  • i used to have baby guppies the parents always ate them and only a few survived each school

  • @lashyon, yeah I don't seem to have that problem, guess i keep her well fed...... I got a female, a week later she had babies, a month later she had babies again, and a month later she had babies again, and the whole time no male in tank, the thing is a female can store a male's sperm for up to a year.... so im gonna see how many batches of babies she can have before she runs out of juice, lol

  • @butterfliesinthesky wow i didnt know that but they have hundreds of babies each time im sure a few get eaten lol they're so small at first but if they're smart they hid in the rocks and stuff :D they do it to keep the tank population safe.. fish will only reproduce so much so that they have room to live comfortably guppies are schooling fish they love company. I didn't know about the sperm thing though! I do know the males eat each others tales its a dominance thing lol

  • @lashyon, Yeah I have her in a little 2 gallon tank with a clump of some kind of aquatic grass where the babies can hide a cory cat, 2 ghost shrimps,a smal sucker fish, n some snales n she just keeps having babies, so when they get bigger I move them to the big tank.
