The S1000RR can be fast in a straight line. On a circuit, even with long straights, it can't match with an Aprilia rsv4, see bmw's newspaper (motoplus).

A jap bike will always be a honda while the MV is the same as a ferrari/lambo, I know which one I'd want money no object. That said, I'd take virtually any 2000-2004 R1 considering that's something us poor working schmucks can afford..
