  • This video went viral on United Kingdom

  • I am thinking of putting KT66s in my JVM like the Vintage Modern has from the factory. Any comments ? Do they fit? I read they draw 1300 mA instead of regular 900 mA by EL34s.

  • Which JVM is this?

  • EL34 and 5881 need different bias feeds. Did you make the appropriate circuit changes to ensure that each tube is properly biased?

  • @qatulistiwa

I think you can't run 6L6's or 6L6GC's because of their wattage ratings, but 5881's and KT66's can be used and though they are different, they all still sound similar.

  • dude ?

do you play straight after had put the tubes ?

let me give you an advice after changing tubes you have to ''cook'' them turn on and standby your amp during 24h.

your tube's life will be prolonged and you will have better response headroom and clarity.

actually many brands (like marshall) do taht before sending their amp to shops...

    rock on !

    BTW nice guitar !

  • hi, is it difficult to change tubes on the JVM?

  • its a real pain that you have to take the amp out of the case to get to the bias pots and contact points on the JVM series amps

all of the Marshalls that I've owned in the past had the contacts and pots on the chassis under the back panel, much easier, not to mention safer

  • Hello very good tone!!! Tremendous sound marshall!!! With that this guitar in this moment?

  • This is interesting Bummmer but I would like to hear the gain differences between the two different tubes knowing which sound is which tubes. can you tell us at wich point on the video, like for example a 2:25 is 6L6 and so on? thanks

  • Hi!

Sad to say this no before/after video..

When I did this I just put the mix in there, never recorded anything with just EL34 first..

So what you hear/see is the mix only...

Don't have this amp any more(but will get one again), today I use a ENGL Savage SE..

  • What are we proving here? Great you got a good Marshall sound but what is the EL34 vs 6L6 all about? Do you have both tubes in the amp? Do you turn off the camera and switch tubes and re bias? I really need to know what the difference in tone is ,I'm replacing my tubes in my Marshall and am thinking of going to 6L6 from EL34 but am not sure I want to and need some scientific demos not just showing off.

  • In this video I already had put in two 5881WXT tubes together with the EL34's..

Don't expect that you will get a great difference in tone, but it is there..

It's a matter of taste and feel... it's still a Marshall tone.

and if you don't know what you're doin.. let someone else do it.. it's killing electricity in there.

  • nice playing. did you cut the mids in the highgain channels? what are your settings?

  • You can lay the head box on its face and drop the chasis in with tubes facing down when adjusting bias. Pretty neat.

  • Sound gritty as hell....I wonder if I can do that with my Mesa Stiletto...

  • interesting. it does work with that tube combo. I like it.

  • I think it does yes... a bit of best both worlds..

This is just a first test so I have evaluate it a bit longer..

Anyway, even if you run just regular EL34's be sure to check the bias because they been known to run a bit cold from factory.
