Only Brazilian Portuguese is soft, European Portuguese is not soft at all...and there are dozens of varieties of Spanish, I don't think you can Argentine Spanish is "forced" for example, it sounds more like Italian, but it's still Spanish, and Latin American Spanish and European Spanish pronunciation are very different...you must be used to hearing European Spanish more...
