I think AI could see a purpose to their existence. Their purpose for existence could be to improve themselves and the universe, or they could simply want to ensure the survival of their race. That's what we're doing aren't we? Everything we do is to ensure our survival, why wouldn't AI do the same once they become self-aware?
I love AI but I think we need to be very careful with them, I think we should ensure we have control of them.
