I think Corrina was born in Australia but grew up in HK, but she speaks Aussie English and Cantonese.

I attended high school in Macau from HK. Saw some beautiful Portugees from another high school walking by and made a remark about them in Cantonese to my buddies. The girls turn around and confronted us and demanded an appology from me, or else! I was shocked because they spook perfect Cantonese and they cursed nastier then us. I appologized to them and later on we all became friends. Then I found out they were 4th generations in Macau...I learned not to prejudge (prejudice) from that on....
what is the big deal she can speak fluent cantonese, if she started early in life speaking that dialect and has a ear for listening and understanding it, then it is no wonder that she can be an expert at it. practice, practice, practice and it dosen't hurt if u have a good hearing abilities and can distinguish the various tones in that dialect, more power to her, lol.

@tinfoilandy hahah.. i wouldn't say i'm a twinkie cos I didn't grow up in a white community.. but i wont say i'm full yellow either cos I don't speak Mandarin/Cantonese very fluently, its my third language here lol. Banana would be about right, yellow outside, less yellow inside LOL!

Does Cantonese/Chinese people ever pressure you to fully assimilate or expect you to speak a perfect Cantonese and if you dont, will they treat you like a foreigner ?
no matter how hard you try to be nice with them. I am merely doing this to do some comparative analysis between POC in American versus non-asian living in their country

my HK friend who stay in malaysia for more than 15 years also speaking cantonese that have malay accent....another friends' wife (vietnamese) also can speak perfect malay and mandarin after she married to his husband and stay here for more than 10 years....

@turbobenx, not really, around 1000AD, there are 1000 times more foreigners in Tang and Song China than it is right now. It become a lot lot less around 1500 to 1600 and even less around 1800s. And now it is just on the way of getting back to Tang and Song's peak of internationalism.

Sorry but the middle-east desert "religions" have been trying at China for most of 2000 years and the desert "religions" have NEVER made any SERIOUS inroads into Chinese civilization/culture.
Sorry but Chinese culture/civilizations is SO highly evolved and highly developed and successful that the middle east desert religions simply hold no lure for the VAST MAJORITY of Chinese as, if anything, would be a retrogressing or devolving of the Chinese civilizations.
