Nice video. I had the same problem and sent it in for repair a year after buying it. I personally do not like it, mainly due in part to the blinking laser. To me, it is somewhat of a distraction over a "normal" steady dot from other products. I have crimson trace on my S&W M&P 45, as well as S&W J Frame .38, at the time I ordered this I do not believe they had a grip for the sumcompact? Been about two or so years ago? EIther way, if I could get a refund and go with CT, I would in a heartbeat.
@MrLooseSkrews No metal touches the plastic on a polymer gun during a cycle. The slide operates on a metal guide. Plastic being impacted by metal is a fundamental design flaw which is shown in this video and lasermax's failure to design a metal backing for the rod. Polymer pistols have been made for a very long time are are extremely reliable. Most rifles use plastic for their stocks as well. I'm LOLing at your stupidity.
@spinball6 Wow. Thank you for all the enlightening info... I am about as close to Glock Armorer as you can get without actually being certified, and am more aware than you seem to realized of how a polymer pistol functions. It was a joke. I'm now LOLing at the fact that you make such profound assumptions about a person based on a silly YouTube comment on a year old video. Best wishes. -Josh
PS- If you take this as a start for a flame war, the remainder of your comments will go without reply.
@spinball6 Also, agreed that it is a major design flaw. I can't tell you how many times I have advised customers to go with Crimson Trace if you truly want l laser on your firearm. Lasermax is an interesting concept, due to the fact that it does not alter the appearance of your weapon, but I have never advised installation, nor installed one of these things in anyone's pistol.
I'm not looking at all at the responses but doesn't a co. offer rear sights with a built in lazer that wouldn't effect anything. One side is the lazer the other is the battery ? If I bought THAT and seen that the part that takes alot of wear and tear is plastic,I wouldn't of never tried it,back to the co. it goes and a credit on my Visa.
It would've been an outstanding design but the activation method requires a plastic, non conductive part to isolate the electric current for it to turn off & on. They couldve made it thicker or something more substantial. I wonder how mine would stand the test of time. Way I look at it, I'm gonna keep on practicing w this gadget as long as its still under warranty. Let us know how it turned out so far and how is the customer service on Lasermax. Thanks for the review!
I have the LM1131-P for the Glocks and looking at the plastic cap, I had the same thoughts! On the lug, standing up to the recoil? The OEM rods on the Glocks are plastic too but this one looks like its just too damn thin. Reason being I thinks is because of how its turned on. It uses the barrel as a conduit for it to activate the laser. If you notice that slide lock they send w the product, it has that white slot for the gold contact to rest on the off position. Yes, that red cap ruined it!
Probably if you wouldnt have called them and called their product Stupid! They would have taken you seriously. Its the way you talk to people that gets results, Not insulting them. By the way i have had That Lasermax Product , You Know the one with the Stupid Plastic Cap on my Gun for the past 7 Months. I havent had any problems. Good luck to you.
@babyface10725 I called them and spoke with a very nice man who gave me their address and was very good at helping me. I was perfectly polite to them and said absolutely nothing about anything being "stupid."
I'm not an idiot. But Thank You for assuming I am.
@zrbeach I actually don't even see your new comment. i got it in my little "comments" inbox thing, but I don't see it here. in fact, I don't remember removing ANY comments. strange.
I took my xd subcompact 40 to the range yesterday with a couple of friends. We shot about 150 rounds and never had a problem with the laser or pistol.
@spikeramirezjr I got it back the other day- they replaced the springs, tested it and say it worked just fine for them. I've re-installed it on my XD but I haven't tested it myself to make sure it works yet, but I see they also sent me an extra plastic cap which was sort of funny but nice of them at the same time.
The LaserMax showed up yesterday. they replaced the springs, tested it, found it to work fine, and sent it back to me. I have not tried it yet, but it is INSTALLED on the gun...I guess we'll see!
@silver2002ta I did finally get a hold of them directly (actually they called ME after I contacted Smyrna Shooters supply where I bought it from) and the man I spoke with told me to send it off and they would check it out. He said sometimes the springs just aren't quite right, so we'll see...I'm still waiting at this point.
Either way, better to have some type of laser over nothing at all IMO. Good video and conversation starter.
