I met Davey in Feb 1992 at Church street Orlando such a Class act. He was Singing for Ford Thunderbird, Mark Martin was there but didn't have the Balls to sing for all his fans waiting in line pretty Souless if you ask me.
Still no ID on the CBS Starting Lineup background music? Argh. lol. I't very similar to Giorgio Moroder work (like Chase) but... I don't think it's his song here.
When I first heard this song back when NASCAR Classics were on Speed, I thought this song was annoying. These days, I wistfully look back at this and wish NASCAR had this type of media display pre-race. Today's driver safety, however, is worth more than the injuries that were mentioned about Neil Bonnett.
Listen to those Highy Octane LEADED 358s...Very...Rich smell. These motors for this race was a test ground. That new Carb Plate 200 less HRP...Alright boy's lets get less Friction in these motors with these Featherlite Parts...An't no Atlanta motor there rage (6,500-9,300RPM). These motors rose up to 300 to 500RPM. Gotta LOVE THAT NASA HENDRICK TECHNOLOGY. I wish someone would post the 88 clash if they have it or the 89. Thanks.
@1980Invasiontour Totally! I used to have the Busch Clash on VHS as a kid. They had the cars lined up diagonally on pit road an they walked down he line and talked to each driver who was sitting on their hood. Pre-internet it was the first time most fans saw the new 1988 paint schemes. I almost wore out the tape going back and forth to check stuff out. The Chrome wheels were gone and the new Buicks, Olds and Pontiac were "little tiny cars". lol.
@SimRacin14 yeah that makes sence, do you happen to know the music for the 1988 grid??? i cant remember for the life of me what that music is..........
Maybe because it had some sort of CBS or CBS Sports logo? I know they edited every CBS logo out except those seen on the dashboard for on-board cameras and the logos next to graphics for the RaceCams and running order in later years.
And as it turned out, this race WAS epic... And they didn't have all the over-hyped bull around the race like they do now; the racing spoke for itself.
Amen to that. The music used would still be cool.
Meanwhile, I've got something coming in two weeks you might enjoy.
For this year's Indy 500 I am making a Delta Force Intro and a Delta Force Starting Grid, modeled after the type of starting grids that CBS used for Daytona.
im seriously having withdrawal from hearing the disco-esque music (and the 1986 billy ocean style music) woud you be able to upload those old lineups?
Funky Music...I love 80's music...Commenting on lineups...#99 Connie Saylor's last race, he died in 1993...Brad Teague still races on occasion in Busch..Ed Pimm did some open-wheel races and had an Indy 500 car sponsored by Curb records.
Music took me way back. I SOOO remember this starting linup intro music and it's friggin' awesome. "The Bandit, Harry Gant", "Texas' Terry Labonte" and "from Mississipp, Lake Speed" - why don't they intro the drivers like this anymore? It made it so much "bigger".
Note that Michael Waltrip actually DNQ'd for the Daytona 500 in 1988. He made the race by Bahari Racing (his team at the time) buying the Mueller Brothers' #89 car (most likely qualified by Rodney Combs) for Waltrip to drive.
Should FOX use this for this year????

Speed actually cut out the Starting Grid still shot that CBS used as a header for the Starting Lineup. Not sure why they did that.

@BSNFabricating agreed, it's all dramatised now...i mean there was drama then, but now the drama is like "OMG" im a 16 year old girl drama.

I would love to get the names of CBS background music for this, and esp. the 1993 CBS races and end credits...
cerfagile57 3 years ago 3
Two things:
1) CBS always had the best background music for whatever the sport is, College Football, College Basketball, and of course, the 500.
2) I wish they still did the starting grid's this way instead of just scrolling it across the screen.

@racermac1988 fox sometimes does it...thats why there awsome

that is incorrect. Pimm was OWNED by Mike Curb in IndyCars, but not sponsored. He was a teammate to Tom Sneva, and both were sponsored by Skoal.

I agree with y'all on the music, CBS always had great music during the starting lineup, during the 80's to the mid 90's
