@jonny2k100 the DC-9's are nicknamed Diesel 9's for that reason. at lower altitudes the engines produce smoke trails (in real life they are not as thick as in this video).

Whisperjet, ironic, the DC-9 is one of the loudest in the air but back in th 60's and 70's when the 727 and DC-10 was still strong I guess the DC-9 could be considered a quiet aircraft.

There is no such engine as the JT8D-30... There was the -1, -5, -7, -9, -11, -15, and last -17 before the -200 series engines came out.

Very good! You are a perfect pilot! My dad flys the newer version of one of those. It's called the "Mad Dog" MD-80. It's just an expanded version of the DC-9

Most planes use the Rolls Royce engine, now Im no expert on planes but Im guessing this plane would use the Rolls Royce Merlin engine which is very famous as it powered most of the British planes in WW2.

If they suck so bad then why is Northwest still considered the largest operator of the Diesel-9 in the world. If it wasn't for gas prices they wouldn't even start to think about retiring them.

I am at KMSP every week and I see those dc-9s all the time, they are very reliable aircraft and still going strong after almost 40 years. They are slowly being phased out by the CRJ-900 and the emb-190.

Yeah, I agree, the 9s and the 27s were pretty quiet too. Did you know that 727 was the only plane other than the 747 to have triple slotted flaps. Im pretty new to flight sim too. In fact, I just downloaded the PMDG 747-400.

on simviation,com u can download anything for vasriouse flight simulator games just click on a link under the one u have and when downloaded the plane just read the readme or u can copy and paste the planes to your main fs aircraft foulder located in the scenery library in the settings

I've never heard or read that Eastern called their 9's 'whisperjets'- this was reserved for the 727. The L-1011's were nicknamed "Whisperliners".

hi there, I didn't make the video, but that's clearly FS2004 and the plane, if I had to take a stab at it, is DC9-30 Professional available from Just Flight. $22.99 on their website. Doesn't come with many liveries, but I'm sure you can download more from avsim or flightsim. He may be using another program/addon for the wing and behind the wing views. It could also be the Flight1 Iron knuckles DC9-30 Flight1 also has a Super-80 you can buy as well.
