  • @quantumcodex , culturally, Hong Kong people could not be more different from Mainland chinese people. While we speak Cantonese, it is so different from Mainland Chinese, our education, culture, beliefs and traditions have set us apart and we see ourselves as a distinct society.

  • @LovelyBeanz

Cantonese oversea support our brothers Hongkonger.

Stupid Beijing professor should have apologize to us.

  • she is hongkongese :)

    nice =]

  • People shouldn't really be shocked by this. Its no different from people of African or Caribbean descent coming from America; everyone accepts and understands it. But because something like this is less common; people question it.

  • haha she called herself an egg X3 white on the outside and yellow on the inside lol

  • @12345uh9 If she is an egg then I am a bannana.

  • I wonder if her English is all right.

  • Her accent is better than Corina's.

  • @luf4rall I think the reason for Sharon's accent being better is because Sharon is a native Cantonese speaker; she was born and raised there; therefore, she speaks Cantonese like any other native-born speaker, but her English has a Cantonese accent. I think Corrina was born in Australia but grew up in HK, but she speaks Aussie English and Cantonese.

  • I see Sharon as Chinese, no matter which continent or race or ethnic or culture she come from. If she or anyone grew up in China or HK and adpoted the way of life there and have Chinese passport, they are Chinese.

  • @IKNFLY666 I am not sure whether that is the case, but I heard the Chinese communist party is kind of racist and officially declare only a Chinese can be Hong Kongness or Taiwanese. It is quiet offensive, at Taiwan we would just tell the CCP to shut it, in response to statement like that. But I dated a white Taiwanese girl once (born and grew up there) and occassionally, I get a Chinese person saying she can not be Taiwanese because she isn't Chinese, it was really offensive

  • @juiweiYang2000 i don't know about what CCP officially declared, but two things to consider;

    1) the constitution of PRC should, ideally, the final interpretation of citizenship, which state all person holding PRC passport is citizen of PRC, regardless of race.

    2) there are non-Chinese looking minorities living in frontier provinces, eg Uyghur and Kazakh turks, if CCP declare a racially base citizenship, this will become a justification of minority separatist movement.

  • @IKNFLY666 Well, I am not 100% certain about whether the CCp said something like that either, but at least we know the PRC are not racist on a constiutional level.

  • a perfect Egg white on the outside but yellow on the inside :)

  • @fliliu i don't know where you buy your eggs, but they should ALWAYS be like that

  • now she is smarter

  • egg = white on outside yellow inside looollllllllllll

  • egg

  • Eggs can be yellow on the surface too...

  • It's not special at all! She's just a Hongkonger who has a white skin.

  • Nothing special, there are so many Asians born in Europe or USA and they all are able to speak English very fluent. The fact that she is born in HK doesnt make it any different.

  • Sharon really has acquired some Chinese values -- she says she lives with her mother-in-law. She cherishes the New Year celebration. That's the 'wow' factor, not just only her mastery of Cantonese.

  • wow so 'lo to'

  • Hi Sharon or Pastor Dennis Balcombe,

One of my family friend was diagnosed the same kind of illness as Sharon.

Are you guys able to refer me to the doctor that you have mentioned? Please !

Look forward to hear from you soon

  • people say they're amazed. I'm not. Why should I? I'm chinese and was born in north america, but people around me don't come up and say "wow, your english is good"..except for the time when I was in a strip club and the stripper said that my accent was pretty good (whatever the hell that means. I didn't care. she had nice boobies).

  • @cjason123 well the majority of the population in hong kong is cantonese, and are genetically chinese. any other ethnicity visiting hong kong does not usually speak canto in any form, especially well.

  • @rivengle Genetics has nothing to do with learning a language. How well a person speaks is a mixture of their social surroundings, their interactions with peers, and how and where they were brought up, basically. She was brought up in HK, therefore, she speaks HK Cantonese as opposed to Mainland Cantonese (which is more formal and doesn't contain the HK slang ).

  • @rivengle I think language has nothing to do with genetics. It's how well someone teaches you and how much a person uses it, with a mixture of the social surroundings.

  • she is more hong kong-nese than me... --___--

  • i don't understand why whenever a white person can speak fluent chinese, people are like WOW..but it's considered common for asians to speak fluent Eng..

  • @hoiningt Errr hmm probably because it's still unusual?

  • @ahallidie Yeah I'm with you. It is unusual. I mean, how often do you see a white woman speaking Cantonese like a local?

  • She is an 'egg', LOL.

  • I feel disgraced.... I'm an American-born Chinese and my Cantonese is crap compared to her....

  • This is really screwing with my brain. It's like that game where you're supposed to call RED yellow and GREEN blue etc.

  • - She IS a native speaker. whats the the deal? Nobody says " OOooh this asian girl is able to speak english like a native " ...

  • Sounds pretty damn native to me. I'm ABC so my Canto sucks compared to her xD

  • I don't see the big deal. She's Chinese, she may not be Asian but she is Chinese.

  • @TheHairluver if you're asian you're cantonese!

  • @TheHairluver Don't you see she has green eyes? That means she must be MERICAN ! Mericans can learn perfect Chinese, that's impressive.

  • @TheHairluver Agree she is definitly Chinese, but I guess sometime people of minortiy raace can have identity crisis, unless the nation officially declare themselve as multiculture or multiracial on a government level

  • @juiweiYang2000 Is Corinna Chamberlain and Sharon Balcombe The Same Personal?

  • @DanielaRSandraBFan Nan, Chamberlain is a pop star "Although i don't think she is main stream", Balcombe is a priest "She look a bit like a older version of Emma Watson though"

  • @juiweiYang2000 thx for the info now i could stop wondering if they are same or not

  • @juiweiYang2000 an older version of emma watson.. LOL. it sounds like a compliment... yet not really hahhaha

  • Wasn't she born in Hong Kong and didn't she go to school there? If so, I don't see what the big deal is. It's no different than the process any native speaker goes through.

  • she sounds like a race traitor.

  • @TheBlarges lol, that's probably because you're too 'pro-race'

  • EGG? Better than what I get called....BANANA...but only just better lol

  • Her cantonese is perfect. I tried to listen to her words without looking at her face, her accent is barely noticeable. I's born and raised in hk

  • She has excellent accent.

  • I attended high school in Macau from HK. Saw some beautiful Portugees from another high school walking by and made a remark about them in Cantonese to my buddies. The girls turn around and confronted us and demanded an appology from me, or else! I was shocked because they spook perfect Cantonese and they cursed nastier then us. I appologized to them and later on we all became friends. Then I found out they were 4th generations in Macau...I learned not to prejudge (prejudice) from that on....

  • what is the big deal she can speak fluent cantonese, if she started early in life speaking that dialect and has a ear for listening and understanding it, then it is no wonder that she can be an expert at it. practice, practice, practice and it dosen't hurt if u have a good hearing abilities and can distinguish the various tones in that dialect, more power to her, lol.

  • why is everyone amazed? * points at title * that's her native language. Just because she's white doesn't mean she can't learn to speak Cantonese exactly like a chinese person.

  • @magorianworld , her Cantonese is better than many ethnical Chinese kids. I don't know what you're talking about.

  • @magorianworld

    Her Cantonese is pretty shitty.

  • HOLYYY SHIITTTT... wait... Im a asian and people say I got a australian accent... why am I surprised?

  • result of UK's ruling in Hong Kong

  • @zhuzhipeng100 How is she result of UK ruling hong kong? just an american migrant. Why don't you talk about the romans and viking ruling UK which resulted in linguistic relation with latin, or perhaps you're an mandarin north chinese ruled by many northern nomadic empires.

  • LOL GAI DAN

  • Awe, love her chicken egg analogy. :D

    Alternately, I'm a banana. :O

  • Shalom sister Sharon, You look like as me. My parent are Chinese, but I was born in Venezuela. And about 16, my father send me to study Chinese in H.K. So I can speak like you. And now I am also a Christian, ALELUYA! San Chuk Fuc Lei ! Jeje!

  • Loverly Sharon what a clever good girl. x

  • Man she's in it. Even when she speaks English it has the tones. Great stuff. As someone white from Hong Kong and raised in English schools... I don't have an accent just like this lady but I don't have her vocabulary. It's not as weird as Chinese people think. There is no reason a white person shouldn't be able to speak perfectly. In the future you will see a lot more of this. It's just that the English are terrible linguists!

  • wow, my friend said her cantonese is so good. It is amazing. Not looking at her face, I thought she is chinese for sure. She is very talented in speech.

  • Her Cantonese is 100 times better than mine, and I'm Chinese. Good for her. This would've been better had it not been for all the religious crap. Thumbs down.

  • hmmm. 11 dislikes. I wonder what is there to dislike about.

  • she is good, really good

  • shes so fluent!!!im so bad at Cantonese...

  • i laughted really hard when her brother said 好多鬼佬=-=

  • EGG...

  • @garyisanape Heh.. When a foreigner doesnt speak chinese everyone gets angry about them coming in and dont even trying to learn the language and culture. When a foreigner does speak chinese people start calling them "EGG". pfftt... Thats a retared term.

  • There is a great deal of novelty in seeing this caucasian woman speaking fluent Chinese. Why? Because just being born in Hong Kong and growing up there does not automatically mean an American or British person will also learn Chinese - I would guess, in fact, that most such people did NOT end up learning Cantonese, but instead were educated in English.

  • Her Cantonese is better than my wife. Strong!

  • this is like planet of the apes

  • Her Cantonese is pretty accurate, but her English sounds heavily accented D:

  • 外國人講中文真系好少見..

  • she is very sexy, would like to cum in her

  • @yougotafriendinme80 ........oooook then...........weirdo

  • her english is worse.. haahhaah

  • this is fucking blowing my mind. intonation is perfect. now the question is, how's her english :P?

  • i find white girl speaking cantonese sexy for some reason

  • damn she can speak better cantonese than i ever can

  • waaah. Goh guh siu jeh de Guangdong wah ho si lik.

  • FUCK.....her cantonese is so good that you can't tell she is white by listening to her talk.

  • @fd09david

You cannot tell anyones skin colour by listening to them talk. You can only guess. Language is not based on melanin buddy.

  • did sun da gau her?

  • Her Cantonese is pretty damn close to native.

  • @xyzizzle - she is native.... it's her *FIRST* language.

  • wow shes really beautiful! shes white and she can speak really well! im chinese and italian and i cant speak much maybe i should work on my chinese

  • That's cool...but I speak perfect English cuz I was born in the US. I'm just sayin'. She's still cool.

  • @Onlywon so....being born in another language doesn't mean you get rid of the other

  • @myfunkychannel Not sure what you're tryin' to say, but yes. Speaking 2 languages is always cool. Just making the observation that people are more impressed with a white person that speaks Chinese cuz they're born in HK, than with a Chinese person speaking English cuz they are born in the states.

  • I like her! :D

  • I'm so ashamed that I'm half cantonese and I speak incredibly broken cantonese compared to this woman =(.

  • @dman19851996 You and I both, except I'm technically full-cantonese, which makes it all the more shameful. I only can get the gist of what she's saying using words I know, context clues, and the scenes they show XD.

  • jus amazed at her fluent canto... i cant even speak fluently and im canto-_-

  • Thank you, Sharon, Your family is a blessing to us!!

  • @idunnoiii

    XDDD 有什么意思?

  • 佢係一隻雞蛋

    好多中國人就係香蕉

    有趣

  • Oh she should worry about Identity crisis! if she speak native Cantonese like that, she is a HONG KONGer period!

  • we live so close to each other but I've never seen her

  • I am truly amazed at her cantonese accent. She sounds like a native speaker.

  • @zaxle12 wtf, she is a native speaker. duh.

  • @zaxle12

Did you not read the title buddy? She IS a native speaker.

  • @zaxle12 because she is ~ lol

  • @zaxle12

She has no accent at all. What the fuck are you talking about!

  • @zaxle12 Maybe she is a native speaker. Just because she's white, doesn't mean she can't be one. I don't know though, because I can't understand Cantonese.

  • @zaxle12 She is a native speaker.

  • LOL she says shes an egg, but for me I am a banana.

  • @tinfoilandy lol.. malaysian/singaporean?

  • @loveliferocks chinese canadian? i'm more white-washed than asian. wbu?

  • @tinfoilandy ahh.. i'm chinese malaysian lol.. i guess you could say i'm very asian? lol.. i thought you guys would use 'twinkie' instead of 'banana' heheh...

  • @loveliferocks Yeah, Twinkies is another way of saying it. So you're a twinkie or full yellow lol?

  • @tinfoilandy hahah.. i wouldn't say i'm a twinkie cos I didn't grow up in a white community.. but i wont say i'm full yellow either cos I don't speak Mandarin/Cantonese very fluently, its my third language here lol. Banana would be about right, yellow outside, less yellow inside LOL!

  • @loveliferocks

Does Cantonese/Chinese people ever pressure you to fully assimilate or expect you to speak a perfect Cantonese and if you dont, will they treat you like a foreigner ?

no matter how hard you try to be nice with them. I am merely doing this to do some comparative analysis between POC in American versus non-asian living in their country

  • When I went through singapore for a holiday, most singaporean speak ugly cantonese, that what make her even perfect.

  • wow, she even speak cantonese to her own children.

  • Hong Kong is the most westernize part of East Asia. So expect more white living in hong kong.

  • cool

  • OF COURSE SHE SPEAKS CANTONESE BETTER THAN ALL YOU PEOPLE, SEEING AS IT'S HER FIRST LANGUAGE.

  • A lot of Cantonese speaking White people are Christian. I find that interesting.

  • @extrekkie13 It's the schools in HK

  • I'm from Canton/Guangzhou living in australia, her cantonese is better then mine.

  • Lol I was watching Resident Evil gameplays an hour ago and i question myself how the ended up in this video. Weird o.O?

  • @TeriyakiS0up dude my youtube experience everytime!

  • @TeriyakiS0up Because some evils are chinks and speak chinky language :)

  • For all intents of purposes, she is Chinese, in every sense of the word. Screw you people who think otherwise.

  • she good better than meeee

  • my HK friend who stay in malaysia for more than 15 years also speaking cantonese that have malay accent....another friends' wife (vietnamese) also can speak perfect malay and mandarin after she married to his husband and stay here for more than 10 years....

  • Wow. Whole prison got converted.

  • i just noticed some of these foreign cantonese speakers are from an evangelical background. Have you ever noticed the Mormon preachers in the streets of HK always speak excellent Cantonese?

  • she's not Chinese she's Cantonese lol

  • Her Cantonese is even batter than mine, I being a native speaker and she is not.

  • @melvinchen83 She *is* a native speaker.

  • @melvinchen83 You must be intellectually disabled to say she is not native. I feel like a big idiot to even reply to you, and I can tell you say this comment because you assume white skin = english speaker. Get a life dude.

  • @melvinchen83

it says she is a native speaker...therefore she is native.

  • She called herself an egg. White on outside and yellow on inside. lul.

  • wow we chinese are so fascinated by foreigners that can speak cantonese/chinese lol

  • @Nightwisher87 She's not a foreigner...

  • @VictimOfBoredom chinese consider those who don't look oriental a foreigner, yes in the proper sense she isn't one as she has immigrated to HK.

  • omg

  • really appreciate foreigners learning my mother tongue!!!

  • @shanhung86 - Foreigner? She is local and Cantonese is her mother tongue.

  • WOW. I was born in HK but her cantonese is like a billion times better than me.

  • i didnt know white ppl could learn chinese

  • @yarahahrwe What in the world does race have to do with linguistic ability? If she was born and raised Canto, why wouldn't she be able to speak it?

That's like an Asian being born and raised in the USA and not being able to speak English. -__-

  • It's really not that surprising nowadays. But back in the 1600s and before, that would be like "what in the blue hell"?

  • @turbobenx, not really, around 1000AD, there are 1000 times more foreigners in Tang and Song China than it is right now. It become a lot lot less around 1500 to 1600 and even less around 1800s. And now it is just on the way of getting back to Tang and Song's peak of internationalism.

  • The "christians" and "muslims" will NEVER understand what I'm saying as they're too BRAINWASHED and locked into their "superiority" to understand the Chinese culture and civilization is immune to YOUR "superiority" as the Chinese ACTUALLY LOOK DOWN ON YOU.

  • Sorry but the middle-east desert "religions" have been trying at China for most of 2000 years and the desert "religions" have NEVER made any SERIOUS inroads into Chinese civilization/culture.

Sorry but Chinese culture/civilizations is SO highly evolved and highly developed and successful that the middle east desert religions simply hold no lure for the VAST MAJORITY of Chinese as, if anything, would be a retrogressing or devolving of the Chinese civilizations.

  • @lukebccb, dude, are you kidding me! Dont you know what the Hui is? Islam has as much influence in China as Buddhism has. The only difference is that Islam is much more stricter than Buddhism.

  • atheism is the way forward to a better future.

  • @vinsong

    NO ONE CARES.

  • @aortablue you care enough you reply trololololololol

  • @vinsong just relax. calm down.

  • good for her

  • You gonna be kiddin' me...

  • Perfect Cantonese!

  • If you were born in HK, u better be able to speak Cantonese. It is also expected that you speak ENGLISH in AMERICA!!! not that wetback shit, even though I know Espanol. I also speak French, German

  • That's why Chinese government is not allowing Christianity to flourish in China, because China would be a more Christian country than the USA, lol. Praise the Lord!

  • @jimmyjamesWang praise the lord he doesn't let a institute which propogates disgusting and outdated and oppressive ideas flourish

  • @jimmyjamesWang Hu JInTao is lord???!!!
