ovchinnikov and lugansky are the best performers to rach. musical moment no.4 i think...

I will tell you something quite curious. I like all moments musicaux 4 of all professionals here (minus 1 or 2 or 3 which I will not mention). I love Lugansky and Ovchinikov of course. But the of 4 Evgenia Rubinova is wonderful, very personal and musical. Bergman plays it very well although I have heard him better things. I like very much this of Vadim Chaimovich. Which one has its own personality. Michel

In this 4 of Rachmaninoff there are two aspects: 1) Playing the part with respect to the tempo Presto and forte most of the time accelerating at the end. "to Play fast, forte and during a long time is técnically the most difficult to conquer" Neuhaus dixit. 2) Make something personal and musical attractive and subject to the wills of Rachmaninoff: Tormented spirit, fury, rage, apparently calm but anxious moments in pp. Not easy at all.
