It's inspiring to watch some young people not being afraid to explore and talk about such subjects. Also very funny one liners. :)
I've tried a couple of times to explain the allegory and the ambiguity of the concept of reality to other people but before I get somewhere they give me either a "you need professional help" or "burn in hell, you infidel" look.
btw. You should re upload your video somewhere where it's not censored by the music.
Since I'm guessing you had no budget (I have been in a no-budget film before by the way), I think that this was very well made! Well done guys! Good direction for what you had to work with and I liked the comedy you threw in. I LOVE philosophy. I'm 20 and just started studying it at University. I think that u guys putting this (the foundations of all reasonable knowlege) on youtube is very important. Thankyou from me and all those who didn't know about this stuff before watching it! :)
What we believe to be real is just what we have seen. There are things that exist that we cannot begin to comphrehend. We are limited only to what we have seen before. A simple way to think of it is to think of infinity. Infinite possibilities. Actions and ideas that we cannot even begin to see because we cannot break these chains, climb the steps towards true knowledge and come back.
No, because there is no true knowledge. At the very least there is no way to obtain this knowledge. There is no end to the cave that is reality. The cave that shelters us from something different and unimaginable. The same way there is no end to numbers, there is no end to knowledge. I think i just blew a brain fuse.....fsdadsafdfdsgafngjsladfghadgtrjtykvcfdg
There is no true knowledge because we can't say for sure that there is definite facts becuase the very things we see could be a lie. How do we know for sure what we see is reality? You have a good point, and that is the confusing thing about this whole way of thinking. If there is no true knowledge then how is the knowledge of there being no true knowledge true. Why would that be the only truth? I cannot explain infinity so perhaps there is no human way to fully understand reality.
I'm not ruling religion out btw. but religion does not explain everthing. There are many questions we cannot answer about reality. Calmninja200 was too sure of himself no doubt. That goes to show that anyone who thinks they have reality completely figured out is way too sure of themselves. I honestly think that the allegory is one of the best explained and interesting explanations for reality i have heard. It's easy to become sure of yourself with such an intersting idea.
Also let me know if you find a good/better idea than this. I often consider myself one who thinks about reality way to much. (AKA philosopher) So these sorts of things make my day.

Calmninja200, you sound too sure of yourself to honestly make such statements.
How do you know that there is no true knowledge? For that matter, how have you obtained the knowledge that there is no knowledge?
