how to fit vinyl fo dummies great vid

  • Very useful, thanks, now let's see if mine turns out that way ...

  • Good helpfull vidio - Thanks

  • NICE ONE

  • how do i cut around the toilet ,, thaks

  • Like how you missed out the doorway. And what happens when the vinyl wants to spread?

  • What was the clue tape you put down first like I saw this american guy glue his whole floor then use a type of air board glider to push the air bubles out, do i need to go to these lengths or am i save with your method as your one looks very skillful the american guy went far to fast through his video plus what is the best cutting tool for vinyl I'm not to confident i can pull it off with a stanley knife is there anything else thats more accurate? i found this video very helpful. Thanks

  • Hi this might sound a bit silly but its my first time putting down vinyl and I want to take off my skirting boards first so would you advise taking the skirting off as I want to put vinyl down when the wall is naked then put on new skirting over the vinyl if that makes sense plus I'm a bit nervous of the cutting so is there any other tool on the market that would make me feel more assured by the way your tips are the best I've seen so far.

  • This is not a very good way to lay vinyl down. You should make a paper template first then lay it on your vinyl and trace it out for a perfect fit. Trimming the edges like you show is much harder and mistakes will happen. Also the baseboard should be remove so the vinyl is tucked underneath.

  • I have to do this job tommorrow so this vid has given me the confidence to do it competently. Thanks

  • A vid on fitting Vinyl in a large room. ie I have a 24 ft x 16ft room! how to fold it etc.,

Tip on teh knife blade is excellent - been going wrong there for years.

  • Thanks very much, very useful.

  • Excellent vid. Thank You

  • also on that bit just before the radiator, itt looks like there was a gap or was this paint damage to the skirting? thanks

  • Hi, should you leave the vianl 24-48 hours in the room before fitting?

  • This is a great video!!! I was getting ready to hire someone to install vinyl in my kitchen until I saw it. I am pretty mechanically inclined, but I would have had no idea how to make the cuts correctly, and I probably would have hacked the vinyl all to hell because I would have used a conventional blade in my knife....LOL!!!! Your video is going to save me a lot of money. I really appreciate you taking the time to make and share it!!! Cheers...........

  • can you put an underlay fitting video on please .

  • What a great vid. No frills. No irritating music. Just good clever concise instructions and guidence. I've scoured youtube for diy tips and this just has to be the best I've seen in all subjects. Great stuff. I now feel well confident about laying lino. What about self adhesive vinyl floor tiles? Any tips please.

  • another helpful vid!

    need more

  • what about the drop back in the doorway

  • @rugman2298 - Only a quick video, couldn't include everything but more guides to follow. With reference to the drop back in the doorway, you cut the vinyl back towards you from the pinch of the skirting board on either side of the doorway. Hope this helps.

  • @carpethome1 dont you cut into the skirting board and make a big unslightly groove in it?
