That's the smokingest intro I've ever heard from Eric, I keep coming back to watch it...truly inspiring now all I need is 50000 people and a kick ass band ;)
Clapton would have that Clapton tone and sound if he played a potato chip through a cracker box.. But I have to admit that for me the Soldano era was a close second to the Gibsons through the Marshalls from the Cream days.. I understand that he almost went back to the Gibson / Marshall set up for the Cream reunion but for some unknown reason decided to stick with strats & Fender twins. Sure would have been sweet! Maybe at some point the may pull them out again who knows, we can all hope
he was going to use the marshall but he said he didnt like the sound that was coming from the set up so he stuck with the strat and fender amp. he said that in the interveiw when asked to repsond on how the shows went. i love the RAH shows with cream
@keithstrat Jack Bruce didn't use his amps and basses from the Cream days either. In the DVD Bruce (I believe) talks about how they practiced with the classic gear but it didn't fit their playing styles now.
It appears that EC used - and still uses - a Samson wireless system which allows him to play freely without having those annoying cables under his feet.
He also used the wireless transmitter while playing acoustics on some rare occasions, but very often.
I was there in Hartford for this show...somebody tossed the hat onto the stage so he put it on...seen Eric 10 times at least and never with hat on...it was a great show.
isn't it? what is it? i can now see smoke is all over the stage, but there is certainly a concentration around the head of his guitar, the optimal place to put a cigarette. theres a vid on youtube when he was in cream, there a cigarette on his SG at the same spot
had to watch this again..good job slunky08..I love it when he jams like this..and he looks so cute & sexy in that hat :-) ...and cool with the cig..God I love him :-)
Yeah, such a fun seeing him walking around like that.. And what a f... super-band. Phil Palmer (guitar) and Alan Clark (keyboards) from Dire Straits were in the band too.
His real name is Epic Clapton =)

At the time he said also, that the volume was a problem as both he and Ginger (and maybe Jack, too) have bad problems with their hearing´.

Lol, strawer, I don't think specialagentslowhand meant literally walking in circles around people while playing...

I really dig Clapton's Soldano period :) (though hate the leather pants and shiny emo-guitar strap ;) )
dudesps3 2 years ago
Clapton uses tweed Twins since late 1994.
He used a Vibro-King with Crash 1 and 2 from 2001 to 2003 and ran a couple of Marshall amplifiers in 2004 with Crash 3 and Crash 1.
strawer 2 years ago
Didn't he use the Marshall amps for his Leslie speakers?

Check the FAQs on Whereseric! for more details about EC's gear. You'll certainly find the right answer on your question.

Definately superior guitarist to Eddie or Jimmy and still better than Mr. Hendrix, they were all great but Clapton is the true Guitar God.
