid helped me alot but is the gamo pro magnum an acursy pellet? and which pellet do you think works best for the norica massimo and is it the pellet that suks or is it my rifle?.plz need your help.excuse my bad english
hey rick first let me say I love yor videos. I just got the crossman g1 extreme and I was wondering if you would make a pellet test like this one for the g1
F1 Chrony for $78 shipped. That's about the cheapest I can find (Midwayusa) Do I have to have a camera tripod to put it on or can I just put it on a table? Remember, I'm new here. Also, I just yesterday got my Mendoza-600 (.177 & .22) & Falcon Hunter. The .177 really smokes and diesels a lot. cant shoot it in the house cause it stinks. what you do suggest i do to get that to stop? just keep firing? that mendoza has a GREAT trigger. Thx
yep.. just keep shooting.. the Mendoza rifles are great once you get past the first 300 pellets... The .177 is not so pellet picky.. but the .22 only likes RWS Superdomes... Just keep shooting.. they will settle down.
Hey Rick does the Gamo Socom Extreme in .177 interest you at all? I know your not much for the Hunter Extreme in .177 but I am hoping you can make a review on the Socom Extreme because I have it and want to hear about it from the experts. Thanks
my dad would use those to hunt rabbits in serbia and he thought they discontinued does pellet guns but when i told him they were in basspro and as soon as he heard that he got a pair on the spot
the Polymags, when they hit well, are devastating... They are seldom the most accurate, but at close range they hit accurate enough. Every once in a while you find a rifle that really likes them and then you have a really awesome combo. As for "numbers" they run a bit slower than crosman premiers.
Awesome reviews! What scope would you recommend for the hunter 440? I would prefer a large zoom for about 70-130$. Do I need a shock absorber between the rifle and the scope? Thanks a lot!
.22 pellets are generally heavier and fly straighter because of the additional weight. .177 pellets fly faster, but after 20 yards or so they loose velocity and accuracy.
Hello from the states.. With a name like Eutsler I should have been able to pronounce the word... oh well.. 1/2 Mexican and can't speak Spanish. At least I'm consistent!
Only have a modified 2240 atm. But i'm looking for a rifle. Would you say it is louder than a stock 2240? Or how would you describe the sound. Because of my place of living i don't want to alert my neigbours. Cheers for the fast answer.
if noise is an issue.. get a gamo Whisper or if you really want something awesome.. get the Airforce Talon SS or the new Benjamin Marauder. Incredible accuracy and the shrouded barrels make them whisper quiet.. so quite you wonder if the gun is actually firing... truly awesome!
I am going to buy a Gamo Hunter Sport in the next week or so and I was wondering if you have ever tested one on a chronograph, I am curios about the max velocity and the average velocity or maybe you know someone who has tested one, also I have heard different things about the scope what have you heard and/or experienced? Great vid by the way!!
springs can wear out prematurely, a common problem with low end rifles. Also, accidentally leaving them cocked can lead to metal fatigue and low performance. Besides all that, the gas ram's recoil is faster and without the torque of a standard metal spring, usually resulting in an easier shooting, more accurate rifle.
hey rick,,, just wondering if you have ever did a review on a rws 460? in 22 caliber tax time is comming thought about a new air gun? I did buy the benjamin trail np in 25 caliber it seems pretty nice so far, ive shot some birds with it. im happy with it. TObe

Hey Rick does the Gamo Socom Extreme in .177 interest you at all? I know your not much for the Hunter Extreme in .177 but I am hoping you can make a review on the Socom Extreme because I have it and want to hear about it from the experts. Thanks
beaconstructs 2 years ago
Hey there.. I can certainly request one from Gamo and see what they do. My guess is that they'll want me to look at one.

have you tested the predator polymags? If so what kind of numbers did you get?
08nichwes 2 years ago
the Polymags, when they hit well, are devastating... They are seldom the most accurate, but at close range they hit accurate enough. Every once in a while you find a rifle that really likes them and then you have a really awesome combo. As for "numbers" they run a bit slower than crosman premiers.

RWS Meisterkugeln = champion pellets spelled maister coogln.

I've found, as with other gamo claims, that 25% is carefully preceded by the words "up to." Which mean practically you will get "less than."
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
you may see a 10% to 15% increase in speed... but that does not mean that it will hit harder or fly straighter.

Hi,
Awesome reviews! What scope would you recommend for the hunter 440? I would prefer a large zoom for about 70-130$. Do I need a shock absorber between the rifle and the scope? Thanks a lot!
BillyRayBlackwood 2 years ago
Look at PyramydAir and search for leapers. They have some great scopes that will fit you budget.

i might get a pellet gun for my birthday. i have never had a pellet gun before and i think i like the Gamo big cat 1200
is that a good choice? But i want a gun under $140.00

whats the diffrents or whats the best .177 or .22 ?????
xRieZx 2 years ago
.22 pellets are generally heavier and fly straighter because of the additional weight. .177 pellets fly faster, but after 20 yards or so they loose velocity and accuracy.

very good video, i`m going to buy one hunter 440 of the 5.5. how is the gun? tell me. thanks :) great video:)
jamasss4jamasss4 2 years ago
Not sure on the 5.5, my guess is pretty good if the Whisper in .22 is anything to go by.

hey rick. great vids. what scope should i put on the walther lever action? it will be used for target shooting and on red sqruirrels at close range.
thanks
wevin37 2 years ago
stick to a 4x scope or even a red dot scope. At close range, you want quick target acquisition rather than big zoom.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
Hmmm .. I can scoop one of these , used in good condition , with the stock scope for 150$ ... thinking about biting.
PhillyPhunk 2 years ago
you might find one for that price... mine new was $199. consider the Gamo Big Cat 1200.. Same basic gun but in composite.

How loud is this rifle?
Making it up from a video is hard.
Rakaus29 2 years ago
not very loud.. about a 2 out of 5 with standard pellets. the PBA pellets can break the sound barrier and they are very loud, 4 out of 5.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
Only have a modified 2240 atm. But i'm looking for a rifle. Would you say it is louder than a stock 2240? Or how would you describe the sound. Because of my place of living i don't want to alert my neigbours. Cheers for the fast answer.
Rakaus29 2 years ago
if noise is an issue.. get a gamo Whisper or if you really want something awesome.. get the Airforce Talon SS or the new Benjamin Marauder. Incredible accuracy and the shrouded barrels make them whisper quiet.. so quite you wonder if the gun is actually firing... truly awesome!
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
Not into PCP yet, maybe in a few years!
The whisper, when looking on youtube. It still makes a lot of noise, or is it just the camera?
Haha, i've silenced my 2240 too. Just a little pff, you hear.
Rakaus29 2 years ago
the Whisper is way quieter than all my other rifles.. you hear the ram and the seal, but no shot noise. It is like someone clapping their hands.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
That was the reference i was looking for. Cheers.
Would you recommend to take this gun in 4.5 or 5.5?
Rakaus29 2 years ago
if you can get it in 5.5 then that is the way I'd go..
Rick

I am going to buy a Gamo Hunter Sport in the next week or so and I was wondering if you have ever tested one on a chronograph, I am curios about the max velocity and the average velocity or maybe you know someone who has tested one, also I have heard different things about the scope what have you heard and/or experienced? Great vid by the way!!
pawbear8 2 years ago
I've not tested one.. but all the 1000 fps gamo rifles are about the same.

And how many times a year are you ment to replace a basic spring?
Akas252 2 years ago
springs can wear out prematurely, a common problem with low end rifles. Also, accidentally leaving them cocked can lead to metal fatigue and low performance. Besides all that, the gas ram's recoil is faster and without the torque of a standard metal spring, usually resulting in an easier shooting, more accurate rifle.
