«OLD SOLDIERS NEVER DIE» is, for me, the best song of New World. It´s the B-side of «I´m a clown», another great hit of the group. Who remember this songs?
Do you think their Band-Name came from the Seekers song Everybody's talking about a New World in the morning ...
(I think it was the Seekers. ? .) Because New World's songs seem to have such a beautiful, decent message to them. Godly like the Seekers. THEY got their name from "Seek and ye shall find." in God's word, the Bible.
Silly but true- Driving from Brisbane to Sydney to sign a recording contract, they had been 'The Folksingers' but the record company wanted a more commercial name. Along the way they tried, but couldn't agree, and in desperation on the outskirts of Sydney they saw a New World Supermarket sign and thought 'New World' was it! They liked the name, and as a bonus it had the New World/Australia connection. At first it was 'New World Trio', then they dropped the 'Trio'.
This is a song from my childhood elofan (not this version though ive not heard this one before), we had the song "Tom Tom" by New world when i was a kid (still love that song to this day) , a great group, i guess they were the Aussie version of our "Batchelors"
Fabulous Video for this great song
