@justnotcricket its the stance it has on the road and the beastlike front styling and headlights. people like new designs, kinda like the chevy colorado styling is pretty outdated.
@jimmyhoffa9 Well modern is good, that's not the element I was focused on. To me it looks very soft. There's nothing sleek about it, and on the other hand there is nothing muscular about it, it's neither fish nor foul. I'm surprised the word coupe even turned up in descriptions of it.
@justnotcricket well its really a matter of opinion. coupe is meant to be the body "style" rather than a badge. i dont like it a huge amount, i dont think it conveys land rover/range rover's typical big and businesslike styling well. it looks to nancy.
@jimmyhoffa9 Well, I like that they are trying to move away to a new design language, this one just doesn't seem very coherent to me. I'm not sure what you mean by badge in regards to coupe. A coupe is where the roof line and boot lid come to a seemless finish. It'll be an interesting trick if they can pull it off on a landy but I can't see that they have. This one just looks like a very flaky concept car we'll be embarrassed by in years to come like tail fins and what not.
This is probably what the Nissan Juke should have been. The price is a bit steep though, $60000 for a SUV with only a 2.0 four cylinder! That is barely cheaper than a V8 Range Rover sport!
Steve, would you get this (in 5 door form), the Q5, the GLK, or the X3? Also, with updates coming to the Q5 and the GLK this year, how much difference do you think will be made? Do you think the Merc's steering will finally be fixed? Thanks for the consumer advice, we are in the market for a small luxury crossover.
@gheffty93 I like the Coupe but hey, if you need 4 doors go for it. I'm not a big GLK fan and the X3 is REALLY expensive. I prefer the Q5, but we'll have to see what changes are in store.
@BrandyKluxKlan but shares nothing with them other then the engine so kind of a invalid statement plus ive seen the edge dont see the likeness but i do see how you might say explorer but the evoque was concepted before the current explorer so think the explorer as a cheap knock off.
you forgot to mention how hard it is to get into the back seat and how the electronic sliding chairs take up quite a while to move for someone to squeeze into the back. I rather get the 4 door for that reason alone. If your going to make a sport model, might as well get rid of the back seats. beautiful car though.
Wow $61K!! Well that's a LR for ya. If it's in the low $40's they would sell like hotcakes! I've seen one on the road here in STL and its striking. I hope build quality and reliability are above normal LR's
I was impressed with the Evoque, until I went to see it in person! UGGH! Really tiny, and looks/feels like it costs FAR less that $40G. It reminded me of the Isuzu Vehicross, just not as ugly, not as big, nor as adequately priced!
4 cyclinder turbo? cmon... put a solid, powerful engine in there. Although its an amazing looking car, the price is way too steep. Steve, is this going to be their flagship model? That might make sense...
I like this car a lot but the price just too mutch for its size...you can get a proper 5 series or A6 for its price. Yea they are different cars but just compete these two cars with that midget....
Not a bad looking car but I would like to know that for that price, would Land Rover fork up the off road tires as part of an option package? For almost $62,000, I'd want a couple more options...esp. for something that's going to see a lot of utilitarian activity.
Beautiful vehicle, but I wish it was just a bit more expensive. So that it retains its exclusiveness, at its current price they are going to fly off the showroom floor, and become a common sight of every day driving. Remember when the Hummer H2 came out, back in 2002. I wanted one so bad, but after its release in L.A. it became so popular that you would see at least 10 a day, so I bought a BMW 7 series instead.
This is not "a modern-day crossover", it's a Star Wars trooper car...from the future! Get your facts straight!

$60,000??? I like it but overall think Jeep's Grand Cherokee is a better bargain. Heck for that price I can get the SRT model.

A car that expensive and that low-slung shouldn't be cocking a wheel through turns.

Yeeaaahhh, boyeeeeee. I love the way this thing looks. Too bad I'd have to mortgage my first-born to get one (don't think about it)...
And I actually like the fact that music accompanies this video. Feels more... dynamic.
