A #1 hit for The Righteous Brothers in February 1965. And don't forget, 2 weeks from tonight, the Grammys. Should this song have won a Grammy? Feel free to reply.
Real music sung and spun on real records that you had to make an effort to keep clean and free from scratches, diamond needles care when putting the arm down slow, and never take your record to a party.
@cowman602 not good at all she didn't even show up to class this whole week and today was the last day she really became stuck up the last few weeks I opened the door for her and she didn't even look at me or say thank you. Funny thing was I didn't like her until she gave a smile idk I guess it wasn't meant too i'm pretty bummed about it because she was very uniquely pretty and had a very pleasant smile
This is the later remix. On the original single the violins are suppressed in the mix, especially in the sequence "cos it's gone gone gone and I can't go on". Seems that that version is only on the 1965 original single, unless it's also on the Back To Mono collection.
In my view, "Top Gun" and Tom Cruise ruined this song and piggybacked on the genius of Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil and the (now jailed) Phil Spector. This song is an all time classic, simply borne out by its huge sales, numerous worldwide Number Ones and most played track of the 20th Century status. So ironic in that it is like Freda Payne's "Band of Gold" in that it is really about a relationship imploding...anybody has been separated or divorced will surely understand it!
Songs of today has the theme "In with the bad, out with the good." This song is is one of the best ever. What do we have now?? Jonus Brothers and crap.
For some reason, watching this video and listening to the song takes me back. I think it's because my family actually owned a record player and one of the things I loved the most was watching the record spin on the turntable.
My sister was born in 2003 and she's one of the last kids who will ever know what came before the MP3 player.
Damn, that sounds good. I wish vinyl was more practical, because I do miss that sound. And kids who play nothing but mp3s have no idea what they're lacking in sound quality...
Lady GooGoo and the rest suck. Where have all the good ones gone.? The Righteous Bros. Cher, Roy Orbison, you know people who knew how to sing. I miss the days of Blue Oyster Cult, 10cc, Dusty Springfield, The Rolling Stones, The Duprees, The Four Seasons, The Box Tops, The Commodores, Fleetwood Mac, and so many that could sing. There hasn't been a group in over 25 years worth a damn much less a solo singer. I do not listen to anything past the early 80's. Anything past that is not music.
being the original singers of this song is good but so is Halls and Oates' version good too. Way better than some of the songs that is played today especially Bieber and Lady Gaga
Great song; sounds like it's playing in the room with me.Reminds me of listening to oldies at a high school party with a nice group of boys and girls, all grown with our own kids now. Wonderful memories!
can someone please tell me. There is a version of this song with a guy and girl singing it. I hear it on the radio sometimes. I don't know who the vocalists are. It's my fav version of this song. The woman really belts the song out. Can someone help me???
the Brian Wilson's autobiography "Wouldn't It Be Nice" is a great one as well but as far as more on Phil, I have no clue. Tearing down covered quite a bit but I know Ronnie Spector wrote a book too. Have you heard the version "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' without the vocals? You can find in Youtube somewhere. That was a small room to record in. The echo chamber, was it the room that gave it that effect. I see no sound absorbtion padding anywhere.
A great book to read is "Tearing Down the Wall of Sound" by Mick Brown. Talks about how this excellent song came to be. The Righteous Brothers thought it kinda sucked at first but who knew right? I hate Phil for what he did to Lana but what a freakin' geniuse he was. Timing is everything!
@joecc6 He's a Rebel is also a good book and goes a bit more in depth about Spector's recording techniques and musical output. The echo chamber plus the fact that all of the musician's mics bled into each other was a key component to the Wall of Sound.
When you start this video, you hear the long pause, then the pop as the needle this the record....it is like stepping to a transporter that takes you to a much different world. That is amazing.
67 people lost that lovin' feeling..... 0o0o0o0ohhhhh that lovin' feeling.....they lost that loving feeling now it's gone, gone, gone, who0oo0o0oaaaaaa
Basque was spoken in all of Europe as a common language, because almost all the population of Europe had migrated from the Sahara when the formerly productive land became a desert .New cults from Anatolia, all of them promoted male domination. Priests were sent all over Europe with orders to destroy the ancient religion of the Goddess, create nations, and invent new languages for each new nation.Every language had to be based on the basque language because there was no other from which to work
The 2nd event is much more special...in the late 70s I met & married the true love of my life! It was my 3rd & his 1st marriage. He treated my son like his own &, when the child was killed in an accident,we mourned together. We had some REALLY rough times, he traveled ALOT for his job & I was alone alot as a result, but we made it thru 30+ yrs. My beloved husband passed away last July from lung-brain cancer & this is one of many songs that brings him to mind...but with tenderness not sadness.
@CroneGrimalkin I read your comment and I felt this weird feeling inside. I can tell you guys truly loved each other. Gone, but never forgotten. RIP sir.
This song brings back memories of 2 different times separated by a wide expanse of time. The first is back in the 60s when as a teen I danced with my BF and we both planned & dreamed of the day we would get married, settle down, & raise a family. However, I met a "con artist" & after only 2-1/2 months eloped with him with promises of seeing the big wide world. The con artist is long gone but I'm still friends with my ex-love & his sweet little wife...they're the perfect couple together!
sandyc59.. Thank You Sandy... Fortunately, I found another Califonia girl with whom I just celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary with. She is to use the vernacular.. my soul mate.
We were at a Cal. amusement park one niight walking by a place where the Beach Boys were singing "In My Room" . I took her by the arm, went in and we danced to their song. It was beautiful.
Ah, this song defines it all, a better time when morals mattered!
Today's kids are lost in the electronic highway.
The future is uncertain but will be based on the morals of the past!

This was played at all the dances I ever held as a DJ back in time and even to today!

I love this song. Whenever I hear this song it reminds me of how simple the 60"s must have been.
