Amazing run! I was very much into Pitfall! and dropped about 42 bucks to own the ATARI 2600 version when it came out. I do know this, it was the best game on the market there for awhile.

I'm very glad to hear from people who actually played Pitfall II way back in the day. Anything you can teach me would be appreciated. (You might like to watch my 12:48 speedrun of getting 199,000 points on Google Video btw ... the link is in this video's comments.
Oh, and maybe you could tell me ... did the original slow down (music and gameplay) like this version does? I'm guessing it didn't.

I'm just leaving this attempt up because it's kind of funny at the end, and to be honest the last 3 minutes are more exciting than the (faster) way I have learned since. The video response to this is my best try so far.
It always broke my heart when he died and the music got really sad. I played the living shit out of this game as a kid.

I made a nice little map of it, with the second level on the back. Loads of tiny bats and scorpions. :)
For some reason the version my friend owned had a second level.

Wow, very impressive. The best 2600 game ever, it always took me 15 minutes to beat it. I learned some stuff on this

Not bad. I've always liked this version over the first. This is identical to the 2600 cartridge except that the music is slower in this version.
Makes me want to play this game again lol.
