  • my TA WS6 is dynoing 650 rwhp & 685 torq i been hooking it up since i got it 5 years ago i i love my TA glad i went for it wen i saw it if not i would of been driving a gay stang lol ... My plate says I pimp slap mustangs haha

  • Nice race. I figured it might be more even, but the WS6 takes it. My Dad has a mostly stock 1999 WS6 30th Aniv with exhaust and intake, and I have 2005 LS2 GTO. Given he has less mods it might be closer but still looks like his WS6 would win =\... mod time for me!!

  • I heard a rumor from an old buddy that putting the tailgate down on a truck can give ya 1 mile more to the gallon on the freeway cause of drag. Lol. Don't know if its true and yes its off topic here but just so anybody who owns a truck wanted to know. Give it a shot.

  • they proved on myth busters that the drag you are talking about actually creates more strain on the engine lowering MPGs with the tail gate up creates moving air inside the bed allowing better aero dynamics

  • That makes no sense. How the hell would it make better aerodynamics with the tail gate up? Air hits that thing at freeway speed. That makes absolutely no sense.

  • when traveling the circulated air in the bed rotates which causes the frontal air to roll over the truck. with the tail gate down the circulated air escapes and the frontal air pushes down on the tail gate causing more MPGs then normal. air doesn't hit the tail gate head on like you said

  • And the GTO weighs more and is not as aerodynamic as the Trans Am. Alot of people don't take aerodynamics into account when racing. I race with me headlights down at night when I street race. It can create drag. Put your hand out the window on the freeway vertical and see how your hand is forced back. Then make it go horizontal and cut through the wind. Point made..... Thats why my Trans Am gets 30 miles to the gallon on the freeway and trucks are always stuck at 24 tops.

  • Ya, to go on with what driftslave said, even the LT1 trans am were underestimated just for the corvettes. The LT1's would lay down 300 horsepower, not 275.

  • yea gto had to be shiftin early or takein his dear sweet time shiftin. Own an 05 gto and i experience almost no lag in acceleration when i shift... but i dont shift til around 6400rpm sometimes all but red line. Moded ws6 should take a stock ls2, but car to car drivers race with slight advantage to the goat.

  • 6400?? so you must have a tuner and taken off the rev limiter... but if you did that, you would lose your power curve, its not a civic..

  • 6500 is the rev limiter... And no I wouldnt lose my power curve, I make HP all the way to red line, I have the dyno sheet to prove it. My torque curves begin to fall but the HP line continues to climb. The LS2 lkes to rev...

  • He would 'not' have smoked him! A stock '98-'02 Trans Am WS6 can run the 1/4 in 13.1 stock and a '05-'06 GTO can run 13.0 (auto)/13.3 (manual) stock, so don't be surprised that a T/A can keep up with a GTO! A late model '02 T/A has an LS6 intake and 85mm MAF, those would be a little faster.

  • The Trans Am actually has the exact same 345hp LS1 that the Corvette had, but they underrated it so the Corvette owners wouldn't feel screwed. Also, there is almost NO difference between the base model Trans AM and the WS6 besides the hood and wheels and a badge...and the hood doesn't really do much at all.

  • The hood allows more cool air to flow into the engine acting like a cool air intake. Plus it has lighter aluminum rims, a racing suspension, and a couple other things special not found on a non WS6.

  • Yeah, but the IMPORTANT difference between the two models was false. GM loves to do that though. Basically, the base model AND the WS6 Trans Ams BOTH made 345hp. Exact same engine as the vette.  They just advertised 305hp and 325hp for the WS6. In reality they dyno the same.

    The only power difference is on the 01 and 02 models because they had the LS6 Intake manifold stock so they made closer to 360hp.

  • @driftslave not if your talking about the zo6 otherwise yes they are the same motor and the ws6 are a pretty good amount quicker. ive been in the car with a stock ws6 vs a stock regular trans am both automatic and every race the ws6 pulled a good three cars.

  • @driftslave actually the suspension is different as well from a ws6 to a trans am. nad yes the horsepower is different as well. its about a 15 hp difference. i dont know about the ws6 but the hood scoop on the ss is actually functional

  • @driftslave ws6 has a ram air intake and less restrictive exhaust.

  • the ls1 was under rated, ws6 actually has 345 hp at the crank, but the gto is a little heavier. So stock for stock its usually a drivers race. But a bolt on ws6 should have pulled him harder than that, I know I have a bolt on camaro

  • yeah i have to totally agree with you Flabernat, the ws6 is really intimidating, and i seen one driving down the road the other day and it just looked totally pissed off lol

  • yeah i agree i own 3 mustangs (1998cobra,04 cobra, 06 GT) but damm i would have to say the ws6 is the most intimidating even coming from a ford guy

  • Yea I talked my way out of one of those cops on the "between the buildings" road. Had I not pulled over and sat for 5 min for him I would have stood a good chance of getting away. I was 5 blocks from my storage at night with a 3 block + lead.

  • was that GTO a 5.7 or a 6.0 cause the even though the WS6 has a 5.7 if the 5.7 GTO ran against the T/A it would get owned due to how much heavier it is

  • The TA will be back my sons. if kevin morgans concept designs get recognized im sure GM would be willing to bring it back. personally i think the TA is the coolest muscle car built.

  • ehhh. its a 6.o gto, doesn't look like he pushed it past 2nd gear tho. cuz after that he fell way behind. and its only 200 pounds more. yeah its a diff but not huge

  • stock for stock they are close... the ws6 had bolt ons so why does that make the GTO driver suck? obviously if two cars are even stock, the modified one should win. i dont think its that confusing.... The GTO is a beautiful car. I own a 2000 ws6 but would own a gto in a heart beat. The interior is a little better, but the outside is just kinda boring... plus its a bit on the heavy side.

  • i have a stock 2000 trans am and i keep up with my buddies ls2 gto all the time..even beat him on a good day..oh wait..but his is auto..

  • that gto driver was shifting very early. it looks like he bogged it in 3rd gear... or accidently shifted back into first. he obviously was crap for a driver. LS2 gto and an LS1 f-body are actually a fairly even match stock for stock. it's to bad there are a lot of noob drivers out there with these cars. they're not getting the respect they deserve. don't judge a car on a bad driver. if you want to find out how fast a car is, drive one yourself. i drove 3 of them before i bought mine.

  • that is a ls1 a lt1 can't take on an ls2 the lt1 si to old

  • the lt1 (which i own) puts out just as much torque and alittle less HP. My '95 T/A with K&N FIPK and Flowmasters has run with GTO's just like shown in the Vid. Races stoplight to stoplight are more about out of the hole torque than all out HP

  • GTO was such a fucking faggy replacement they should of never stopped making the firebird although it does make it cool now because that car will always look modern and not old like 90 percent of cars and still will be a beast although with the one I'm getting I plan to give it so much HP it will cry!
