  • this guys right till he stuck the screw driver in to get the seal out...if u scratch the surface were the seal is..with an engine with high crankcase pressure it will leak guaranteed...you must wet and dry the area...IT must be as smooth as a babys bum!!!

  • Would it be the same on a 97 dodge caravan?

  • hey brian dose a subaru crank pully have left or right handed threads? Thanks

  • @smokey756 right hand (standard)

  • I usually put a small screw in the seal itself and pull it with some pliers.

  • @sweetlikeADAM That's the way my dad taught me to do it. On motorcycles where this technique can't be applied I do it that way.

  • Love ya too..

  • @mrcokez1 Love is all you need. Love is the answer. <3

  • Why would someone who has the right tool for the job not use it and instead gouge up the cases with a screwdriver? Worse yet is that you made a video of your amateur methods so others might try it. Then they will have to put the new seal in with silicone if they are lucky, or they will just have a leak if they are unlucky. Anything worth doing is worth doing well.....

  • @nortonshit I agree with you. This works well. I think you may be over conceptualizing the marring done by the screw driver. I DO however really appreciate your attitude about doing things well. We could all use more of that attitude.

  • Nice gouges you put in the outside of the seal housing hillbilly. How about buying a simple Lisle seal removing tool that pulls these out easily without damaging any metal???

  • @nortonshit Dear Norton Shit. I have one. I like this better. Thank you for your love and concern. You're very sweet. Love Brian.

  • @briansmobile1

What a hater! Thank you Briansmobile1, your videos are very good, explains a lot and i have watched a ton of them on subjects that have nothing to do with my current project. Nortonshit, you can make you own videos and show people how you think it should be done. I'll stick to watching these videos. I promise not to insult you on your vids..... Maybe

  • @avmlarry What we don't see/know is that his dad/school teacher/etc treated him poorly and taught him to be a critically destructive person, let's see if we can teach him with love. I was emotionally abused. I understand.

  • its a good idea to not nick the oil pump surface also. i have found that that will cause leakage also. there is a seal puller set that does a beautiful job of pulling those seals out without damaging either surface

  • hi man.. Can you replace the crankshaft seal while the engine is still on the car?

  • @jabermazigh81 Yes you can, but you'll have to at least pull the transmission out.

  • @jabermazigh81 Yes you can.

  • good job! check out my latest video....ya got competition! just kiddin', I spent way to much time making it

  • Thanks, Brian. I presume the engine was out for another reason.

  • @spelunkerd Ya, rod knock. The whole engine was shot.

  • GOOD JOB THANKS

  • @1elAguila Glad I could help- thanks for commenting friend.

  • how long does it take u to replace the main seal

  • @MarioDavila1990 Depends what it's in and if I have cherry coke.

  • Good tip once again.

I would of just taken my grinder and ground that whole shaft until it was flush with the seal, then it's easier to access it. Just substitute the shaft with the end of an old broomstick handle and affix it with a bit of duct tape and yer good to go.

Ummmm, come to think of it... I like your way much better!

  • @Goregoon Maybe I should try your way. Who knows? Sounds MacGyver-esk throw in some explosions, a little gun fire- sounds like a typical week end good time to me!
