I think this is the best version as well...of course I played it so often it got embedded in my brain that way, so no other version seems 'right'.....this lost love meeting in heaven hits home for a lot of blue eyed folks...I would imagine... I think it's about the tone of the voice having the believable amount of sorrow and loneliness along with the perfect slightly slower tempo. You're a great artist, Willie Nelson. Love ya.

This is one of the mot underrated songs by Willie. His voice is so understated and simple that it is probably lost to the new generations of country music fans. I think of my Dad whistling these verses-so it will remain one of my all time favorites!
