  • Well made excellent book to story movie. Very dramatic innocence lost and desperate last chance script. Olivier is just mesmerizing in his portrayal and Jones is excellent as a woman of opportunity. Thanks for posting this tear jerker and lasting memory film.

  • @mvies77 It's excellent acting indeed. Thanks for your comment. It seems I am one of the view who haven't read the book.

  • Wow, what a powerful movie. I cried when I saw him in the end. He wasn't really there for a handout; otherwise, he would have taken the money. He humbled himself to see her one last time. He sacrificed even his pride for her. Oh how he loved her; only she realized it too late. He left a loveless marriage, a steady income, a lifestyle he was accustomed to for a chance at real love and real happiness, and she was too young to understand the magnitude of his sacrifice and his love for her. Sad.

  • I truly do belive, from the book...that he searched for love because of a selfish reason. His love for her was because of the same reason too, he wanted her to feel good, atleast from the book that's how i got it. She was so young and he had no money, he knew its dangerous....he got what he deserved, and we feel sorry for him because we see ourselfs in this person. We are all Hurstwoods and some of us has to pay one way or another.

  • @heyyy185 It's me again...he had to leave that witch of a woman. To desire love, he had no choice. I was the "other woman" twice in my life, and he had good reason to leave. Most men, however...choose the money over a real love. It's his nature. :(

  • "I have this story on a literature CD, and read it so many times. Didn't know there was a movie."

  • great movie

  • This is arguably the best role I've seen Olivier play! Not only is it comparable with Wuthering Heights, but I think he may have outdone himself! Thank you so much for sharing!

  • interesting...they veered from the book in some ways.

  • Olivier has melted my heart. His vulnerability in this role is just heartbreaking.

  • :( she loves a lying, theiving kidnapper:(

  • @FantasiaDelight You are right, I had thoughts like yours myself watching the film. On the other hand, he is just a weak human being, like most of us. And he searches for love. And during the relationship and his financial collapses he develops and at last his love for her became unselfish!!! What do you think about my thoughts.

  • @ChangeAba true.

  • Carrie is my favourite novel. I just checked if there's a movie on the book. and Voila! Thank you for uploading!

  • Such a well acted film. Love JJ in everything and LO was very touching and vulnerable in this.

Quite close to the book from what I remember.

  • I DEEM "CARRIE" THE FINEST AMERICAN FILM OF THIS GENRE. IT WOULD THRILL ME TO CONNECT WITH THE PERSON (CHANGEABA?) WHO UPLOADED IT FOR US TO REVERE. I'VE SEEN IT 8-10 TIMES & CAN SAY THAT IT IS FLAWLESS --- SUPERIOR TO THE NOVEL. I'D LIKE TO DISCUSS THIS FLICK WITH ANYONE WHO ADMIRES EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. GORC36@GMAIL.COM

  • @drbovary Thanks very much for your kind comment. This film touches me very much every time I watch it. The performance of Laurence Olivier is just great. I didn't know that it is based on a novel.

  • @drbovary Is the novel more...morally controversial than the film? The film doesn't really delve into Carrie's physical involvement with these men and I'd prefer not to read anything that is more explicit than this.

  • @drbovary Naw...Madam Bovary far exceeds this film. Olivier is always a fine actor, as in Wuthering Heights, and Rebecca. I can't upload so I am not complaining. I am just an old lady who knows that these films, far exceed anything on the screen in the past

30 years. Keep em coming. Beth

  • Jennifer.. one of our last ladies of the art..

  • I came across this film by chance today and had to check whether it was on here, thanks for the upload I remember this film as a child being a real tearjerker

  • @blkivory :)

  • What a fantastic film. It's a pity it's so underrated. Laurence Olivier is wonderful. (as always.)

  • @ChangeAba - If you can try a 2nd time please do and see if the pic and sound can be put in synch. I find it rather distracting when I see the word spoken but no sound. Yesterday I watched "Adventure Island" (Rory Calhoun, 1947), somebody gets shot, they cring in pain and fall forwrd and THEN I hear the shot! * sigh *, out of synch eh? Thanks for all the effort you put into this. "Carrie" here makes my day!

  • @goldie0800 Sorry I realised now that the original has that problem, depending on the player pic and sound is in synch odr not. So it will not help to upload it again :(

  • @ChangeAba my sound and all are just fine i have no problems maybe it's just certain kind of computers =_

  • @NAVYWIFEONE That's interesting, thanks for the information!!!

  • thanks for uploading

  • @NAVYWIFEONE Pleasure!
